[MP3] Avec Sans reMix Swiss Lips

Swiss Lips

Manchester’s Swiss Lips might be pretty irritating, but they sure can write a catchy chorus, and more to the point, sure can pick some amazing reMixers. Next up to tackle their single U Got The Power is the so-far flawless London based ElectroPop duo Avec Sans. Avec and Sans are two words we just can’t resist, and for good reason.

Avec Sans really do make the track their own, giving the track the same kind of shimmer that their two original releases have, with a hint of Chvrches’ Lies in there too (which is unsurprising seeing as Avec Sans and Chvrches are the new sound of British ElectroPop, there’s bound to be some crossover in there somewhere). Applied to Swiss Lips tune, Avec Sans rushes of synthetic emotion and punchy basslines become the tracks centrepiece, merely accompanied by the vocals. We do love Avec Sans sound around these parts.

[Audio] Silent Gloves & Patrick Baker

Silent Gloves

Out this week is the début proper release from Dayton SynthWave Silent Gloves. Long-time staple of the SynthWave scene ‘Gloves has roped in Disco’s current vocal darling and ElectroPop trailblazer in his own right Patrick Baker to Pop up his SynthWave and between the two of the they deliver So Real, a massive slice of classic Pop.

So Real is as close to perfect American 80s Pop music as is probably humanly possible to get. It’s one of those track you just have to listen to, there’s no way we could explain the energy and excitement of So Real, the rolling arpeggiated bassline, the lush, authentically 80s synths, Patrick’s sweeping vocal. It’s pitch perfect nostalgic Pop, totally evocative of the mid-80s and catchy as hell to boot. With a track like this you really do have to rope in the big guns for reMix duties, and the SynthWave scenes heavy hitters are on board. Outrun pioneer Miami Nights 1984’s take on the track delivers a high octane rendition of the original. The bassline more driven, the synth more stabby and the groove more street, MN84 turn in the montage version of So Real. the king of soundtrack Electro Mitch Murder brings his FM dreamscapes to the single package with a reMix that channels the best 80s electronic ballads and proves one again, that whatever mood Mitch turns his hand to he makes his own. Simple question. Do you like retro electronic music? If you answered that question with a ‘yes’, then you need to buy this whole single package right now.

[Audio] Vince Clarke reMixes Chad Valley

Chad Valley

You know you’ve made it when you can get the most important person in SynthPop to reMix your tracks. We’ll deserved too, Oxford ChillPopster Chad Valley’s Young Hunger album was one of the highlights of last year, now he’s got SynthPop legend Vince Clarke, of Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Erasure & The Assembly fame, to rework his track Up And Down. Exciting stuff.

And Vince certainly works his classic SynthPop credentials here,it’s a nice contemporary take on a 80s sound. Almost Erasure-like in places, the reMix rides along on a bouncy synthetic bassline and popping percussive synths while all the time delivering a stomping dancefloor beat. Working well with Hugo’s vocals, in fact making them sound totally retro, Vince proves once again why he is as revered as he is.

[Audio] A.A. Wallace’s ‘Temporal Suspension’

A.A. Wallace

A.A. Wallace hails from Halifax, Canada and having moved on from being in Garage Rock band Sleepless Nights, he’s turned his hand to ecclectic ElectroPop. Having dropped a load of tracks online, he about to release his début album, to be titled Disambiguation, and ahead of it unleashes the records lead single, Temporal Suspension.

Laden with glitchy beats, quirky organ and impassioned vocals, Temporal Suspension, comes across like a more BedroomPop Passion Pit. It’s a track that manages to walk the line between anthemic and introspective and has so much quirk and personality amongst it’s toy-town synths and distorted laments, it;s hard not to get drawn into it.

♫ A.A. Wallace – Temporal Suspension

A.A. Wallace’s Disambiguation is released 6th May via Arcadian Embassy.

[MP3] Vanbot’s new single

Vanbot

Good news everyone! Sweden’s finest Vanbot is back with a brand new single. We’ve been dying to post When My Heart Breaks since it broke ground last week, but until now it’s been a Spotify exclusive. Leaving the argument about making it exclusive on such a platform being damaging to a release campaign aside, we’ve very pleased it’s now available to buy, and to play to you lot. It was worth the wait.

Following on from January’s Hold This Moment, When My Heart Breaks is a huge, infectious slick of Scandinavian ElectroPop brilliance. Powerful and majestic as Ester cries out against a back drop of massive synths and pounding drums. It’s been a while singe Vanbot’s début (and amazing) self-titled album, and you can hear in When My Heart Breaks that she’s been honing her craft making us more excited for her next long player than ever. Pretty flawless ElectroPop. Sweden nails it again.

[Audio] Monsieur Adi reMixes Say Lou Lou

Say Lou Lou

We’ve been looking forward to this one. We twigged a few weeks ago that the amazing Monsieur Adi was reMixing the new single from Australian/Swedish sisters Say Lou Lou new single Julian. It’s a deep, emotional song, just the kind of thing that we imagined Adi could really get his teeth into, and he did, and here it is.

It’s actually quite old school Adi. A warm Dreamwavey Nu-Disco track, loaded with ElectroPop affectations. A big French Touch floorfiller, Adi plays with the mood of the track perfectly, giving it a dancey boost without loosing and if the tune’s inherent romanticism. Pulsing synthetic bass, effecting stabs and big airy pads mingle together and wisp around the vocals like smoke. Adi the producer of the moment, and in high demand, and this reMix shows just why. This is how you reMix for the dancefloor and stay classy.
