Cinnamon Girl’s ‘Devil In Me’ video

Despite a relentless, and I suspect expensive, PR onslaught we haven’t really been that taken with any of London based Dane Cinnamon Girl’s output so far. That’s changed, though, with her new track Devil In Me.

With a clip directed by Joanna Dudderidge, Devil In Me is a rip roaring retro ElectroPop extravaganza. Loaded with 80s references, both musically and vocally, and big contemporary production The video is suitably 80s styled.

Devil In Me is out now, available from Cinnamon Girl’s Bandcamp.

Alice In Videoland’s ‘Spaceship’ video (sort of)

We really don’t know what’s going on with original ElectroPopPunks Alice In Videoland. They’ve been quite for so long now we had presumed they’d called it a day. We hope that’s not the case, and maybe the fact that they’ve pulled out all the stops to finally the release the video for their 2010 hit Spaceship is a good sign.

We remember seeing stills from this clip a few years ago. From what we can gather the video was filmed then most of the footage was lost in a hard drive crash and the video was scrapped.. Rather than letting it go to waste, it appears that Toril and Anders took it upon themselves to salvage what footage was left, spend some time learning about editing, and finish it themselves. The result is more a bit of fun than anything, mostly made up of outtakes, but it’s good to see it finally put together. We wonder how it would have looked with the real effects, we remember seeing photos of Toril and giant gorilla arms and stuff.

Spaceship is taken from Alice In Videoland’s forth album, A Million Thoughts And They’re All About You. Out now.

Goin’ Old School: Nitzer Ebb, The Shamen, Duran Duran

Goin’ Old School isn’t a trip down music memory lane, it’s a mugging in the dark alleyway of nostalgia:

Nitzer Ebb’s Control, I’m Here from1988. Classic Ebb, before they went a bit funny.

The Shamen 1988 Indie hit Jesus Loves Amerika. Not moving any mountain now are we? The Shamen, post-Industrial, pre-Mr. C.

1981 saw Duran Duran’s chart breakthrough with Planet Earth. It stared a revolution.

Russ Chimes’s ‘Back 2 You’ video

Here’s the video for Russ Chimes’ latest massive tune Back 2 You. A big tune requites a big video.

The clip was written and directed by Alex Nicholson at Meat Grinder Films. There’s wandering around London involved, I’m not sure if there’s a plot, I was too busy rocking out to the track.

Russ Chimes’ Back 2 You is released 30th July as a Beatport exclusive.

Sizarr’s ‘Boarding Time’ video

Relentless tribal drumming and icy synths about in the new single from Germany’s dark Indie-ElectroPoppers Sizarr.

It’s a suitably ‘Berlin’ video for the track, Boarding Time,  all broken video effects and oppressive cityscapes.

Sizarr’s Boarding Time is out 19th August.

Washed Out’s A Dedication’ video

Washed Out’s A Dedication is just one of many beautiful, dreamlike, peices on his album, Within And Without. And Chillwave works so well accompanied by nice, hazy video. So here we go.

Yoonha Park directed this stunning clip with a really nice eye for colours and framing.

Charli XCX’s The Internet reMix video

This is the new official video for Odd Future’s The Internet reMix of one of the best songs of the year, Charli XCX’s You’re The One. The reMix is nice enough, not a patch on St. Lucia’s but it’s got a nice groove. The rapping, however, by Mike G, is some of the laziest, worst rhyming we’ve ever heard. Shame really, it ruins quite a cool mix.

Directed by Claire Boyd and Rayn Andrew, the video is all a bit three years ago. We’ve seen the whole Goecities/.gif thing done so many times now, admittedly this is probably the best we’ve seen it done, but it’s still done.

The You’re The One EP is out now, the single version is released 19th August.
