[Download] Russ Chimes Presents: Terraza’s ‘Rivage’

Russ Chimes

Next up on Russ Chimes’ Uno Mas label is an EP billed as Russ Chimes Presents: Terraza. Out this week, the EP contain three storming tracks; ending on this tune, Rivage which, once you’ve heard it, I’m sure you’ll agree is the perfect epic release closer. In celebration of the impending release, Mr. Chimes is giving away this tune as a freebie which you can pick up over at Mixmag.

Rivage perfects a nice balance between head-down, strobe light, Deep House grooves and hands-ion-the-air Balearic sunrise euphoria; making it a top choice for a 4am ‘bring them home’ track, and why it works so well as the EP’s finale; it leaves you with the feel-good factor. Deep, punchy basses underpin a wash of lush pads and infectious piano hooks in uplifting symphony. As the track hits you in rushes, distant vocal snatches tie the tune together. We guarantee you’ll be hitting repeat.

Vonavi

Vonavi is a Ukrainian producer who making some of the most crazy, left-field Disco tunes you’ll have heard in a long time. He’s just about to release his début album through Keenhouse’s Sunlinxx label. The self-titled record is an ecclectic twelve track oddessy though dancefloor insanity and is pre-ceded but this free download of the record’s lead single, Travel Freak.

Travel Freak is the prefect vessel to show off the albums experimental attitude to dance music. Pinned down by a smooth Funk groove, the track plays with genre conventions and expectations by swinging from laid back poolside Disco vibes to avant-garde synthesizer freeform. This is Disco come experimental jazz and a must listen for fans of vintage progressive synthesizer works. Although the album has one foot on the dancefloor, the club might not be the best arena for it. Whist it might not contain any go to DJ weapons, it certainly makes for sweet Sunday listening.

It was only a couple of months ago that London’s masters of smooth Cassette Club released the Unreleased Vol. 2 EP. Now they want you all to hear what they’ve been up to recently, so they’ve dropped the first track from their forthcoming new EP. To be released at the start of December alongside the track Collide; this is Far Away.

So smooth that your speakers might just loose all their structural integrity; Far Away is a blissful slick of Tropical Pop. Opening with some resounding island chimes the track sets it’s mood before sliding into a bubbly synth bassed Funk juggernaut. Tom gets his ultimate croon on as the duo deliver some superb laid back sunshine vibes. The new release will be a most welcome return for London’s finest.

[Download] Nude Disco & BroKen DJ’s reMix Laura Branigan’s ‘Self Control’

Laura Branigan

Here’s something a little tasty to start the week with, a slick reworking of one of our favourite tunes of all time. Whether you’re on Team Branigan or Team Raf there’s no denying that Self Control is an absolute classic. For us the debate generally rests on whether we’re in an ElectroPop mood or an Italo mood, but now we’ve got a contender for when we’re in the mood for some straight-up dancefloor vibes courtesy of this reMix from Nude Disco and BroKen DJ’s of the Laura Branigan version of Self Control.

Falling neatly between the realms of reMix and completely reworked Edit, Nude Disco and BroKen DJ’s take on Self Control distils the tune down to it’s most crowd pleasing elements. Playing up the Italo, but neatly slotting it into their crisp and bouncy South London Disco sound, these guys hype that classic bassline for all it’s worth and give it a little syncopated swing. Bristling with uplifting synths and Balearic purcussion, this reMix uses the original’s vocals and arrangements sparingly; but when it does drop some of the songs memorable moments, it does so to maximum effect.

[Download] Route94’s ‘Shards Of Glass’

route-94_thumb

Route94 delivers possible his best tune to date with his new stormer. It’s an exclusive for Mixmag and Rowan Jones has serves up a wonderful Sci-Di Disco House tune that contains everything we love about both club music and synth music. This is the reason Route94 is fast becoming one of the most sought after in the country.

There’s hints of Boogie and Italo in Shards Of Glass, the cutting digital bassline has got a definite 80s swing to it, and the sparking keys leant toward the Jarre end of the synthesizer scale. Pairing that up with some ridiculously heavy bass and a pounding dancefloor beat Route94 delivers something both retro and contemporary, and ties it all up nicely in a House groove. Awesome stuff!

[Download] Futurewife With Sister Girlfriend’s ‘Summer’s End’

Futurewife

Seattle’s resident groove master Futurewife and ElectroPop three piece Sister Girlfriend seem like the most nightmarish match made in heaven, yet the results are a pure dream. These guys have teamed fellow local resident Tiffany Wan to deliver this tricked out Funk jam, Summer’s End. So sit back, put your feet up and your headphones on, and sink into some of the smoothest sounds around.

