[Audio] Cassian’s ‘Find Out’ & ‘Could I Do’

cassian

Released this week via Nurvous Records is the new double A-side single from the king of the Sydney scene Cassian. The man has been dropping a succession of badass EP’s recently such as the Love Cuts EP and the 8 Voices EP and now he’s ready to top it all off by teaming up with the New York label for two storming House tracks. Find Out and Could I Do.

Find Out is first up and hits the ground running. layering choppy synths over a skippy Garage beat. Bring in the subs and the droning pads and you’ve got some excitement building. When the track kicks in you;re treated to haunting samples and a nod to Chicago with a hammering piano hook. The whole thing is a tough, relentless floorfiller with nothing but the dancefloor on it’s mind. Could I Do is a slightly smoother affair. Slightly. Rolling on a big, robotic boom of a bassline, the track builds up a frantic, but strangely chilled, groove, before serving up Rave samples and breakbeats that come from nowhere to whip the tune into a frenzy. Two massive crowd pleasers right here!

[Audio] The Juan MacLean’s ‘A Simple Design’

The Juan MacLean

A Simple Design is the latest epic (and we mean epic, another nearly eight minute opus) from DFA’er The Juan MacLean. Once again this one comes from his forthcoming new album, In A Dream, which is set for release next month. Alongside all those sweet vintage synths you also get frequent collaborator and fellow DFA crew Nancy Whang putting in some vocal work. Check out A Simple Design Below.

A Simple Design is anything but. A complex, multi-layered Cosmic Disco symphony as Whang, now pretty much a full time partner of The Juan MacLean, gives a New York Disco style performance, part SynthPop diva, part Post-Punk songstress, as waves of analog synths pop and glide around her. Add some skippy hi-hats to the mix, for added swing, and you’ve got an exciting, yet, thoughtful track that bodes extremely well for what the album might hold.

The next track from Röyksopp & Robyn’s amazing collaborative mini-album, Do It Again, to receive the video treatment is the moody and epic Monument. Probably the albums most emotional moment, and probably the most ripe for visual interpretation.

Max Vitali directs the clip which had a distinctly abstract Sci-Fi vibe to it. All stark tones to match the synth drones. The camera work really flows with the song on this one.

[Download] Moustache Machine’s ‘Live Fast’

Moustache Machine

Some breezy Electro Funk right about now from one of the masters of the genre, French Disco don Moustache Machine. The latest in his series of Sunday Jams this new tune is suitable for any day of the week. Pay attention while the Parisian producer gets his multi-instrumentalist groove on with Live Fast.

Live Fast plays out like an entire soundtrack to an early 80s action-comedy. It’s all in here, the theme, the introspective moments, the against-all-odds bit, the triumph; all se to a funkin’ slab bass and jazzy electric piano. Moustache Machine’s bassline is pure funk heaven, and doesn’t let up for the entire three and a bit minutes, giving the track it;s core. Meanwhile the man plays out various themes, intertwining them into a whole and laying out squelchy synths, loose piano and cheeky retro stabs. Madness!

[Audio] Shindu’s ‘Trust Me’ (+ Jesse Oliver reMix)

c

Shindu

Belgian ElectroPop duo Shindu launch back into the limelight this week with a brad new single released via Silhouette Music. Trust Me is their most 80s influenced track to date and takes the twosome into a more introspective territory. The single boasts a full package that comes backed with a fresh B-side and reMixes from Jesse Oliver and Gemini Brothers.

With almost a Post-Punk edge, Trust Me eschews dancefloor beats of rampaging military drums and Chibi bringing a somewhat Siouxsie Sioux-esque vocal flair over waves of moody synths. That’s not to say the track isn’t quite upbeat and catchy, it very much is. Jesse Oliver’s take on the tune gives off a deep Tech House vibe with a relentless synthetic bassline and an enigmatic strobe-light vibe. It;s a robotic funk counterpart to the immensely human original. The single is out this week and is well worth your attention.

