Up-and-coming UK singer Veiga Sanchez, A.K.A. Salt Ashes, has just released her début single, Somebody. The Brighton based Italo-Popstress new tune also comes complete with this blissful reworking from one of our favourite German outfits, Satin Jackets. Prepare for some hazy summertime sounds.

With pure carefree vibes, Satin Jackets transform the original into a nostalgic, laid back, poolside churner. Airy melodies and a breezy piano hook give the Pop side of the track an organic, fluid edge; kept in place with a water-tight Disco beat. This is definitely a nice slice of port-Dreamwave Nu-Disco, and one for lazy summer afternoons.

[Audio] Chrome Sparks’ ‘Goddess’

Out soon via Future Classic is the new EP from Brooklyn’s Chrome Sparks, Goddess. Chrome Sparks music is always an interesting proposition. Cosmic analog synthesizer goodness, much like the other Brooklyn based Chrome, washed over the title track of the release. Check it out below.

Goddess truly is a galactic SynthWave journey, stopping off at Italo, Disco and cinematic Space Synth. Beautiful, undulating synth sounds and sweeping pads glide through a star-field of distant arpeggios and gentle drums. Like a soundtrack the tune rises and falls with it’s narrative, carrying with it a sense of drama as Goddess speeds toward it’s distorted synth crescendo. Amazing, emotional, stuff from Chrome Sparks, we can;t wait for the whole EP.

[Audio] Moderns’ ‘Sub Urban’

Moderns is the new project from out very own Let Em Riot. Alan isn’t alone in this venture, some Dude called Chris is along for the ride too; and between the two of them they are making some sweet, evocative SynthPop. The journey begins with Sub Urban, and a staggeringly impressive début it is too.

Sub Urban is a big cinematic slice of ElectroPop, but not one that eschews emotion for pomposity, this track has soul in truckloads. There’s an obvious comparison to Let Em Riot, with an added cleanness and sparkle.With a punchy bassline to power the track along, Sub Urban is loaded with starlight snyths and playful purcussion, tempered only by the occasional electronic growl. Alan’s vocals and as passionate and emotive as ever and nicely tie the tune together. We’re very excited to see where this is going.

Working Miracles is one of two B-sides to Hercules And Love Affair’s new single Do You Feel The Same?, released ahead of Andy Butler and crew’s forthcoming The Feast Of The Broken Heart album. The A-side is a spacious funky Acid Disco monster, so H&LA deliver something deeper for the flipside.

After a shaky piano and sample intro, Working Miracles drop and thumping, almost Psy Trance, beat. Undulating and hypnotic, the groove builds and builds into an ecclectic and bassy House juggernaut. Taking cues from their Industrial roots and their Warehouse DNA, Working Miracles moves in both dancefloor and avant-garde circles.

[Audio] Grum’s ‘Human Touch’ album

It’s been three years since the release of Leeds based Scot Grum’s début album, Heartbeats, about five years since he first came to our attention with a slew of amazing Dreamwave and Nu-Disco tracks and reMixes. In those years Grum has been quietly doing something that very few of his contemporaries from around that time have seemed to be able to do. Evolve. It wasn’t long after the release of Heartbeats that Grum started releasing Euphoric Trance tracks, then Bleep House, then Progressive tunes all the while the lazy online press was still calling him ‘Disco’. Grum forthcoming sophomore album, Human Touch, should come as a revelation to them, a slap in the face realisation that they have missed these past three years, that Grum is so much more than a Disco producer, and that is why he’s risen to the top of the pack.

The album opener, and title track, Human Touch, sets this up perfectly. A moody and emotional House tune, loaded with enigmatic, low tones and haunting vocals. Not the first track floorfiller you might expect, but a track that grasps your interest and let you know there is something more intelligent going on here than simply crowd pleasing hooks. As if to compound the genre-spanning attitude of the collection, the following track, Sunrise, is an Acid-Balearic epic. A mesmerising hands-in-the-air tune that lives up to its name. There are tracks we’ve herd before on Human Touch. Previous singles the Simple Minds referencing The Theme and the nostalgic Warehouse vibe of Everytime are present and correct. Grum delves even more into the world of late 80s/early 90s House experimentalism on tracks like Autumn, with a pure early House riff you will swear you’ve heard somewhere before it’s so authentic, and the Haçienda-meets-SynthPop classic Dance sound of Tears. As the album progresses it become more and more melodic, with Three Thousand East being a play of retro leads against touch beats and Lotta’ Love feeling the influence of Melodic Trance energy before that album brings things down to ease the listener out on the deep, synthetic, Serotonin and the Chillwave R&B of the album’s closer Eyes Shut. For fans wanting a little classic Grum Dreamwave, Raindrop totally delivers vintage keys and a big vocal hook and Feel It Everywhere’s vocoded nostalgia could easily be an early Grum single. The Nu-Disco side of things, too, is covered by the likes of In Love, with it’s Acid flavour funk. Human Touch has got enough of that rousing classic Grum feel, enough interesting experiments with genre, and enough of a timeless Dance Music DNA to keep most fans of electronic music coming back for more. Definitely recommended.

