[Download] JBAG reMixes Jolie Jolie Chérie’s ‘Où Tu Veux’

jolie-chrie

Parisian DiscoPop trio Jolie Chérie have release a free reMix package for their Où Tu Veux single. Released in January, the rousing SynthPop ballad features extra vocals from Valli and has now got a fresh set of versions from the likes of James Curd, Solar Systems, Quater Chic, Scuola Furano and this soaring slice of Island ElectroPop euphoria from London’s finest DiscoPop duo, JBAG. Jolie Chérie reMixed JBAG’s X-Ray Sex single of 2010, it’s well overdue that the favour is returned.

JBAG eschews and mood of the original in favour of a carefree dancefloor vibe. Despite being quite mid-tempo, JBAG keep the energy up and the mood hectic, inserting random riffs and sirens into the mix; giving the track an organised chaotic feel. At it’s core lies a laid back Tropical grove built around syncopated stabs and a clap-a-long beat that never relent over the tracks seven minute length. A departure indeed from the original, and a surefire summer jam.

Chromatics

Johnny Jewel has shared another new track from the forthcoming Chromatics album, Dear Tommy, the follow up to their 2012 near-classic Kill For Love.. Following last month’s unveiling of the albums initial single, Just Like You, Jewel and the gang have lifted the lid on the second taste of what’s to come from Chromatics. This one is called I Can Never Be Myself When You’re Around.

In contrast to Just Like You’s subtly downtempo vibes, I Can’ Never Be Myself When You’re Around is more energetic vintage Disco. A magical soundscape of lush synths and undulating rhythms, I Can Never Be Myself When You’re Around provides an electrically charged platform for Ruth Radelet’s vocals (and backing vocals from Megan Louise From Desire) at their dreamy finest.

[Download] Ben Macklin & Le Flex’s ‘Escape’

ben-macklin

After having him reMix his tune Dare, London Tropical groover Ben Macklin has teamed up with Le Flex to produce a brand new original track. Released this week in Macklin’s SoundCloud page, Escape is available as a free download, which is generous of him. Check out the smooth sounds of Escape below.

This is exactly the kind of poolside House jam we love Mr. Macklin for, with an added upbeat injection from Le Flex. Smooth as hell, Escape is dripping with a chilled summertime vibe built on an infectious bass hook and stabbing synths. The percussive keys give it that Topical flavour, but doesn’t overpower it’s laid back House credentials. We’re putting this in the pile marked ‘summer soundtrack’; we can’t wait for better weather to blast this one.

[Download] DNKL’s ‘Warm Dark Night’ reMixed by VUURWERK

dnkl

Warm Dark Night originally appeared on Swedish enigmatic SynthPop outfit DNLK’s recent Wolfhour EP and to commemorate their début UK live appearance (this Thursday at the Lexington in London) they are giving way this reMix of the track from Belgian electronic trio VUURWERK. Both acts lean toward the moodier side of the musical spectrum and this reMix sums that vibe up perfectly.

VUURWEK play around with gloomy tones booming bass to soundtrack the original’s vocals. Set to a shuffling, suffering beat, which has a swing not often found in this kind of music, the reMix adds some passionate female vocals to the mix and it heaps on ever more layers of noisy synth work. Gloomy and funky? A combination that works.

[Download] Sébastien Tellier’s ‘Kilometre’ reMixed by Nude Disco

Sébastien Tellier

London’s Nude Disco is back with another of his storming reMixes. This one’s truly on point with Vern’s take on Sébastien Tellier’s classic Kilometre. This is one track you all will know, taken from the Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo produced album Sexuality it was a 2008/09 staple. Check out Nude Disco bringing up to 2015 speed and ready for a new dancefloor.

Nude Disc keeps things steady with this rock solid reMix. Kicking off with a bubbling arpeggio and a cracking electro snare, Vern soon introduces the original’s rich synths and a squelchy lead into the mix as the tune dips and bobs through the track. After a warm breakdown, Nude Disco brings it back hard with an irresistible and energetic synthetic finale.

