[Download] Patrick Baker’s ‘Lies’

patrick-baker

While we generally dig Patrick Baker’s featuring appearances on everything that was ever released between 2012 and 2014, it’s always a lot more exciting to hear one of his own tunes. This is Patrick Baker as he was meant to be heard, his own vision. Patrick Baker: the director’s cut. The man has slowly but surely been making the transition from 80’s SynthWave Popster to smooth 90s soulful crooner and this new tune, Lies, is the epitome of that sound.

Smooth and slinky, Lies, mixes up a growling 90s R&B groove with a hint of Swingbeat and a little dusting of Disco. A slo-mo opus to drift across city rooftops at the peak hour of the night. A hot summer vibe, made up of chiming keys, warm tones and a solid dance beat, compliments Patrick’s soulful voice. This is one for putting your feet up, forgetting the world and letting the silky sounds envelops you. Super chilled stuff.

[Download] Fare Soldi reMix Madonna’s ‘Holiday’

OUT028035

Seems like the recipie for the perfect sunshine tune. Take, what is arguable Madonna’s most chipper tune, Holiday, and give it to Italian Fico Disco pioneers Fare Soldi. right now we can’t think of a more perfect match to produce something that will, without fail, put a smile on your face.

Of course they kept the little synth Funk riff, why wouldn’t you? But Fare Soldi have teamed that up with a big bouncy bassline and a sweetly shuffling beat. Upbeat arpeggios and starlight keys spread out over a pair of duelling basslines (one bass, one synth) to serve up something think and funky and genuinely upbeat. Add a bit of Madge over to top and you’ve got something instantly recognisable to your ears and irresistible to your feet.

[Download] Holmes Price reMixes Color//Sound’s ‘To The Countryside’

Color-Sound

Here’s the latest tune from London based via Bath House producer Holmes Price. It’s a reMix for Irish Indie outfit Color//Sound’s track To The Countryside, and it sees Price continue his gradual journey from a strict House sound to something a little more nostalgically 80s. The mad has contributed a reMix for a forthcoming release on electronic rumors from [redacted] and believe us, that track is pure 80s bliss. Check out his reMix of To The Countryside.

Price turns in a rousing track full of instrumental rises as he swaps Color//Sound’s guitars for waves of lush vintage synths. Not forgetting to lavish the tune with a healthy amount of cowbell, Price layers a driving Italo bassline with gradually building chords until fever pitch when he drops the track into an electro-tom popping breakdown. The song itself seems a bit naff if we’re honest, we deliberately didn’t listen to the original, but Price’s reconstruction is such a thing of cheeky retro brilliance that you can’t help but get into it.

[Download] Figure Of 8 reMixes Christobel’s ‘White Ring’

Christobel

Here’s a tasty new track from our Northern Irish homie Figure Of 8. We never know what we’re going to get with a Figure Of 8 reMix, he’s got this knack of keeping a classic Dance music core while getting pretty experimental with his tunes, and this new one of no different. It’s a reMix of Australian signer Christobel’s White Right, and it’s pretty damn absorbing.

Taking Christolbel’s already haunting vocal, Figure Of 8 crafts a moody and enigmatic tune. Powered by a solid House beat and some deft Acid riffing, the vibe of the track allows Figure Of 8 to play around with some quite evocative sounds. From the brooding electric piano to the Industrial purcussion, it really feels like a musical narrative; there’s so much going on and with so much feeling. Atmospheric vocal House at it’s finest.

[Download] Final DJs’ ‘Teardrops’

Final DJs

Teardrops is the first new original tune from the newly solo Final DJs (yeah, we’re confused too, just try not to think about it) and it;’s really something you should pay attention too. Collaborating with British duo Frett, Final DJs have managed to serve up something quite original in a sea of sound-a-likes. Check it out.

There’s a lot of music around these days that takes it’s cues from 80s Sci-Fi soundtracks, and straight-to-video classics; but in a scene that is increasingly sounding nothing like it intends to as it fuels itself, Final DJs leans toward the Jarre end of the electronica spectrum whist delivering some authentic sounding soundtrack sounds. He brings the beat too, with a rumbling Disco groove running throughout. The vocal performance from Frett slips into the track with style, layering a passionate lament over the moody sounds. A track that bodes well for the future.

[Download] Avec Sans reMixes HAERTS’ ‘Hemiplegia’

haerts

Now this is a very interesting combination. Carefree New York ElectroPoppers HAERTS being reMixed by out favourite London based duo Avec Sans. Not only are both acts superb, but they are almost trans-Atlantic twins. Avec Sans are a little more cerebral that HAERTS, but they both occupy a similar space on the music spectrum. Although HAERTS are distinctly Brooklyn sounding and Avec Sans are incredible British in their SynthPop they are almost counterparts. And both amazing. So this is bound to be awesome.

Taking on the lead track of HAERTS recent EP, Hemiplegia, Avec Sans gruff things up a bit with a relentless dance beat and growling synth bass. Avec Sans take the bouncy 80s-esque chorus and run with it, stripping it of it’s Indie pretensions and allowing it to fulfil it’s nostalgic SynthPop destiny. The soundtrack to our weekend, Avec Sans have delivered another stunning slice of ElectroPop that further cements their position as one of the UK’s brightest rising stars.

[Download] Pat Lok reMixes Adina Howard’s ‘Freak Like Me’

Adina Howard

OK, hold tight, ‘cos this one is huge. The Torontonian dude Pat Lok is back and he’s got something to celebrate. The man has just hit a million, yes a million, plays on his SoundCloud account and is marking the occasion by giving away this frankly immense reMix of Adina Howard’s 1995 hit Freak Like Me. We sincerely hope your listening to this jam on a system with decent bass.

Spending it;s first few moments easily blending from a 90s R&B groove into a House monster the effortlessly juggles an early Chicago vibe with cutting edge Bass House power. And that’s not mentioning the shuffling Garage shit going on throughout. This is just a killer tune that needs to be played in clubs right now, like right this second. Turn the bass up, turn the volume up, hit play. You won’t regret it.

[Download] Toxo ‘Need Your Love’

Toxo

Italian label Body Heat have just put out a rather tasty three track EP for free. Positioned as a sampler for their upcoming artists the release features tracks from Rocoe & Umberto Lumber, Msystem, The Couch Potatoes, and this beat from Rome based DJ Toxo. It’s called Need Your Love

Set apart from the more sample based offerings found elsewhere on the EP, Toxo’s tune meshes a vintage Disco hook with some almighty chainsaw synths. Knocking out a heavy TurboFunk groove, Need Your Love blends droning synths, squelchy riffs with infectious filtered Disco in an organized chaotic way until you end up with one of those peak time track you can’t help but go mental too.

[Download] Fire Flowerz reMix Route94’s ‘My Love’

route-94

Italian Disco duo have done it again with this massive new reMix of Route94 and Jess Glynne’s smash My Love. Apparently the original was just too “chill” for their DJ sets so they souped it up and gave it one of their trademark high-octane makeovers, this time injecting a whole load of piano House into proceedings. Check it out.

Dripping with early 90s vibes, Fire Flowerz mix of My Love takes Glynne’s big diva vocal and runs with it. A heavy piano hook permeates the track, hammering out its’ infectious riff over broken waves of bass heavy House. Modulating vocal snatches, as is requisite these days, Fire Flowerz deliver a full on floorfiller which we’re sure went down a storm in their sets.
