She Is Danger out-Dub Massive Attack

MassiveAttack

Massive Attack’s long awaited new album, ‘Heligoland’, drops on 8th February. Normally a new Massive Attack album is something to look forward to, but I think I am more so this time as it features a couple of tracks featuring vocals by Martina Topley-Bird, one of my favourite vocalists.

‘Girl I Love You’ isn’t one of them, but it has been given a heavy, heavy, Dub reMix by She Is Danger, who we have featured a couple of times before. Our favourite Dubstep girls play an almost flawless Dub game with slight Industrial overtones. Horace Andy’s recognisable vocals just ride what could be and old school Massive Attack track itself (albeit slightly more Electronic sounding). London? Are we sure these girls aren’t from Bristol?

If you’re into heavy beats and bass in any way She Is Danger are defiantly one outfit to keep an eye on!

LIGHTS’ comic-book adventures

It been almost a year since we wrote about Canadian Keytar queen LIGHTS, and what a busy year it has been for her. A couple of EPs and her full length CD, ‘The Listening’, were released on Sire and she is currently touring to globe with Owl City.

Late last year she released a series of motion comics titles ‘Audio Quest: A Capt. LIGHTS Adventure’ which even ended up being played on MTV.

A motion comic, for those who don’t know, is something both Marvel and DC are dabbling with right now. Not quite animation but more kinetic than a comic book panel, both comic giants have experimented with turning some of their bigger existing comic titles into moving images. Just watch the thing, you’ll see what I mean!

Anyway, LIGHTS, a comic and Sci-Fi fan, released four episodes of this little musical Sci-Fi adventure last year and in honour of the release of episode five, exclusively on MySpace we thought we’d show you the previous four chapters.

Enjoy!

Episode five can be seen right now here on MySpace!

What’s not to like about LIGHTS? Cute girl with Keytar, makes ElectroPop, into Sci-Fi, Comics and Gaming. It’s like she was made from science!

MMMatthias reMixes Yeasayer

New York rockers Yeasayer seem to get quite a few mentions in the electronic music press, not only did singer Chris Keating appear on Simian Mobile Disco’s ‘Audacity of Huge’ but they seem to be reMix fodder supreme!

German reMix factory MMMatthias completely warps their single ‘ONE’ into a cut-up Electro banger that must have taken days hunched over a sampler, twisting guitar riffs into Electro lead lines.

Ocelot & Calvertron

Ocelot03

More reMixes are coming in of Ocelot’s forthcoming single ‘Our Time’.

Calvertron’s take on the track is all bleeps and bass. Stripping out most the vocals and replacing them with a heavy bassline and chaotic synths completely juxtaposed by a beautifully 80’s breakdown!

‘Our Time’ drops soon on Wall Of Sound.

Afghan Raiders tackle Neon Indian

NeonIndian

Afghan Raiders stopped by the electronic rumors Inbox to drop off their latest reMix and this time its Psychedelic Indie-ElectroPoppers Neon Indian who get a ‘Raiders going over.

There’s almost a Dubstep vibe running through a lot of this track, Big warping Dub basslines and rimshot rhythms run through the first couple of minutes until the  Analog ElectroPop kicks in.

Rimer London

RimerLondon

Rimeroni Vumani A.K.A. Rimer London is one third of Dutch ElectroPoppers Le Le, and while Le Le go for the sleazy, dirty Electro side of things Rimmer London has one foot squarely in Italo Disco and the other  in Chiptune.

Creating Moroder-esq grooves with 8-Bit sounds and warm analog basses these two tracks from his début EP are infections as hell!

Love that picture of him imitating Giorgio Moroder’s famous studio shot too!

Rimer London’s ‘Intercity EP’ is released 25th January on Magnetron, until the give the man some MySpace love:

The Mystic Underground

TheMysticUnderground

Coming to the UK for the first time in 2010 are New York ElectroPoppers The Mystic Underground.

Available next week as a digital release is their new single ‘April Fools Day’, a slice of traditional SynthPop, well executed. I’ve not heard Orchestral Hits since the 90’s but The Mystic Underground are bringin’ ‘em back! Some pretty nice lyrics, with a sweet narrative sit atop this upbeat Modern SynthPop track.

Marina And The Diamonds; Hollywood reMixes

Marina03

Here at electronic rumors we love Marina And The Diamonds, we can’t help it, it’s just the way it is! If we ever need a break from the hardcore Electronics, Marina is our ‘go to’ gal.

So great news then that Marina’s forthcoming single ‘Hollywood’ (which we featured here) has some great reMix talent backing it up. UK boys Fenech-Soler serve up a storming French style Electro-House mix that really drives and makes fantastic use of the “Oh my god!” line! DFA’s resident Housemeisters The Juan MacLean bring the piano and string stabs for their Dirty House version.

Don’t Wait Animate

Something a little different again, this time in the shape of Don’t Wait Animate, a new, post-Nu-Rave, Indie-Electro act from East London.

Seemingly carving out a new genre all of their own they are kinda’ like Hadouken! with less shouting and more songs, and more influenced by Dubstep rather than The Prodigy. Rimshot Dub beats and noisy electronics provide a base for jagged guitars and socially aware vocals in their forthcoming single “6174” released in April on Barhouse Records.

The band have already jumped at the chance to reMix band-of-the-moment Delphic’s amazing ‘Doubt’, turning it into a heavy, heavy, Dubstep monster!

Don’t Wait Animate are running a reMix competition for their forthcoming release here.

Laurel Halo

LaurelHalo

Reigning things in after a couple of storming dancefloor tunes today, it’s time to chill with NYC singer/songwriter Laurel Halo. Dreamy layers of Electronics and downtempo beats are the order of the day with this track ‘A Single Breath’ which constantly surprises you from one minute to the next creating an evolving listening experience carried along by Laurel’s unique vocals.

Sitting a little more in our comfort zone 😉 is this reMix from Moodgadget producer Mogi Grumbles who gracefully shoehorns what is quite an eclectic tune into an Housey ElectroPop structure.
