Tubetops’ Warmer Still’ video

Do you like dogs? It seems Brooklyn based funky Indie-Electro troupe Tubetops do, as evidenced in their new video.

It’s for ’Warmer Still’ the title track of their new EP, a collection of four garage ElectroPop tunes with a nice chilled vibe and a quirky attitude. Oh yeah, and dogs.

Le Prix’s ‘Cosmonova’

le prix

We feel like we’ve been waiting for this single to drop for ever! Finally sees the long awaited (around here certainly) ‘Cosmonova’, the new single from Le Prix and the first commercial release from Girlfriend Records. Girlfriend have, of course, have a good few years of supplying us with the best in Dreamwave and SynthWave for free, so let’s all show them some support as the move into this new phase.

‘Cosmonova’ is a piece of cosmic SynthWave that is pure bliss. Built around a rolling late ‘80’s House beat, it’s a ten minute journey to other galaxies. Worth of Vangelis’ more spacey work, Le Prix takes his time, building an otherworldly synthetic atmosphere. With an infection lead riff, one that will seriously stick in your head, and layers upon layers of Sci-Fi synths Le Prix has delivered what con only be described as a interplanetary SynthWave masterpiece. reMixes come from FM Attack, who turns in a killer retro synth Disco track with strong Italo overtones. It’s a beautiful, haunting dance track with a hint of Pet Shop Boys about it. The main thing to take away from this reMix is that FM Attack truly is a master at what he does and we don;t hear nearly enough from him. Meanwhile Johnatron keeps the space age riff in place and applies tit to a thick, warping, Disco groove before bring in some Acidic synth action and some late night dancefloor chaos. The ‘Cosmonova’ package was worth the wait, and a stunning entrance into the world music market for Girlfriend.

While we’re hear let’s take another look at the awesome trailer for ‘Comosnova’, apparently it was planned to be turned into a full length video, but timing constrains on animator Kilian Eng prohibited that. Even at 43 seconds though, it’s spectacular.

Le Prix’s ‘Cosmonova’ is out right now on Girlfriend Records.

iamamiwhoami’s ‘Idle Talk’ video

‘Idle Talk’ is the lasted video from Scandinavian electronic ice-queen iamamiwhoami.

In true iamamiwhoami style the video (kinda’) carries on from the last, ‘In Due Order’. The track is a much smoother side to iamamiwhoami, nice spacey ScaniPop.

The ‘Good Worker’, ‘Drops’ and ‘Server’ singles are out now.

Nyteowl ‘Love Of Mine’ video

We had a listen to the MiGHty mOUse reMix of  Nyteowl’s forthcoming new single ‘Love of Mine’ loast month. the single has been pushed back to the end of April, so that give us a chance to check out the new video for the track.

Directed by Erin Michelle Vassilopoulos and Raechel Bosch and it’s generally pretty unsettling. Luckily that is soothed by the sweet analog DiscoPop of the track. With reMixes from Boy 8-Bit, Brassica and Hyboid as well it should be an awesome release.

Nyteowl ‘Love Of Mine’ is released 30th April on Juno’s new label, Love Interest

Pégase’s ‘The Bad Side Of Love’ video

We haven’t written about Pégase since way back in 2009! Pégase is, of course, the side project of Raphaël, the lead singer of the utterly amazing Minitel Rose. Both of which we have heard far to little from in recent years. Better later than never though, as Pégase releases his début (really?) EP.

Here’s the video for ‘The Bad Side Of Love’ the lead track on the ‘Without Reasons’ EP, directed by Nicolas Davenel. The EP contains reMixes from Giraffage, Les Et Les Garcons, Ruckazoid &  Equateur and is a welcome return from one of the founding fathers of Dreamwave.

The ‘Without Reasons’ EP is out now.

Punks Jump Up’s ‘Mr. Overtime’ video

Punks Jump Up’s ‘Mr. Overtime’ has already provided us with one of the best tracks of the year so far, and some of the best reMixes of the year too. Now, completing the hat-trick, it provides us with one of the best videos of the year.

Maxime Bruneel directs this neon soaked, retro styled, animated exploration of utter cool. We wish life looked like this!

‘Mr. Overtime’ is released 30th April on Moda.

Goin’ Old School: Imagination, Front 242 & Tangerine Dream

Goin’ Old School isn’t a trip down music memory lane, it’s a mugging in the dark alleyway of nostalgia:

First up is some seriously smooth early ‘80’s, 1982 to be exact, electronic Soul from Imagination and their classic ‘Just An illusion’.

In the starkest contrast possible we have Front 242, with arguably their Poppiest song, ‘Tragedy For You’ from 1989.

And finally some relaxing, experimental, tones from Tangerine Dream’s ‘Tiergarten’ from 1985. Actually the flip side to ‘Le Parc’, one of the greatest synth tracks ever written.

Going Old School: Sweet Exorcist, Squash Gang & Curiosity Killed The Cat

Goin’ Old School isn’t a trip down music memory lane, it’s a mugging in the dark alleyway of nostalgia:

Early Warp goodness from Richard H Kirk’s Sweet Exorcist moniker with some ace Bleep House in 1989’s ‘Testone’. Jarvis Cocker directed the video!

Try Squash Gang’s ‘I Want An Illusion’ from 1986 for some pure Euro Italo goodness.

Don’t ask me why Curiosity Killed The Cat’s 1986 hit ‘Down To Earth’ is here, I was just in the mood.

Rebeka’s ‘Stars’ video

Rebeka’s ‘Stars’ will be the next release on Discotexas. This Polish duo make eclectic ElectroPop the likes of which we are starting to see a resurgence of. And I’m quite looking forward to the summer of quirky DiscoPop.

Check out the video for their début, its a suitably glittery affair for the Mirror People produced tune. Balbina Bruszewska & Katarzyna Baraniewicz directed.

‘Stars’ is released 20th April on Discotexas with reMixes from Punks Jump Up.

Strangers ‘Shine On you’ video

London SynthPoppers Strangers’ new single ‘Shine On You’ has finally gone and got itself a video! I’m glad it did, it’s definitely a track deserved of visuals.

Tom Doran directs this clip, with an epic visual style to match the majestic sound of the track. ‘Shine On You’ truly is anthemic  and the video does it;s best to live up to that.

‘Shine On You’ is out this week on Killing Moon Limited/Beatwolf Records.
