New CHEW LiPS track!!!

Oh CHEW LiPS, how you’ve been missed! Sometimes it takes reconnecting with a thing it realise how much it was missed.

And this new demo CHEW LiPS have just dropped have really made me realise how much I have missed them. Or, to put it a better way, made me remember what it is about them I love so much. I have missed the stripped down production that still manages to sound huge, missed the layers of toy-town synths, missed Tigs’ sassy, soulful vocals that bring an instant warmth to the tracks and missed the sing-along choruses.

Their second album is still a long time coming, but if this demo is anything to go by, it has everything I have missed by the bucket load.

Gemini Club’s ‘Ghost’ reMixes

Gemini Club’s awesome ‘Ghost’ was defiantly one of our tunes of last year, in all it’s myriad reMix forms. This week sees the track’s proper release, at long last, as a massive reMix package.

Alongside the instant classic original version there’s reMixes you’ll already know, such a Hey Champ!’s, and some new versions from Only Children and Golden Bug. Also featured are these two mixes from Mr. Frankie Barretso and Indie-Electro Newcomers Blue Satellite. Barretso’s effort is a rapid fire Electro take on the tune that’s a pure dancefloor rush while Blue Satellite opt for a laidback, no worries, DiscoPop that’s the prefect smooth comedown.

Fenech-Soler’s ‘Stop And Stare’ video

Fenech-Soler aren’t gonna’ let a paltry thing like cancer stop their ElectroPop juggernaut! While’s Ben is getting himself back to good health the team Fenech-Soler are re-releasing my favourite single of theirs, ‘Stop And Stare’.

And here’s the video, it’s post-apocalyptic LDN TV trash chiqé, very 80’s, very blue tinged Max Headroom, very cool.

Enjoy:

All here at electronic rumors towers continue to wish Ben a speedy recovery.

‘Stop And Stare’ is out soon, Fenech-Soler’s self titled début album is out now.

Black Light Dinner Party’s ‘Older Together’

4 Producers, 3 cities and 2 years of sonic collaboration went into the début single from Boston’s Black Light Dinner Party.

‘Older Together’ is an impressive piece of Noise Pop, buzzing bass synths and live drumming from the rock of the song on with lush chords and American Indie-boy vocals growing organically on top. Indie-Electro will certainly get a shot in the arm when BLDP get round to dropping their album.

‘Older Together’ is out soon, until them catch them of Facebook:

The New Division

The New Division are a Southern Californian four piece who make some deep deep ElectroPop.

They released their début EP, ‘The Rookie’ earlier this year and plan to follow that with a new single ‘True Lies’ in April. With all the bright Dreamwave and cold Minimal Synth going on in California is surprising to find this band located there, they have a sound I would associate with the UK a lot more. I would say that The New Division tackle ElectroPop from a PostPunk flavoured SynthPop angle, even going so far as to say there are hints of Joy Division in there. Deep synths and reverb washed vocals characterise the band’s sound, although there is a little of that Californian warmth in the tracks. Maybe these guys are the bridge between Minimal Synth and Dreamwave?

Alice In Videoland in Mercedes commercial

Why am I posting a Mercedes commercial?

a) It features the music of Alice In Videoland, who are awesome and deserve all the exposure in the world.

b) It’s been a long day, I’m really tired and can’t be arsed with mucking around doing long music posts.

c) Again, I like giving AiV exposure!

The track is ‘Something New’ from AiV’s current album, ‘A Million Thoughts And They’re All About You’, out now:

Video Villain’s ‘Fearless’ out today!

We posted Video Villain’s ‘Fearless’ video a few months ago but we’re posting it again to remind you that it finally sees single release today.

It’s been a long time coming for VV, so let’s hope their brand of noisy Indie-ElectroPop srikes a chord with the masses and they receive the attention they deserve.

‘Fearless’ is available from iTunes or TuneTribe with more outlets coming.

a&r

Brooklyn based ElectroPop newcomers a&r have sent on over their cover of Billy Ocean’s ‘Caribbean Queen’, and it’s quite kickin’ indeed.

With a sound akin to fellow NYC imports The Vanish (where did they go?) with slightly more Disco about them the duo actually inflate the Disco Pop bombast of the original. Start listening to it and you’ll be thinking “yeah, this is a really cool ElectroPop cover, sweet” but then nothing prepares you for the massive Disco strings in the chorus, they’ve takes everything good about the original, the hook, the strings, the smooth and amplified it, then kicked its ass onto the dancefloor.

I know a few West Coast dudes who are going to love this!

a&r – Caribbean Queen (Billy Ocean Cover)

Listing to some of their other work it’s pretty clear that a&r are defiantly one to keep an eye on.

a&r are gearing up to release their second EP ‘Aquarium’ early this year. You can download their first EP from their official website:

Fenech-Soler Announcement

This just in from camp Fenech-Soler, I won’t bother paraphrasing, I’ll just copy and past what the guys wrote:

“We are really sorry to have to let you all know that Ben has very recently been diagnosed with early stage cancer. We are absolutely gutted for him, but know that he is in capable hands and he is in really good spirits considering the news. He has a short course of chemo treatment to get through and will be back fighting fit in a couple of months- the recovery rate for testicular cancer is extremely high.
This does mean that, with great regret, we will need to postpone our upcoming UK tour until after our busy festival period. This is also why we’ve had to reschedule our European tour.
We were massively looking forward to coming out and playing to you all later this month and we’re very happy that our Manchester and London dates have sold out in advance. For all those that were coming, your tickets will still be valid for the rescheduled shows. Details of those to be announced shortly. Please bear with us whilst those arrangements are made.
In the meantime, we are going to be very busy promoting our next single ‘Stop And Stare’. The doctors have reassured us that Ben will be fighting fit and ready to play a full set of summer festivals with the list already including Lovebox, Bestival, Camp Bestival, Parklife, Ibiza Rocks, Pukkelpop and Oxegen. Many more being announced over the next few weeks.
Again, we’re really sorry to have to postpone the UK and European shows but we’re sure you all join us in wishing Ben a speedy recovery.
Ross, Andrew and Daniel”

That’s some harsh news right there, but we all wish Ben good health and a fast recovery.

He’d better beat that damed cancer in time for Bestival or there’ll be trouble!

Get well soon Ben.

Jungle Fiction reMix Entrepreneurs

Our favourite Icelandic export Jungle Fiction are unstoppable! I’m still on the fence about Entrepreneurs, I can take them or leave them at the moment, but this reMix of their ‘Bubblegunk’ is pure Dreamwave dope!

Jungle Fiction take the original, strip out some of the contrived garageness of the original, keep the vocals and mash it into the kind of tune that is playing at the prom in any 80s’s teen movie, but with added balls. I love the way they ripped the guitar solo from the original turned it into 80’s epicness. This reMix soars!
