HURTS have just premiered the new video for the single release of ‘Wonderful Life’ and it’s pretty funny.
In a massive self-referencing in-joke the video appears to be a wake, morning the loss of the crazy dancing lady from the original ‘Wonderful Life’ video, complete with a troupe of veiled dancing girls replicating her moves.
Goodbye crazy dancing lady, you will be sorely missed…
SynthPop legend and all-round synth guru Vince Clarke has reMixed Goldfrapp’s third single from their ‘Head First’ album, ‘Believer’.
The Depeche Mode/Yazoo/The Assembly/Erasure pioneer has gone seriously retro on the track which could easily be ‘2nd album era’ Yazoo, with a syncopated bassline that’s so 80’s it’s amazing! It’s a really cool reMix that sounds retro with out sounding ‘old’.
Vince is currently in his Cabin studio with Any Bell working on new Erasure material, if this reMix is an indication of the musical mood he’s we could be in for a treat.
‘Believer’ is released 7th September on Mute with reMixes from Vince Clarke, Subway, Joris Voorn and Davide Rossi.
With the release of The Good Natured awesome ‘your Body Is A Machine’ pushed back to August a few more reMixes are in order to tide you over!
Get People drop a piano driven atmospheric mix that at times boarders on Dubstep but retains a chilled Electro feel throughout. Glad they kept the song structure too, it’s a great track and it’s nice to hear it reMixed but still coherent.
Dubstep innovator Skream will be releasing his second album, ‘Outside the Box’ on Tempa later in August and after he helped propel La Roux into dancefloor superstardom it seems only fair that they return the favour by appearing on one of his tracks.
‘Finally’ is a deep string led moody track with a vaguely eastern feel to it. I gotta’ say, heavy sub works really well with Elly Jackson’s voice, the highs and lows really complimenting each other.
Swede Rosanna’s début single, ‘Runaway/Waterfall’ will also be the début release for the almighty Popjustice’s brand new record label, PopJustice Hi-Fi.
There’s absolutely no one better in the world to pick quality Pop tunes (they have also signed electronic rumors fave Bright Light Bright Light) and they’ve picked a blinder to kick off with!
The original of ‘Waterfall’ is pretty sweet, it’s an ace Pop tune with a surprisingly noise drum track but it’s this Fear Of Tigers reMix that is the seriously good shit. Once again Ben from FoT makes everything sound a) like an American High School in the 80’s and b) like everything’s gonna’ be alright. It’s those layers upon layers of uplifting, retro sounding, synths that do it!
Two slices of awesomeness hit the internet in the last few days. First up, soon after the Tron: Legacy panel at San Diego ComicCon, yesterday, the new theatrical trailer for Tron Legacy débuted online.
And it looks rad as hell!!!
Secondly, in the last couple days a few people have sent me tracks from Daft Punk’s soundtrack to the movie. These are defiantly legit, as many of the six tracks contain sections from the trailers we have seen. After some digging around, I think these have been ripped out the backend of the official Disney site.
I was debating putting all six tracks up here but then thought, ‘well, I wouldn’t put up six tracks of any album so why is this any different?’. If you really want all six they’ll be all over the internet by now but I wanna’ try and save myself hearing any more until I can hear it in 320kbps or CD quality because those tracks I have heard are amazing! Serious contender for best electronic soundtrack since BladeRunner. The way the orchestration and electronic meld together is truly masterful, even in so much as Daft Punk’s choice of sounds that seem to flow out of the strings.
Swedish duo Pacific! are returning in September with a concept album inspired by (an named after) the Greek myth of Narcissus.
Looking like it will me something deeper, more mysterious, musically, than what we are used to from them with trailers for the project ranging from epic dance tracks to atmospheric soundscapes.
The first official track from the album to drop is ‘Venus Rising’, a Prog-Space-Disco journey that is, in equal parts, dark and brooding, and optimistic and frantic.
You get the feeling the album is going to be something special.
New Dragonette in the electronic rumors inbox is never a bad thing!
Their new single, ‘Our Summer’, is released later this month followed by ‘Mixin’ To Thrill’, an album of reMixes from the past year.. ‘Our Summer’ is a stompin’ good Electro party tune that will surely whip the crowd into a frenzy on their forthcoming US tour. Defiantly more straight Electro than the band have released before, I’d go so far as to say it’s pretty Electro-Punk!
‘Our Summer’ drops 27th July and ‘Mixin’ To Thrill’ is released August 3rd both digitally and in a limited edition physical package available exclusively through dragonette.com.
We posted the Villa reMix of Ali Love’s forthcoming single ‘Smoke & Mirrors’ a while back, it was just one more reason to get exited about his, should-be-out-an-time-now, new album, ‘Love Harder’.
Well, ‘Smoke & Mirrors’ drops this week and right here you can check out the original, which is a funkin’ cool Disco-Pop jam that has the potential to propel Mr. Love chartwards. Bottin, who always captivates with his deep synth mixes, pushes things over to the cosmic side of Disco making Ali’s smooth funk sound like a robot invasion from the 70’s.
