[Audio] Say Lou Lou X Lindstrøm’s ‘Games For Girls’

say-lou-lou1

Australian/Swedish majestic ElectroPop sisters Say Lou Lou are already touting the release of their long awaited début album, and it;s not going to be here until early next year! It’ll be called Lucid Dreaming and despite not being available until February 2015, we can already get excited for it with their brand new single, a collaboration with Norwegian Cosmic Disco master Lindstrøm. Let the good times roll!

We have to admit, we found it a immediately a little jarring to hear Say Lou Lou in the context of quirky Scandinavian analog Disco, but as soon as you settle into the groove it all seems to make sense. Say Lou Lou, obviously, appear a lot less serious and a lot more fun as their intertwining vocals bounce over a cheeky arpeggiated bassline and and a sweet plethora of playful synths. It’s good to hear Say Lou Lou branching out in the lead up to their album. If we were interested before, we are super interested now!

[Audio] Ben Macklin reMixes Julian Sanza & Future Feelings’ ‘The Feeling’

Julian-Sanza_

Well this is quite a meeting of talent! Julian Sanza, Colombian groovemeister, and Mexican Nu-Disco outfit Future Feelings’ smooth The Feeling has been previously released via Eskimo Recordings on their The Blue Collection album. Now, courtesy of Nein Records it’s getting a full reMix package that’ll feature the likes of Tronik Youth and Avanti serving up versions of the track alongside this summery jam from London’s Ben Macklin.

Macklin serves up a lush, breezy, House tune with one foot in a Disco groove. Getting well into the laid back vocal, Ben washed the track in hazy synths and a shimmering piano hook. Set to a choppy bassline, this reMix delivers all the bright and uplifting sounds you want from a feel good sunshine track, but keeps things strictly in the chilled out zone. The weather has turned pretty awful here in the UK, but as soon as the sin comes out again this one is on repeat.

Body Language

Brooklyn troop Body Language as seriously knocking out of the park with their new tune. Drip feeding up tracks from their forthcoming new EP, Infinite Sunshine, they have arrived at the blissful Disco House of Good Things. The EP is released as a free download 12th August, check out Good Things below for a taste of what to expect this week.

The four piece slowly introduce you to the track with a haze of woozy synths before launching into a thick synth Funk groove. A relaxing, but upbeat, vibe permeates the track, facilitated by an array of analog synths and a steady bassline. Angelica Bess’s slick vocals drop in and out of the track, introducing a little soul as the track dabbles with a kinda’ 90s Acid-Jazz feel set to an Electro Nu-Disco tune. We’re eagerly awaiting the EP.

[Audio] Shook’s ‘Violet Hues’

shook

It’s pretty much exactly a year sing Dutch musical prodigy Shook release his self titled début album, whether coincidence or not, the man has chose this week to première his first brand new tune is what feels like ages. Violet Hues, is here to remind us of what an exceptional musician Shook really is, as he teams up with someone (who we have no idea who) with a beautiful voice to drop a hazy slice of sweetness.

Smokey vocals, waves of calm and shimmering synths, a funky but gentle bassline; Violet Hues is like a warm blanket of funk, a groovy dream. The bassline really underpins the track, chugging along with a restless groan, carrying the layers of heady sounds that life your spirits on every listen. Add to the mix the sweetest of vocals leading up to a magical synth and piano solo; and need we say more? Amazing stuff, and a welcome return for Shook.

We don’t normally write about tracks twice, but we’re going to make an exception here. ElectroPop queen Little Boots’ amazing vocal bootleg of Norwegian Cosmic Disco groover Todd Terje’s instantly recognisable Inspector Norse, which we wrote about a couple of weeks ago, is now available as a download, courtesy of Boot herself.

You can read what we wrote about it here, we won’t harp on about it again (but it is very very good). “hat you’re probably after is the track itself. Grab it below while it’s hot.

