[Download] Ali Jamieson’s ‘Push The Night’

ali-jamieson

One of our favourite tracks from London groovemeister and Heavy Disco label boss Ali Jamieson, Push The Night, finally saw release this week, and it’s free too. It’s featured as part of  NVMLS’ NVWLS/I compilation EP, four tracks of heavy Disco sounds with Jamieson bringing heavy doses of B-Boy Funk to the table.

Blending his trademark Jazzy Disco with a strong Bronx beat, Jamieson goes full-on Electro Boogie. Sporting a thick Italo-esque bassline complimented by wicked little Disco licks, Push The Night serves up an original head-spinner that keeps moving with mantra vocoder. This is proper vintage urban groove. Stay tuned for a special Ali Jamieson announcement in the coming months.

[Download] DeadstocK DisKo reMix Stevie Wonder’s ‘All I Do’

Stevie Wonder

Out next month via the awesome Nude Disco imprint is the new release from London’s DeadstocK DisKo. It’s called Do It and as a primer the Disco duo have unleaded this glorious reMix of Stevie Wonder’s All I Do and perfectly sets up the funky Sci-Fi sounds to come from these guys.

A nice mix of vintage and futuristic; DeadstocK DisKo work some slick retro synths, cosmic pads and a Moog-y lead, with a solid Funky House groove. Stevie’s instantly recognisable vocal drifts through the track, given room where needed, providing a little pizazz for the infectiously pumping Synth Disco. If this is the kind of tracks these two are going to be dropping in a few weeks time, prepare to be very excited.

[Download] Reflex’s ‘Sunset’

Reflex

Sunset is the new single from one of our favourite French SynthPop duos Reflex. Out this week on Tigers On A Leash, Sunset is the first new single we’ve had from these two since June last year’s Together, but Lud and André haven;t been just sitting around, aside from touring the globe it seems like these guys have been hard at work putting together a stunning new release.

Getting ready for the summer, Reflex bring the good-time vibes with them as they deliver a densely layers, buoyant ElectroPop tune, loaded with thick synths and a compelling Disco beat. Ludmila’s vocals shimmy over the tune like silk. Whether poolside or at the beach, this tune really does encapsulate Seadisco. Not that we’re sure what Seadisco is, but it definitely sounds like this. For a Housier take on the track check out the Club Mix, injecting some 909 drums and growling synth bass into the airy mix to bring the tune to harder dancefloors. The whole EP, out this week, is pretty stunning. We’re really hoping Reflex have an album in the works, we think they’d work really well as an album artist.

[Download] DiscoSocks’ ‘Had A Thing Together’

discosocks

Here’s the new one from the man DiscoSocks. This is the second track from the London based producer this year and so far he’s nailing it. Mixing up a little House into his Nu-Disco sound he’s consistently unleashing dancefloor gold. His latest offering, Had a Thing Together, brings together a House beat with a nice French Touch groove. Check it out.

If you like your House filtered and sample-y, you’ve come to the right place. DiscoSocks works a funky vocal hook around some sweeping synths and his trademark bass playing in a track that harkens back to the heyday of French Touch whilst sounding ultimately fresh. Reminisce about those sweet summers and get your head nod on with DiscoSocks.

[Download] The Penelopes’ ‘Time To Shine’

The Penelopes

Massive. That’s the best word to describe the new single from London based French ElectroPop duo The Penelopes. Time To Shine has been released as a free download and is their first original release since their 2012 album Never Live Another Yesterday. In many ways it marks a district departure from the summery (and quite ‘of the time’) Indie-ElectroPop of their previous work as they morph into something more mature and rich.

The contrast here of the growling and moody sonic pallet and the euphoric, upbeat nature of the track is what really lets this track shine. Like The Sisters Of Mercy gone shiny ElectroPop, Time To Shine is brooding 80s power Rock preformed on shimmering synthesizers, with all the requisite pomp and circumstance. Chugging bass, gritty synths and Axel’s croon backed up with some huge, Morrison-esque female vox and squealing leads, this is stadium SynthPop at it’s finest.

[Download] Ali Jamieson’s ‘Bitrman’ reMixed by Plainview

ali-jamieson

It was back in September last year that Ali Jamieson released his Bitrman EP, a raw and live sounding Disco jam that was surprisingly rockin’. So up steps fellow Londoner Plainview to bring the track to order with an unusually Kraftwerkian twist on Italo Disco. Check it out.

The effervescent keys of the most mirrorballed Disco tune are present and correct here, but the flow alongside some chilly pads, a stuttering machine beat and a growling riff that reminds us a little of The Golden Filter’s Solid Gold. A completely new twist on the track, Plainview’s remix delivers dancefloor order to Jamieson’s groovy chaos.

[Download] Clancy’s ‘Take it Slow’

Clancy

The boy’s doing good. London based producer Clancy had a pretty massive 2013, a couple of slammin;’ EPs, a heap of well-received reMixes (including something rather tasty indeed), and getting all up in Kitsuné business. Obviously feeling pretty chuffed about all this, Clancy has dropped a free tune as a thank you for all the support he’s received over the past year. Sink into Take It Slow.

Riding a deep warping bassline, Take It Slow delivers thick, mood setting, House vibes. Enigmatic and intoxicating, this musical mystery allows it’s subby bass to provide a rock solid platform for airy keys to serve up something a little more kinetic. Take It Slow isn’t actually that slow, but it is brooding and magical and one to loose yourself in at the end of the night.

[Download] Pat Lok reMixes Robert Lux & Todd Edwards’ ‘I’ve Still Got Sunshine’

Todd Edwards

Out this week is the new single from New York/LA duo Robert Lux & House music legend Todd Edwards, I’ve Still Got Sunshine. A cheery House tune with a secret weapon. There’s a reMix from Torontonian master Pat Lok up in this bitch! Possibly his deepest tune to date, Lok delivers they hypnotic dance and warehouse moods with this monster tune.

Pat Lok effortlessly blends a little Chicago, a little Deep and a little Funky into one undulating, bass heavy, floorfiller. Riding on a growling sub, the track gleefully plays with vocal snatches, ecclectic snyths and unexpected twists and turns. All locked together with a watertight groove. One of the best House tunes of the year so far.

[Download] Luke Million reMixes Midnight Pool Party’s ‘Linger’

Midnight Pool Party

We do love a Luke Million reMix. The Australian Italo-Disco producer always goes to the synth next-level. Out this week is his reMix from fellow Aussies Midnight Pool Party and their new single Linger. We found the original of the track a little tame, in a by-the-numbers way, but no fear, Mr. Million is here it inject the tune with his particular brand of synthesizer love.

Leading in and out with the originals Disco lick, Luke Million eschews the original’s Indie-Pop vibe for a deeply funky Italo style. Heaping vocoded versions of the vocals with undulating and soaring synth leads gives the track a much needed epic quality. We could listen to those magical keys all day and Luke Million shreds his way though SynthWave solos set to his carefree Disco beats.
