Pat Lok’s new track

Pat Lok

On The Fruit Records have just dropped the latest track from Canadian Nu-Disco producer Pat Lok. the title track from Pat’s new single. Good times!

‘Remember’ is a dream of a track. Even though it has a really solid groove, the track seems to float on by, carried on clouds made of Funk. In general ‘Remember’ has got a bit of an LA vibe about it, both in the Funk and in the beach Disco departments, I imagine that this tune is going to go down a storm at quite a few parties in that part of the world, that’s not to say it won’t be rockin’ more than a few dancefloors elsewhere too. Keep hitting play ‘cos once the track gets 5,000 plays, On The Fruit are gonna’ release the download!

MiGHty mOUse reMixes Nyteowl

Nyteowl

Earlier this month Minneapolis based four peice Nyteowl released their ‘Love of Mine’ single on Juno’s new label, Love Interest. Amongst the top quality collection of reMix talent was MiGHty mOUse with this Moroder-esque Disco mix.

This is probably the most Italo leaning track MM has done to date, and it’s that more electronic sound that allowed it to slot so well into MM’s recent, amazing, Disco Circus 3 compilation. More synthetic, less sample based, Nu-Disco is becoming more and more popular and we see that as an superb thing and with track like this MiGHty mOUse is going to be leading the charge. This reMix is a wonderful mixture of energy and soul, it’s got the power of the most full-on dancefloor track but oozes the emotion and Funk of late ‘70’s electronic Disco experiments.

Madeon & Martin Solveig

MARTIN SOLVEIG

…and Boom! Just like that Nu-Disco wunderkind Madeon drops another track that makes the internet loose it’s shit. This time it a reMix of Martin Solveig’s forthcoming single ‘The Night Out’.

With a sound that is now unmistakably Madeon, the 17-year old turns Solveig’s track into a thing of pure power. it’s pretty instant to thing that at his young age he is already one of most popular electronic artists in the world, but with Pop-Disco juggernauts like this you can see why. it’;s got everything, The kick of Electro, the groove of Nu-Disco, the lush synths of French Touch and the soaring solos of SynthWave. How long can he keep this up?

She’s The Queen reMixes Stars

Stars

She’s The Queen are pretty much family now, so everything the release had better be amazing or it’s gonna’ get pretty awkward around here pretty quickly. Luckily that’s not a bridge we’ve had to cross yet as showcased by their latest track, a reMix of Montreal based Indie-Electro outfit Stars’ ‘We Don’t Want Your Body’, which is (thankfully) amazing.

She’s The Queen’s Drew shows off his production chops one again with this mix, taking the raucous original and reeling it in to a slick summery ElectroPop class act. The layers of synth here are all perfectly balanced, the punch bass and sparking leads all sitting comfortable with each other and the vocals, which take on a whole new inflection in this setting. Check it out.

Perturbator

Perturbator

If you been paying attention to SynthWave recently you’ll have noticed that there is more and more music being made that feels a lot like old School EBM. French producer Perturbator takes that retro harshness and mixes it up with a healthy dose of Jarre on his new EP ‘Night Driving Avenger’.

The title track growls like and angry robotic beast as those machine arpeggiated basslines hammer along at breakneck speed while Perturbator shows off his true skill, melody and solos. On every track on the EP his ability to craft emotional musical beats that really get across the mood of the tune or just impress the hell out of you with his skills. As a big fan of Jarre and Vangelis is awesome to hear this kind of epic synth work set against a pounding beat. ‘Grim Heart’ carries on in this tradition, the EBM aggression playing against the shining synth work. It’s not all high-octane powerhouses though, ‘Electric Dreams’ is a beautiful, haunting peice that would easily be suited to the quieter moments in BladeRunner, take that Vangelis! The EP contains one more track, ‘Miami Sunsets’, but I’ll make you head on over to Perturbator Sound Cloud to hear it so you can check out his vast back catalogue of synth epics.

Alex Metric’s ‘Ammunition’ EP

Alex Metric

We’ve kinda’ not been paying too much attention to Alex Metric’s forthcoming new EP, mainly because we weren’t that impressed with the EP’s lead track ‘Rave Weapon’, which isn’t really bad, just a bit predictable and disappointing.

Thankfully the other two tracks on the EP more than make up for that, in a seriously awesome kinda’ way. ‘Anybody Else’ is the standout, a huge robotic Disco track with a positively stratospheric lead line and a couple of piercing synth solos that are heavy both the mod wheel and the euphoria. A fat funky bass and some synthesizer shredding, what more can you ask for? ‘Epichords’ is a full on peak-time builder, this one;s going to be rockin’ festival season this year, you can tell, it’s a track to get lost in. ‘Rave Weapon’ aside Mr. Metric has is about it drop a bomb of an EP.

Quixotic

Quixotic

Quixotic is a Hungarian producer who’s been kicking around various music scenes for a few years now but has recently turned his hand towards the worlds of Nu-Disco, SynthWave and Italo. And we’re glad he did.

There’s a few tracks over on his SoundCloud page worth your attention, but here are a few that capture his style. That style being big, thick, retro Italo basslines awash with rich Nu-Disco grooves. ‘Étoiles’ is the big stand out for me, it’s a massive slice of Italo flavoured Cosmic Disco which is driven by a pounding bassline and razor sharp keys and perfectly shows what Quixotic has to offer. Twisting arpeggios play of melodic leads to evolve into new line, giving the tack the feel of an epic journey. ‘Apology’ is his latest tune, a slow jam with a muted disco lick and heartfelt vocoded vocals. ‘Streetlife’ borrows heavily from The Crusaders’ track of the same name but injects it with even more Funk and a healthy dose of modern, deep synth bassed, Nu-Disco. This tune features one of the best lead solos I have heard this year, Herbie Hancock style.