Solheiro

New Mexican poolside Disco juggernaut Solheiro is one half of the Le Touch boys who has struck out on his production lonesome to deliver some truly chilled  and groove sounds. Ricardo Bussey Solheiro has been dropping some fantastic reMixes in the past twelve months; but you know our rule for being featured, originals first, reMixes later. So here he is with his début single. This is Last Minute Winner.

Blissful, summertime Disco sounds is what you’ll find here; although Solheiro manages not to sound exactly like everyone else as he carves out an emotional, intricate corner of the genre for himself. Layers of meticulous synths, Dubby effects and hazy vocals add to the bouncy, yet laid back, groove to serve up a top track that we are definitely saving to the warmer months.

[Download] MiGHty mOUse’s ‘Wunder’

mighty-mouse

True to his word, Disco don MiGHty mOUse has released another of his personal crate weapons to you lucky people. The man is at the top of his game, the game of being a Disco DJ, so when he creates a tune specifically designed to rock his dancefloors you know it;s going to do the job right. No fluff, no padding, this one is a dancefloor aimed musical cruse missile. The kind of monster tune you’ll find him dropping on any of his forthcoming gigs.

Wunder is one of those track, when you’re on the dancefloor, that you just sink into. You let it take control and you just loose yourself in. That chord progression, played on rumbling bass synth, is like a wave of vibes that carries you away. The tune is seasoned with an hypnotic, almost Dubby, piano hook and an array of Sci-Fi sounds flowing over jaunty purcussion. MiGHty mOUse isn’t mucking around here; pure dancefloor exuberance.

Johnny Jewel’s amazing Chromatics have announced the release of their forthcoming new album. Titled Dear Tommy, the follow up to 2012’s dreamy Kill For Love, is due out in a month and is eagerly anticipated by just about everyone we know. Johnny has taken to SoundCloud to announce the release and give away the albums first single, Just Like You as a free download. Check it out.

Just Like You is just the first in a string of new singles. Jewel will be releasing one a week until the albums March release and he has certainly chosen a belter to kick things off with. A swirling electronic symphony blessed with sweet vocals and lush (like, really lush) synths over a smooth steady beat. It’s an intoxicating SynthPop dream with a dark undertone. We’re very much looking forward to the album.

[Download] AIMES’ ‘Harmonique Cosmique’

aimes1_thumb

Harmonique Cosmique is the latest single from one of our faves, Brooklyn’s Discomeister AIMES. Goin’ all musical high-brow, the man had dropped a concept single where he delivers four version of the same track, all targeted toward different dancefloors. There’s the AM Version, the Beach Version, the Late Night Version and the Disco Version; which you can check out below.

The Disco Version of Harmonique Cosmique plays to AIMES strength. It’s a synthetic Robo-Disco masterpiece, loaded with vintage futurism and late 70s/early 80s Sci-Fi Disco tropes all wrapped up in some sick synthesizer funk. The machine bass commands you to dance while all manner of popping and zapping electro plays out over a  tapestry of attention seeking lead lines. Upbeat and energetic, this is AIMES’ comfort zone and he nails it.

[Download] Röyksopp’s ‘Poor Leno’ reMixed by Laberge

Röyksopp

Röyksopp’s, Erlend Øye voiced, Poor Leno is one of our favourite track of all tie. In fact, Melody A.M. is one of our favourite albums of all time, so it is a brave producer (in our eyes) who tackles such an iconic song. Canadian producer Laberge dived in head first with his reMix, not only playing with perfection, but also doing in completely hardware style, even the sequencing. Y’know what? He pulls it off.

Laberge serves up a storming slice of House with all the trimmings. Whipping up the  tune from a summery, slightly melancholic, introspective wig-out into a bouncy, funky, House jam Laberge build his reMix from layers of loops; keeping the beats tight and energetic and the bass low and rumbling. Morphing snatches of the originals vocals and spinning them in and out of the track he creates something with the soul of the original, but who’s body lives in clubland.
