Fare Soldi reMix Toro Y Moi

Italian production team Fare Soldi have turned their attention on Toro Y Moi, turning the Chillwave into Funkwave.

Our favourite crazy Disco duo give ‘New Beat’ a thorough Italo influenced Disco going over. The track is cowbell crazy and features June’s official funkiest bassline. Be prepared to be put in a good mood!

Bon Accord’s new EP

Bon Accord is Michael Wright, a Hackney based producer of spacey DreamPop, he’s just released a new EP, for free!

With the ‘True Delusion’ EP Michael effortlessly walks the line between BedroomPop and Chillwave, and makes it his own by sprinkling it with snatches of UK  and 90’s House. The four tacks on the EP are reverb drenched slices of electronic beauty. Dreamlike and emotional, track like ‘Glazed’ and ‘True Delusion’  wash over you and carry you away in their intertwining melodies and distant vocals.

There’s actually quite an 80’s influence to this track you can pick out from the waves of Electro Shoegaze, the lead line is pure 80’s Pop. Really looking forward to this record!

Cosmonaut Grechko’s new EP

Cosmonaut Grechko’s new EP, ‘Alaska 2100’ is out this week and is a pretty stunning electronic masterpiece.

Grechko hits the ground running with track one, ‘Singin’’, with Joywave, it’s the prefect meeting of Dreamwave and Indie-Electro, like a spaced-out-Disco Passion Pit. It’s catchy but still maintains a summery mellow groove. ‘All I Hear’ is up next with some help from She’s The Queen (I’m writing about She’s The Queen on a day other than Thursday, feels weird) that tasks Emily’s vocals out of the normal DancePop environment and slides them into some laid back, almost Chillwave, reverb washed Disco. As with ‘Singin’’, ‘All I hear’ is incredibly listenable, Grechko’s organ riffs intertwining with the big retro synths to create an intricate, yet effortlessly cool, jam. ‘Coloreye’ and the title track are both more tradition Disco fare, both mellow and upbeat, that show Grechko still has the skills to flat out rock the dancefloor and they lead into a selection of reMixes including these two by Electronic Rumors faves Show Your Shoe and Blue Satellite. Show Your Shoe takes on ‘All I Hear’ and proves why he’s the man to watch when it comes to smooth Electro-Funk cuts with some crazy Moog action while Blue Satellite turns ‘Singin’ into a massive upbeat DiscoPop track.

The ‘Alaska 2100’ EP shows a real maturing of Cosmonaut Grechko, musically. An evolution of his music that will surely place him at the forefront of Indie-Electro and Nu-Disco.

Joypopp release début EP on Binary

Yesterday saw the release of Joypopp’s début EP, ‘Ecstatic’, on Binary Records.

It’s an EP bursting at the seems with four original tracks and three reMixes. We’ve already covered two of the original tunes on the EP, ‘Desire’ and ‘Volupté’, both of which really whet our appetite for more Joypopp. ‘Nostalgic’ and ‘Six To Six’ are more of the same top quality analog ElectroPop from the French duo. With their big Sci-Fi soundtrack synths and sweet female vocals, the Joypopp combination is defiantly a winner. ReMixes on the EP come courtesy of Night Drugs and these two from Girlfriend Records head honcho Sferro and Binary’s RoboPop™ main man Short Circuit. Sferro turns in a suitably retro slice of ElectroPop with a laidback groove, deep bass and awesome 80’s melodies. Short Curcuit’s reMix takes the track in the opposite direction, it’s a heavy mid-tempo club track that sees SC moving towed an almost Justice mix of rock riff-esq chainsaw synths and Disco drums.

More from Flashlights’ forthcoming EP

Binary Entertainment have dropped another hint of what to expect from the forthcoming new EP by Flashlights.

‘Holidays’ is just one of the tracks on the ‘Hidden Behind Trees’ EP, due out in June. More of a traditional song than the previously heard ‘Glowing Eyes’ which displays Flashlights talents lie in catchy songwriting as well as soundcraft. Still loaded with their (fast becoming trademark) reverb, with this track Flashlights are still walking the line between Dreamwave and Chillwave. Which is actually a really interesting place to be, lacing the cosmic dreaminess of Chillwave with the retro synths and hooks of Dreamwave. I’m surprised no-one has done it before but when the EP comes out I get the feeling I’m going to be glad Flashlights found that niche for themselves.

Washed Out album news

Washed Out’s mix of Chillwave, ElectroPop and Shoegaze has made it’s was to the Sub Pop label for his forthcoming album.

The album will be titled ‘Within And Without’ and if ‘Eyes Be Closed’ it will be a dreamlike, reverb fuelled, soundscape. Like the wall-of-sound British Indie bands of the late 80’s/early 90’s (especially with the rhythm section) but with more synths, Washed Out Shoegazes his was through the Chillwave landscape to provide us with cosmic jams like ‘Eyes Be Closed’. You gotta’ be in the mood for it, but if you are it’s almost perfect.

‘Within And Without’ is due for release on 12th July.

Young Galaxy reMixes Johan Agebjörn & Le Prix

We already dropped Johan Agebjörn collaboration with Le Prix and Lake Heartbeat a couple of weeks ago.

Check out this reMix of the track, ‘Watch The World Go By’, that doesn’t appear on the single. It’s by Young Galaxy and it ditches the banging Nu-Disco and Dreamwave of the original and it’s reMixes in favour of a chilled, Indie, sound that just proves the song  itself is so strong it can ride any genre, and tempo. A lazy Sunday track this reMix turns ‘Watch The World Go By’ into a reverb washed Chillwave epic.

The video, which was shot in Helsinki where much of the new Neon Indian record was recorded, ‘Heat Attack’ is a teaser for the forthcoming full-length album and named after the first of a three part instrumental that will appear on it. the music is sounding pretty rad, nice 80’s grooves and loaded with chilled analog noodling.
