[Audio] Karin Park & Pandora Drive’s ‘Hurricane’ (+ Maya Jane Coles reMix)

One of the best things going on in Scandinavia these days, the amazing Karin Park has teamed up with London duo Pandora Drive for her new single Hurricane. Karin has been drip feeding us hint of her forthcoming new album for a while now, and while we’re not certain if this particular collaboration will appear on the full lengther, it;s more indication that we love her recent sounds. there’s a full reMix package to from Booka Shade and Karin’s buddy Maya Jane Coles.

Karin’s collaborations with MJC are obviously wearing off on her. In fact Hurricane could have quite easily been taken from Maya’s Comfort album (on which Karin appeared) but with an added Indie-Electro sparkle.. It’s a good sound for Park, the warn and mysterious experimental take on Deep House provides the perfect dark and brooking, yet unbelievably dancefloor friendly, backing for her knife sharp vocals. Maya Jane Cole’s own reMix ups the hypnotic magic groove ante considerable. The pairing of Maya’s music and Karin’s vocal is always something we really enjoy and this reMix delivers in heaps.

[Audio] Pat Lok reMixes Gold Fields’ ‘Hold Me’

Pat Lok just doesn’t stop working, does he? He’s already dropped his latest tune this week and here comes his next reMix. This time the Canadian groover takes on Australian Indie-Electro outfit Gold Fields ‘ single of last year, Hold Me. This one is the perfect tide-over until the weekend. Turn it up!

Lok mixes up a little Deep House and a little classic early 90s House sheen on this one. Starting off smooth and silky, Lok soon brigs the big retro vibes and hammers home the dance energy with a big piano hook. There’s a woozy bassline underpinning an ecclectic take on House synths, Pat injects the track with his own personality here, while the original’s vocals swirl in a reverb-y haze around the track. Summertime grooves.

[Audio] Pat Lok’s ‘All In My Head’

Vancouver’s most prolific (and consistently brilliant) Disco/House producer Pat Lok is about to drop another new release, the man just keeps them coming. He’s kicking off 2015 in big style with his new single, All In My Head. For this one he’s brought on-board fellow Canadian Desirée Dawson to lay down some soulful vocals over a glorious Warehouse backing, Check it out.

Lok pulls out all the stops for his new one. Throwing a touch of Disco and a hint of Garage into a vintage 90s House mix he serves up a single that is rich and inventive whilst delivering all the classic House moments. The punchy bass/organ/electric piano combo cascades out of the speakers and is truly unstoppable, compelling you to move. Desirée’s vocals are pitch perfect, effortlessly sounding contemporary whist channelling House divas of the past and are totally in tune with Pat’s energetic, involving House tune. A real dancefloor destroyer, the reMix package is due out soon featuring work from the one and only Cyclist, Aussies Gold Fields, South London duo Howson’s Groove, and SYRE

[Download] Teeel’s ‘Imperial’ reMixed by MNYNMS

Here’s something petty sweet and blissful to kick off you week. This storming reMix of our favourite new Jersey synth master Teeel’s Imperial comes from new Texan duo MNYNMS (who shall henceforth be referred to as Many Names). Putting aside for a second our hatred of artists who just have names they’ve dropped the vowels from (c’mon, it’s not 2007 any more!), this is an absolutely beautiful slice of synthesizer gold that offers up something for both the feet and the heart.

Dropping the tempo and heaping on the lushness, MNYNMS give the track their own spin. Subtly introducing a slight laid back Deep House groove that has been wrapped up in warm SynthPop swirls to Imperial, this reMix takes all the things we love Teeel for (classic synthetics, majestic, magical and galactic moods and a relaxed dancefloor vibe) and runs with them; culminating in a richly textured and emotionally resonant SynthPop tune that demands to be stuck on repeat. Let this one carry you away.

[Download] ODahl’s ’37 Celsius’

It’s the season of giving; a fact that hasn’t escaped one of our favourite producers of Disco and House, Sweedish groovemeister Sweedish artists, ODahl. The man is giving away his latest tune that caps off a year where we’ve seen a little more of ODahl after a quiet stretch. Tunes like Your Love, released earlier this year on Pole Position, have been a bit of a constant in our headphones around these parts. Tuck in to his latest jam, 37 Celsius.

