Strange Talk’s ‘Eskimo Boy’ video

This is the brand new video for Strange Talk’s ‘Eskimo Boy’. The track is taken from their awesome self-titled EP.

Director Garth Badger turns the soft-focus summery vibe up to eleven with a group of paradise castaways, a look that goes really well with Strange Talk’s brand of Indie-ElectroPop.

Strange Talk’s self titled EP is out now.

Torpedo

OK, this is a bit of an odd one for us, Torpedo class themselves as “Krautrock influenced…Electronic Alternative Rock”, which would normally make me run a mile (or delete the email immediate) but I gave it a listen, and it;s really grown on me.

I have no idea what their other tracks sound like but never would I have described ‘Islands In Eternity’ as “Electronic Alternative Rock”. There’s a definite Krautrock” influence going on but there’s very little Rock in this (thankfully!). What it actually is, is a cosmic, almost Proggy, electronic track that…actually, no, I see their point, it is pretty hard to describe. Suffice to say that of you like synthesizers and a big epic feel to your music you should give this a listen. ReMixes come from, amongst others, Wahlström & Valiant who turn the track into a big room Electro-House tune laden with ‘wohoop’ sounds and giant stabs!

It surprised me how much I likes this track, but I did, check it:

Jungle Fiction reMix Two Door Cinema Club

ReMixes of slightly old songs don’t always grab you but this mix of Two Door Cinema Club’s ‘Something Good Can Work’ by Icelandic Nu-Disco crew Jungle Fiction made me sit up and take notice.

Big, big, synths and a whole lot of groove dominate this mix. Building on the sound of their début EP the trio of young producers keep on expertly riding the line between pedal-to-the-metal Electro-House and smooth melodic Dreamwave with the kind of skill that easily ranks them up there with the Dangers and Kavinsky’s of the world.

Candy Apple Blue

Like a raw, punky version of Roxette, Pittsbergh based Indie-ElectroPop twosome Candy Apple Blue create music that sounds like a DIY take on 80’s stadium Pop.

Their new single ‘Tricks’ could easily be on the soundtrack to an 80’s Teen dramedy, maybe something Schumacher. I don’t really like using the term ‘New Wave’, I’m not sure it exists, or if it ever did (I’m of the opinion that is was invented just so Geffen could sell British SynthPop artists to the US rock market packaged with UK Post-Punk imports) but Candy Apple Blue are pretty New Wave. In the sense that they combine elements of SynthPop, Post-Punk Indie and 80’s Songwriting into a catchy sing-along package, which is actually a style that not many people are doing these days, sure there are loads of 80’s sounding ElectroPop acts but the likes of Candy Apple Blue are far to rare. We will be watching them with interest.

Candy Apple Blue – Tricks

Candy Apple Blue’s ‘Tricks’ EP is out 4th July and promises a host of reMixes!

Gigamesh & Foster The People

What a tune to come back from the weekend too! Gigamesh smashes this reMix of Foster The People’s ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ right out of the park!

With just the right mix of Indie-Electro and Disco Gigamesh has revamped FTP’s over-remixed ‘hit’ into a piano and electro tom laden summer anthem. A new lease of life for the track was defiantly needed for this song to get some of the summer play it so desperately wanted and Gigamesh has done just that.

The Good Natured’s ‘Skeleton’ video

Here we have the video for The Good Natured’s new single ‘Skeleton’. Sarah’s getting more and more mid-80’s indie by the day but keeps it wrapped-up in some catchy ElectroPop.

The Good Natured is managing to get she noir thing on, both lyrically , musically and visually without loosing any of her accessibility. Which is quite a feat.

We’re not going to use the word Goth, we’re really not…

The track is out to download 8th May, with a whole EP available 20th June.

Strange Talk

This track may be over a year old buy Australia’s  Strange Talk have just released their début EP and ‘Climbing Walls’ is blowing up.

And what better reason to celebrate it! You probably already know the track, it was featured on Kitsuné Maison 10 and is the prefect summery Indie-ElectroPop. It you don’t mind a little feel-good gangly guitar in your dance music then you’ll dig this tune for sure. Their sound is pretty Australian IndiePop (if you know what I mean) with hints of Two Door Cinema Club and Phoenix or The Naked And Famous, nice catchy tunes that would work well both live or on the dancefloor. Or to chill to.

Selebrities new video

Brooklyn New Wavers Selebrities are back with a new video for ‘Can’t Make Up My Mind’, a brilliant meeting of Disco and Shoegaze.

Taken from their forthcoming début album ‘Can’t Make Up My Mind’ gives a SynthPop flavour to a deep late 80’s Indie sound. I love how Selebrities are such a melting pot of influences, and they manage to make sometimes quite different sounds, work together perfectly.

Check the track too, it’s a great Walkman tune!