[Audio] Goldroom’ ”Till Sunrise’

goldroom

You’d have to have been living under a rock the past couple of weeks, or maybe you just don;t write for a music blog, not to have been hammered with ‘preMixes’ if the new single from the producer of the mist blissful music in the world, Goldroom. It was actually a very interesting concept, release the stems for reMixing before anyone has heard the original and let creativity ensue, but as much as we love Josh we just hid under the aforementioned rock until the man himself dropped the original version of the track. which is now; so “hello world””

‘Till Sunrise features Australian electronic producer Mammals and was well worth the wait. I know we quite often refer to stuff as soundtracking the summer; but in real life as soon as the sun starts to shine we reach for some Goldroom tunes, and ‘Till Sunrise will be pushing it’s way toward the top of that pile. A slo-mo Disco dream that swirls hazy snyths, Topical purcussion, and the most warm and inviting of back beats, around your head as Mammals misty vocal rolls over the tune. Too chilled for Disco, to Disco for Chillwave, ‘Till Sunrise hits the sweet spot between the two. Dreamwave was always supposed to sound like this.

[Audio] MiGHty mOUse reMixes Mason’s ‘Gotta’ Have You Back’

Cover

UK Disco don MiGHty mOUse is back in business with this tasty reMix of Mason’s Gotta’ Have You Back. The Dutch duo’s new single features vocal work from Hercules And Love Affair collaborator Rouge Mary and is itself a pounding Electro stormer with soul. Listen to MiGHty mOUse groove the track up right nice below while you marvel at just how much Mason enjoy their little cartoon monsters.

Given such a musically tough track to work with, MiGHty mOUse keeps some of that abrasive grind in his reMix. A departure from his typical spaced out Disco goodness, the man flexes his Electro-House muscles with a gritty bassline and a sidechained pump. But don’t think for one minute that means the Disco has left the room, MiGHty mOUse keeps things 100% funky and utterly infectious. MiGHty mOUse will be announcing his new single soon, featuring one of his “favourite vocalists” which, if it’s what we think it is, is flipping awesome! Trust us.

[Audio] Say Lou Lou X Lindstrøm’s ‘Games For Girls’

say-lou-lou1

Australian/Swedish majestic ElectroPop sisters Say Lou Lou are already touting the release of their long awaited début album, and it;s not going to be here until early next year! It’ll be called Lucid Dreaming and despite not being available until February 2015, we can already get excited for it with their brand new single, a collaboration with Norwegian Cosmic Disco master Lindstrøm. Let the good times roll!

We have to admit, we found it a immediately a little jarring to hear Say Lou Lou in the context of quirky Scandinavian analog Disco, but as soon as you settle into the groove it all seems to make sense. Say Lou Lou, obviously, appear a lot less serious and a lot more fun as their intertwining vocals bounce over a cheeky arpeggiated bassline and and a sweet plethora of playful synths. It’s good to hear Say Lou Lou branching out in the lead up to their album. If we were interested before, we are super interested now!

[Audio] Ben Macklin reMixes Julian Sanza & Future Feelings’ ‘The Feeling’

Julian-Sanza_

Well this is quite a meeting of talent! Julian Sanza, Colombian groovemeister, and Mexican Nu-Disco outfit Future Feelings’ smooth The Feeling has been previously released via Eskimo Recordings on their The Blue Collection album. Now, courtesy of Nein Records it’s getting a full reMix package that’ll feature the likes of Tronik Youth and Avanti serving up versions of the track alongside this summery jam from London’s Ben Macklin.

Macklin serves up a lush, breezy, House tune with one foot in a Disco groove. Getting well into the laid back vocal, Ben washed the track in hazy synths and a shimmering piano hook. Set to a choppy bassline, this reMix delivers all the bright and uplifting sounds you want from a feel good sunshine track, but keeps things strictly in the chilled out zone. The weather has turned pretty awful here in the UK, but as soon as the sin comes out again this one is on repeat.
