Parralox début new video

Australian SynthPop heroes Parralox have débuted the video for their forthcoming single ‘Isn’t It Strange’. Like a female fronted, early ’90’s Depeche Mode, Parralox produce classic SynthPop, in the truest sense of the word. The new single is tinged with melancholy but a generally uplifting electronic Pop tune and this classy video works really well with the track.

I’ll tell you what, I’ve missed 90’s orchestral stabs!

‘Isn’t It Strange’ is released April 2010 on Conzoom Records.

NightWaves; new single and Beaumont reMix

NightWaves03

Coming straight out of LA based SynthPop/Dreamwave collective Binary Records, NightWaves have been throwing out some awesome tunes recently. I’m still rockin’ to their cover of ‘In The Air Tonight’!

Next week they duo drop their new single ‘Sweet Carrie’ and continuing the evolution of the NightWaves sound they’ve dropped some subtle guitars into the mix which blend pretty well with their dreamy synths. The tracks is pure summertime cool which, frankly, makes you wish you were somewhere else (unless, of course, you are already somewhere chillin’ in the sun, in which case, here’s your soundtrack!) You can check the video here.

Along with a killer package, our good friend Beaumont has contributed his take in the tune to the mix. The Aussie producer turns in sweet laidback Electro-House mix that makes brilliant use of cut-up vocals and finds a voice all of it’s own.

As a bonus the guys are releasing the stems of the track for all and sundry to reMix! Download them here.

‘Sweet Carrie’ drops next Tuesday on dubFrequency.

DāM-FunK covers The Human League

Dr. Martins, British footwear provider to the Indie inclined for, well, forever, are celebrating 50 years in the boot business by commissioning a whole heap of artists to cover 10 classic tracks.

This is the track you’ll be particularly interested in. La Electro-Funk agitator DāM-FunK taking The Human League’s ‘The Things That Dreams Are Made Of’ to Moog heaven.

Like Barry White channelling Phil Oakey this is a really raw Funk, bass heavy version.

Marina And The Diamonds reMixed by Lovers & Gamblers

MarinaAndTheDiamons05

More Marina And The Diamonds you say? Well that’s just fine! Especially as she is the target for the latest reMix by Little Boot’s posse Lovers & Gamblers.

A few reMixes in and we’re now starting to get a real feel for L&G’s style. I love the way they use their synths, it’s pretty stripped down, just concentrating on the groove, it’s like raw Electro Disco. I can imagine them, not surrounded by thousands of pounds worth of studio gear, but with a handful of trusty analog synths and a four-track! This reMix has a killer bassline, pretty aggressive but sweetened by the blanket of retro synth work over the top, and we know the original’s a good song anyway!

Is it just me or do Marina’s vocals really lend well to reMixes? More so than most?

The ‘I Am Not A Robot’ single is out on 26th April.

Penguin Prison & Starsmith; who could ask for more?

PenguinPrison04

After his sterling work on Ellie Goulding’s number 1 album, SynthPop prodigy Starsmith is back in the reMixing game and there’s not an artist I can thin of who I rather hear him reMix than Penguin Prison.

Tackling ‘The Worse It Gets’ for Penguin Prison’s recent double A side Starsmith turns in a sheer brilliant slice of Nu-Disco styled electronic Pop. The man was one of the most talented electronic music producers around anyway but I think his time chillin’ with Messrs Chimes and Grum has been a good influence on him! Really looking forward to his solo EP!

Konnichiwa

Konnichiwa

Kaela Noel and D.V. Caputo A.K.A. Konnichiwa are a New York based duo who make some retro sounding, reverb heavy, ElectroPop.

Having met as teenagers in art class they started swapping mixtapes and eventually began making music.

There is something really refreshing about Konnichiwa’s take on ElectroPop, they’ve got the 80’s move soundtrack basslines and arpeggios of Dreamwave but their effects heavy drums and toy synth leads lines give then a completely fresh sound.

Konnichiwa – Celestial Navigations (zShare) (MediaFire)

Konnichiwa are releasing a digital single 27th April with an album following later in the summer on Rainbow Body.

Two Door Cinema Club Vs. Ted & Francis at the beach!

TwoDoorCinemaClub03

Kitsuné’s Irish boys Two Door Cinema Club are re-releasing their single ‘Something Good Can Work’ with a proper push this time, it’s the prefect summer Indie tune. It’s feel good and anthemic in an understated way.

Part of the reMix package will be this track by fellow Kitsunérs Ted & Francis who take that perfect summer Indie tune and dish it up for the ElectroPop crowd, it’s still a fun, sing-along, chilled piece of work but now comes with added Disco bassline, quirky lead and handclaps before dropping you in the middle of the best Electro beach party you’ve ever been to!

New Delorean single

Delorian

Spanish SynthPop outfit Delorean have recently announced their signing with True Panther records along with a new single and début full-length album.

Gaining some recognition with their EP ‘Ayrton Senna’ (leading to offers to support Miike Snow on tour) Delorean have quite an eagerly awaited record on their hands.

‘Stay Close’ will be the first single form the album, ‘Subzia’, and it’s an upbeat, quite Lo-Fi, slice of summery SynthPop with a Hot Chip-esq lead line and loads of reverby backing vocal acrobatics!
