Lissi Dancefloor Disaster’s new EP

Lissi Dancefloor Disaster

The Swedish abstract ElectroPop duo of Josefin Lindh and Johan Tilli, otherwise known as Lissi Dancefloor Disaster (so named after Johan former cat) have just released a brand new EP, titled appropriately in LOLcat speak ‘As We Plz’.

The lead track is ‘Pop Musiiic’ a wailing electronic ode to the 3m30s Pop song and it’s promised ability to lift you from hopelessness. This is ElectroPop art it’s rawest. Raucous drums and screeching synths, a combination you’d expect to create a accompany, but somehow it all works together in a beautiful way. SynthPop with a Rock ‘N’ Roll swing, ‘Pop Musiiic’ is fun, Poppy and slightly chaotic and that’s what makes it great. One of the highlights of the EP, for me, is the track ‘Glowing Hearts’, which musically is more traditional SynthPop with an 8-bit twist but juxtaposes that with some pretty dark lyrical subject matters. Fellow Scandinavians Lo-Fi-Fnk contribute a reMix to the package, turning ‘Pop Musiiic’ into a quirky, left-field vocal House track.

16. Digitalism – Circles (Moonlight Matters Re Dub)

Also today (busy day!) the MM has dropped a brand new track, ‘Ice Beer’, which is pretty epic at seven minutes but all of it is maxed out with Funk. Feeling like an instrumental spiritual successor to ‘Between The Pavement And The Stars’, ‘Ice Beer’ plays off the stabs of it’s predecessor but layers rich, emotive, piano and a driving groove. One of the first from MiGHty mOUse since the separation of band and production/DJ outfit, this bodes well for the future of MM.

Holy Ghost!’s ‘Hold My Breath’ reMixes

Holy Ghost!

Out today on DFA is Holy Ghost! reMix package for ‘Hold My Breath’, one of our favourite tracks from their storming self-titled début album.

Tiger & Woods deliver a synth Funked up with a touch of Acid and a hypnotic groove. Laden with ‘80’s Electro stabs and clocking in at just under ten minutes the track is almost a meditation on dance. Cosmic Kids’ deep Disco take on the tune is full of ominous analog synths, but keeps the tune at it’s Poppy core amidst all the moody warehouse sounds. To be honest, neither is a patch on the original, but do make a nice compliment.

Kris Menace & Rex The Dog, Kris’ Mix

krismenace

We’ve already featured both the original and Rex’s reMix  of Rex The Dog and Kris Menace ‘s team-up record, ‘POW!’. It’s released today, so let’s check out Kris’ own take on the track.

Just like Rex’ version, you can definitely tell the is is the Kris Menace end of the collaboration. ‘Kris’ Club Mix’ is a pure dancefloor attack, accentuating the screaming rave synths. Less introvert that the original, this mix strips the tune back to it’s basic dancefloor DNA and builds upon everything that will have them with their hands in the air.

Fare Soldi reMix Gigamesh

gigamesh

If you haven’t already picked up Gigamesh’s new self-titled EP rest assured it comes highly recommended for putting some groove in your weekend.

In celebration of the recent release Italy’s madcap Disco heads Fare Soldi have dropped their reMix of ‘So Intense’ that features on this weeks full reMix package release. The track is classic Fare Soldi, only the most powerful and in-your-face Italo influenced Disco-House, with a sense of fun. When the bassline kicks in you can’t help but move, and grin, to this.

New video from Canyons

Canyons new video for their ‘See Blind Through’ is as much of an early ‘90’s house affair as the song itself! The track features a splash of Nite Jewel’s Ramona Gonzalez.

Director Daniel Brereton must have been studying videos from everyone from Orbital to Soul II Soul!

Metronomy’s new single

Metronomy

Indie-ElectroPop darlings Metronomy’s new single ‘Everything Goes My Way’ come complete with a hold host of pretty awesome reMixes.

the single was released at the start of this week and features Veronica Fall’s Roxanne Clifford helping out with the vocals. the headliner reMix comes from Ewan Pearson, who’s deeply electronic reMix combines a retro synth bassline with the kind of intricate programming that makes me think of the first Simian Mobile Disco album, but with more of a Disco vibe. It’s great, involving, Electro stuff. Psychemagik go for a more early ‘90’s House flavour with a post-Chicago deepness (despite “post-Chicago deepness” being a dick thing to say, it does kinda’ sound like that) and just the right amount of M1 piano and airy pads.

Nyteowl & Hyboid

Nyteowl

Nyteowl are a Minneapolis outfit that mixes up ElectroPop styles in a thick Deep House groove on their new single ‘Love Of Mine’.

With a slight R&B slant to the vocals and a smooth synthesizer Funk leaning to the synths the track breaks out from he confines of the Detroit bassline to embrace everything that comprises it. It’s mid-temp Pop groove sitting surprisingly well with classic House bassline. The 12” is out soon on Juno Records new label Love Interest and features a reMix by our friends Hyboid who bring in a nice ‘80’s quality to the track, rolling arpeggiated basslines and electro toms bring up the energy from the laid back original and plant to squarely on the dancefloor that reaches it’s peak when the shimmering, chime solo come in and sends the track skyrocketing.
