[MP3] Black Magic Disco edits Joey Musaphia’s ‘I Miss You’

joey_musaphia

UK ex-pat and all round slick producer of House and Disco, Black Magic Disco, has put together this little re-edit of House and Garage legend Joey Musaphia’s I Miss You. Originally taken from his now sought after Cover Ups Vol. 1 EP and itself a radical reworking of Hard Drive’s Deep Inside, the track is a club classic and BMD brings it right to 2013’s dancefloors.

This track is summer nights incarnate (although not really as music doesn’t have form, but you get the gist). Six minutes of shuffling Garage beats and warm synths gliding along like there was nothing smoother in this world. Snippets of vocal are played around with, big sweeps are indulged in and the crowd are left in a state of hypnotic euphoria. Download and add to your crate.

[Audio] ATTAR! reMixes Body Language’s ‘Well Absolutely’

Body Language

On Tuesday we introduced you to Brooklyn Indie-DiscoPoppers Body Language’s new single, Well Absolutely. The single is out now and features a tasty reMix from Belgian analog groover ATTAR! who adds to our summer house trip with a slink little Chicago number.

Completely eschewing Disco, these days, for deep House vibes ATTARI! draws on bouncy, yet moody, synth bass and slowly evolving dark future tones to create smothing that bridges the gap between Chicago 1987 and Los Angeles 2019. Taking the length of the track to build up some dancefloor tension, ATTAR! uses warping lead lines to coax the dancer into a trance. Eerie rain soaked Cyberpunk atmospheres with a nostalgic dance groove? Yes please.

[Video] Goin’ Old School: Information Society, D-Mob (Feat. Gary Haisman) & Five Star

Goin’ Old School isn’t a trip down music memory lane, it’s a mugging in the dark alleyway of nostalgia:

A mixed bag today kicking off with post-EBM SynthPoppers Information Society and their 1988 hit Walking Away.

The song that alerted the UK press to the existence of Acid House, D-Mob & Gary Haisman We Call It Acieed, from 1988.

And some smooth ElectroPop Soul from Five Star‘s 1986 hit, Can’t Wait Another Minute.

[MP3] Reflex’s ‘Together’ reMixes (with Punks Jump Up, Oxford and Tempogeist)

Reflex

Our favourite French duo (which is quite a sweeping statement, ‘cos, y’know, Daft Punk) Reflex are back, mere weeks after the release of their new single, Together, with a swanky reMix collection to fill your ears with. Together is currently out on Jerry Bouthier’s Continental Records with the reMix collection coming next week. The line up for the package includes the like of Colour Vision and Tronik Youth, alongside Punks Jump Up, Oxford and Tempogeist.

Punks Jump Up’s take on the track is full-on jackin’ House. This one’s all thumping 909 beats, thick basslines and an utterly compelling piano hook. Ripe to get the dancefloor whipped into a frenzy in some dark, strobe lit, club, Punks Jump Up’s reMix is just a pure House juggernaut. Oxford, on the other hand, turns-in a typically smooth Disco reMix, all rolling basslines and vintage stabs. A lush slice of laid back synth Funk, Oxford’s version injects the release with a little poolside cool. Playing out the EP with some shuffling retro Funk is Tempogeist, who’s massive reMix combines synthetic Nu-Disco with slick vintage Pop sheen, delivering a version of Together with a feel of a 80s extended 12” reMix, this one;s a free download too. It’s a storming reMix package and a nice compliment to the original single, easily worth your attention.

[Audio] Grum and Small Pyramids headline Glasgow Underground’s ‘Summer Of Love ’13’

Summer Of Love '13

One of the UK most dedicated, and forward thinking, House stables, Glasgow Underground (out of somewhere or other up north) are following on from their huge The Underground Sound Of Glasgow compilation from Optimo (which, bizarrely, kept me occupied recently for much of a massive coach trip to, coincidentally, Glasgow) with a new EP collecting some of their hot tips for the summer. This release goes big and deep with names like Ovr Kill and Mastercris alongside these two gems.

Grum jumps back onto our radar with this reMix of Kevin McKay’s 2011 club hit Body Talk. With this tune we’re treated to the next step in the evolution of Grum. From Dreamwave to Nu-Disco to Trance and now another step along his inevitable House path. Grum effortlessly weaves all the tricks he’s learnt along his music journey into a pretty unique sound that has it’s roots, and feet, in packed warehouses but it’s mind is at the beach. Here he whips McKay’s Olivia Newton John sampling bouncy House tune into a moody and futuristic electronic epic with an infectious mixture of bleepy House and Dubby effects. Another post-Dreamwaver experimenting with a little Dub in their House is Small Pyramids, who’s Don’t Do It To Me is a hypnotic Chicago track that creates a nice spacious sound, spreading out the sound a creating a groove for a soulful vocal. There six track on the whole release, and it;s definitely well worth checking out.