Little Bootleg Todd is so hot YouTube

Little Boots returned this this weekend to bring a ray of sunshine into our lives in the form of this cheeky bootleg of Norwegian Cosmic Disco king Todd Terje’s now legendary Inspector Norse. We’re not really sure what it’s called; it comes from a mixtape Boots did for Vice’s Thump website where it is noted in the tracklist as ‘Todd Terje – Inspector Norse (Little Bootleg)’, whereas she uploaded it to YouTube under the moniker ‘Little Bootleg – Todd Is So Hot’. So we’re calling it ‘Todd Terje (Feat. Little Boots) – Inspector Norse (‘Todd Is So Hot’ Little Bootleg)’, which we think nicely covers all the bases. Also; ‘Little Bootleg’ is genius.

Boots delivers an edit with a twist. Well, if you’ve got a voice like Victoria then why wouldn’t you sing all over stuff? Taking Inspector Norse, and already incredibly and catchy-as-hell- tune, to the next level, Little Boots lends the track a floaty layer of vocals, exceptionally suited to the burbling dancefloor groove. Terje delivers vintage, cosmic and quirky while Boot’s serves up shiny, glamorous and mirrorballed; the two work together perfectly. We’d love this to be released!

[Audio] Slam Dunk’d’s ‘No Price’ featuring Chromeo

Slam Dunk'd

There’s been a bit of hype about this forthcoming release from ‘mystery Disco supergroup’ Slam Dunk’d recently. It turns out Slam Dunk’d is Electro legend Arthur Baker with a little help from Al-P from MSTRKRFT; who have enlisted Chromeo’s Dave 1 for vocal duties for this début track No Price. This one’s huge, and will most probably be huge. Check it out.

No Price is classic Disco, so it’s no surprise to find out that it begun life in 1979 and the finished version soon to be released has got the feel of an Edit of a time-honoured track. Arthur Baker has had such a long and prolific career we can’t help but wonder how many other unfinished gems he’s got tucked away. Mixing up a little French Touch into the big strings vintage Disco sound Arthur baker has delivered a tune that pays homage to every generation of Disco. Dave 1’s vocals are the icing on the cake here, giving the track that little added slickness. Expect to be hearting this a lot.

[Download] Fare Soldi reMix Madonna’s ‘Holiday’

OUT028035

Seems like the recipie for the perfect sunshine tune. Take, what is arguable Madonna’s most chipper tune, Holiday, and give it to Italian Fico Disco pioneers Fare Soldi. right now we can’t think of a more perfect match to produce something that will, without fail, put a smile on your face.

Of course they kept the little synth Funk riff, why wouldn’t you? But Fare Soldi have teamed that up with a big bouncy bassline and a sweetly shuffling beat. Upbeat arpeggios and starlight keys spread out over a pair of duelling basslines (one bass, one synth) to serve up something think and funky and genuinely upbeat. Add a bit of Madge over to top and you’ve got something instantly recognisable to your ears and irresistible to your feet.

[Audio] Lenno reMixes Chromeo’s ‘Jealous (I Ain’t With It)’

chromeo

This, we imagine, is the last of our posts about Canadian funksters Chromeo’s Jealous (I Ain’t With It). Once the stems to a song like this are released into the world, everyone and their dog grabs those coat-tails. We already featured Ride The Universe’s amazing reMix of the tune, a slick laid back Disco stormer. At the other end of the spectrum sit our favourite Finn, Lenno, who takes the track straight to the big room. We’re not expecting anyone to do any better than these two, so case closed.

Taken from their new album White Women, Jealous (I Ain’t With It) was Chromeo’s first single from the album, but weirdly probably the album’s least-strong track. That is, before the likes of Lenno got their hands on it. As we’d expect from Lenno, he makes things truly massive with layers of hugs synths, perfectly produced, Building and building over a Boogie-esque bassline that gives the track a little Disco undertone, Lenno would have the dancefloor in the palm of his hand with this one. Dave 1’s vocals are just the icing on the cake here. We’ve got this on on repeat.