ODahl serves up a warm and involving deep sound on 37 Celsius. Blending several House disciplines into one comfortable whole, the Swede brings a little Deep, a little Bass, a little Chicago and a little Disco into seven minutes of smooth-as-silk dancefloor gold. Vocal snatches pepper the track, building the atmosphere, whole ODahl’s solid beats keep the groove. Hold tight for the four minute mark where things get a tad warehouse.

Ali Love’s P.U.M.P. album is amongst our favourite LPs of the year. Oof the record’s arresting highlights, Picture Perfect, with it’s Sci-Fi analog Rave vibes, has been given a striking video treatment.

Matilda Finn directed the clip, a dizzying and glamorous hazy nightclub fantasy.

[Audio] Maya Jane Coles’ ‘From The Dark’

Mistress of dreamlike floorfillers Maya Jane Coles makes her return to Anja Schneider’s Mobilee this week In the 3 ½ years since her last she’s gone from strength to strength, including releasing one of our favourite albums of recent times, Comfort. The From The Dark EP features three utterly intoxicated tune, including this one; the lead track. Check it out.

Including some vocal work from French singer Moggli, From The Dark is an enigmatic and haunting tune that revels in Maya’s uncanny knack of being able to make deep, ominous tracks feel unbelievably warm. Low grooves and subby bass dominate the soundtrack alongside an unrelenting booming kick; while Moggli’s throaty, soulful vocals seem to envelop the music and swirl around it. This is stuck on repeat.

[Audio] Ben Macklin reMixes Deep Sound Express’ ‘After Rain’

Hey look! there’s a tune with features both Ben Macklin and Deep Sound Express, two artists that we’ve given a fair bit of support to in the past. Well, we say ‘support’, it’s not like we’re lending them money or anything, or helping out round the house, or comforting them in times of grief. It’s more of a waving a flag at the side-lines kinda’ support. We’re certainly not load bearing. So, here’s Mr. Macklin reMixing a track that first featured on Pole Position Recordings and Glam Jam Artists’ Pole Jam Vinyl label’s début release.

Deep Sound Express’ After Rain features the vocals of Raha and is generally considered one of Pole Positions finest moments; so they’ve just released a reMix package for the track. Enter Ben Macklin. Ben serves up a smooth and soulful take on the tune. Warm and retro, the track conjures the Electro Soul of the 80s and Poolside Disco of the now and peppers it with a laid back Piano House flavour. The slickest of slick jams.

[Audio] Dart Party’s ‘Going My Way’

Released late last week was the début single from Queens based producer Dart Party. Dart Party is the latest signing to Crazy Heart Records, the imprint owned by Ghost Beach, and for that reason we were debating featuring the track as we have zero respect for Ghost Beach after they used the very serious debate around artists being fairly compensated for their hard work in a cheap PR stunt to sell their latest record. They, and their American Eagle Outfitters paid-for billboard in Times Square set musicians arguments back a few years, essentially shitting on their ‘fellow’ musicians in an attempt to get e few more YouTube hits. It was an absolute joke that showed how little respect Ghost Beach has for music. However, Dart Party’s Going My Way is so good, you should ignore his label connotations and just sink into this luscious deep Disco and House goldmine.#

It’s Going My Way’s bassline that really grabs you here. A punchy retro synth bass that dominates the track and imbues it with a bouncy, yet gritty, vintage funk. It’s deep, but not Deep House deep, moreover it’s warm and enveloping, a sound to get lost in on the dancefloor. The spacious, distant vocal snatches lend the track a warehouse flavour. Going My Way, is a severely solid début that is well worth checking out. (Apologies for the Ghost Beach rant, they pissed off a lot of musicians though. Put it this way, if they annoy us that much and we still write about an artist on their label, then that artist must be pretty special!)

[Audio] Ku De Ta’s ‘Been A Long Time’

Here’s another monster tune from London’s Ku De Ta. This is the guys third release and each time they have severely impressed with their unique combination of UK Deep House power with an early 90s House flair. Like their première release, What’s Going On?, Ku De Ta’s new tune takes a 90s club classic and drags it kicking and screaming into 2014. This is Been A Long Time.

Riffing off of The Fog’s 1993 woozy floorfiller Been A Long Time, Ku De Ta take their time to build up a shuffling groove, easing big chords, House electric piano and vocal snatches into a rising symphony before launching into a bass heavy warehouse jam; loaded with soaring piano hooks and a slick breakdown. Drop this at peak time, they won’t be able to resist the beat.