Futurewife serves up some infectious rolling bass hooks and Old School Hip Hop beats for his slick vintage Disco to flow over. Thick synth stabs and retro sweeps form a neat package that allows Futurewife and Tiffany Wan to roll out a sweet duet over the top. It’s an interesting combination of influences, but this time too many cooks certainly don’t spoil anything. This melting pot definitely works.

[Download] Starcadian’s ‘Wrecking Shot’

Starcadian

Back in 2012, when we were just getting to know his work, New York’s synthesizer mastermind Starcadian released what is possibly one of the best mashups ever unleashed on the world. First Kill crammed in Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Pharoahe Monch, Queen, Belinda Carlisle, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Busta Rhymes and Wu Tang Clan over some seriously hard hitting Disco sounds. Now, with one of our favourite albums of last year, Sunset Blood, under his belt, and with the storming new Saturdaze EP, on the horizon Starcadian drags you back to the dancefloor with his follow-up bootleg. This is Wrecking Shot.

This time around Miley Cyrus, Ol’ Dirty Bastard & Kelis and Tracy Weber get run through Starcadian’s galactic groove machine and spat out the other side in as a mirror-balled glam jam. Piled high with the finest French Touch, Nu-Disco and a surprising amount of Italo, Wrecking Shot once again surprises us as Starcadian makes seemingly disparate songs weave in and out of each other seamlessly. Where Fist Kill was full throttle Electro, Wrecking Shot has a smooth and soulful side. This should more than keep you going until Starcadian brings his urban synth Disco, with a Saturday morning TV theme vibe, on the new EP.

Starcadian’s Sunset Blood is out now. The Saturdaze EP is released 26th September.

[Download] Blueshift’s ‘Low Tide’

Blueshift

Philly DJ, French Express founder and one half of Mr. Falcon, Blueshift, is back with a brand new jam. Well, he’s not really; this one is fresh in the wild but dates from 2010 “or something” and has been dug up from his archives and delivered here as a free download. Blueshift has had a pretty awesome year with some storming released and mixes, but now he’s looking back with Low Tide; a track that comes from an age old time when the man “was really into nu-disco”. Like he’s not anymore!

Saying that though, Low Tide maybe loaded with Tropical hooks, but there’s a load of House in there too. The track rolls on big 909 snares and big Chicago-esque vocal samples. Sure, that rubs shoulders with cascading island purcussion and a Disco-y line in piano riffs, but there’s House there all the same. And it makes for a nice mix, Blueshift shouldn’t keep stuff like this to himself for so long!

[Download] MiGHty mOUse’s ‘That Piano Track’

Mighty Mouse

Fresh out the oven; here’s the latest monster from floorfilling renaissance man MiGHty mOUse. Following on from his recent Shaker Faker/Space Face single of earlier this year, That Piano Track, continues the MiGHty mOUse trend of throwing a whole bunch of dance music genres into a blender and generating something awesome and fresh. Put together primarily for his DJ sets, the mOUse man felt this one was too good to be kept to himself. We tend to agree.

There’s just so much more personality in MiGHty mOUse’s tunes than many of his contemporaries. Never following a formula he always delivers something that’s completely in-tune with the dancefloor but with a heap of added quirkiness; That Piano Track is no exception. With frantic purcussion and a groove that effortlessly slides from light piano hooked House to sub rumbling Bass; this one will definitely keep the crowd locked in. Enjoy.

[Download] Rogue Vogue reMixes Miami Horror’s ‘Wild Motion (Set It Free)’

Miami Horror

Australian Indie-ElectroPoppers Miami Horror are on the road to releasing their sophomore album later this year; ahead of which they have unleashed the single Wild Motion (Set It Free). The original leans slightly toward the jangle Indie guitar side of things, but Chicago finest purveyor of the city’s House sound, Rogue Vogue, is here to bring the track kicking and screaming back to the dancefloor with this infectious reMix.

Sitting alongside a version from RAC’s Pete Herbert on the official release this reMix is surely the releases highlight and available here to download. Cranking his retro House sound up to 11, Rogue Vogue heaps on the shuffling 909 hats and a deep Organ hook the worms it;s way into your brain. Pushing the anthemic vocals to the fore, Rogue Vogue conjures up a track that is both hardcore floorfilling material and a song that retains it;s Pop sensibilities. We can’t ask for more than that can we?