[Audio] Isaac Tichauer’s ‘Changes’

Next up on the awesome French Express is the smoothest of smooth House jams. It’s also the new one from Australian DJ and producer Isaac Tichauer. Changes is really a track to sink into and a tune that is guaranteed to be soundtracking more than a few sunsets this coming summer.

Deep and Soulful, with a surprisingly pleasing Jazz twist, Changes is a slo-mo slice of bass snyth heavy House. Finger snaps and an understates House beat give the tune it’s momentum, but it’s the rumbling sub and the lilting electric piano that give it it’s soul. Add a light R&B vocal, and you’ve got eight minutes of emotional, laid back, audio gold. Intricate and resonant sounds from this producer to watch.

Big beats and moody warbles up now with the new single from UK SynthPop heroes Strangers. Still riding high on the success of their Close EP and a whole heap of acclaimed track last year, the guys unleash their new tune, Wolf At The Door, already set to do bit things when it is released this summer.

Wolf At The Door injects a little groove into Strangers optimistic melancholy (yes, that’s a thing). A swirl of heady synths set to a huge beat with a head nodding swing, this new single grabs you by the ears and doesn’t let go until it’s done. If you want a way to start you week big, then look no further than the latest reMix from the man like Grum. Taking on Drum ‘N’ Bass superstars Sigma’s latest single, Nobody To Love, Grum engages the duo in a competition to see who can make the most massive sounds, and who can drive the energy levels though the roof. Game on!

With his new album’s release finally on the horizon, Grum gets the anticipation going with this onslaught of huge synths and irresistible beats. [Audio] Blende’s ‘Paramount’

London based Swede Blende is at it again. Having pinched the top spot of our favourite tracks of 2013 with his storming single Rikki, Johan is releasing a brand new EP later this month vie Eskimo Recordings. Titled Paramount, the EP boasts three new original tracks, each packed with uplifting and funky vibes. Have a listen to a couple of them below.

The EP’s title track nicely blends (pun intended) a Disco funk with some slick SynthWave. With, what feels like, a decidedly British Pop slant, this five minutes of synthesiser bliss rolls with a mid-80s flavour pushing synth solos and popping electro toms to the forefront and then couples that with a late 70s piano Disco groove. It’s heady combination that is sure to be stuck on repeat. Elsewhere on the EP you’ll find Plush, which sees Blende going even further into cinematic 80s synth territory. Heavy synth bass and plucky synthesized guitars conjure the best in 80s straight-to-video Sci-Fi to mind. Sweeping keys pick up the track’s mood while sparkling melodies dance around the dystopian soundtrack. Heavy, but optimistic stuff. Another killer release from Blende.

[Audio] Jensen Sportag’s ‘One Lane Lovers’

There’s a new single from Nashville not-really-Chillwave-anymore-but-there’s-no-smoke-without-fire funketeers Jensen Sportag. Which is pretty soon after their début album, Stealth Of Days, which dropped late last year. Stealth Of Days was easily one of the albums of 2013. The new single, released on Cascine of course, is titles One Lane Lovers, and sees the Sportags delve even deeper into the Funk.

Kicking off like a mid-80s post-B-boy slice of electronic Soul Pop, One Lane Lovers soon settles into the smoothest of grooves. So smooth in fact; coupled with the waves of nostalgia the permeate every second of the awesome One Lane Lovers, that you might just sink into your chair permanently. Although, being stuck there listening to One Lane Lovers on repeat wouldn’t be such a bad thing. How these guys make choppy, cut-up, R&B sounds sound so silky is beyond us. Probably just Sportag magic.
