[MP3] Tippy Toes reMixes Little Daylight

Little Daylight

Here we have Tippy Toes reMixing Little Daylight. Which, despite sounding like an explosion in a My Little Pony factory, is actually a deeply groove slice of New York Disco. Tippy Toes are an up and coming duo who met at DFA’s studio when one was a sound engineer and the other way laying keyboard tracks for LCD Soundsystem, having been jamming for a while, they getting ready to unleash their sounds on the world.

They’ve released a reMix of fellow New York Indie-Electro outfit Little Daylight’s Overdose. Stripping most of the vocals from the abrasive and haunting original, Tippy Toes layers snatches of half-heard voices over a think synth bass and shuffling drums.and some Dubby Disco sounds. Even including a little Acid flair in the track, Tippy Toes have delivered a well rounded slice of spacey House with that gritty New York Disco groove that only comes from one place.

[MP3] Chromatics reMixed by Visione

Chromatics

Chromatics’ classic and Drive & Taken 2 featuring epic Tick Of The Clock has been given this sweeping sharp update by Chicago producer and Chromatics’ own Visione. Tick Of The Clock is so recognisable now, you’d recognize it even if you didn’t know it from it’s gritty Italo arpeggios and spend all day wondering where you knew it from. It’s weird hearing a new version, but Visione does the business right here.

The new reworking keeps the originals haunting, hypnotic groove but injects the track with a little omph and some serious Cosmic snyths. Over a gruelling machine beat, the originals trance inducing riff plays out, with added help from a truck load of atmospheric synthetic squealing keys before launching into a soaring finale. The perfect end to the week.

[MP3] The Good Natured’s ‘Lovers’

The Good Natured

The ever awesome The Good Natured has just shared a track from her forthoming, and pretty long awaited, début album, which will be titled Prism. The new reveal, a track called Lovers, is one of the most pitch-perfect three minutes of 80s Pop we’ve heard in a long long time.

Absolutely, unashamedly 80s, Lovers. From the opening New Wave bass notes you transported to memories of dry-ice fuelled Top Of The Pops appearances and teen movie montages, and by the time the big chorus hits you’re all the way there. Aside from the rolling bassline that give the track it’s personality, you’ll be treated to metallic, reverby, retro synths, warm pads and Sarah’s vocals sounding as passionate as ever. Did we mention how authentically, effortlessly, 80s this sounded? It’s almost eerie. Can’t wait for the album.

[MP3] Maethelvin’s ‘As We Were’

Maethelvin

One of the original pioneers of the Dreamwave and SynthWave sound, French producer Maethelvin has suddenly jumped back onto our radar with a brand new track. The old school Valerie member has returned out of nowhere with As We Were, a track that takes us back to the heydays of the Valerie/Dreamwave scene.

Lush space age synths wash this track. As We Were is a glorious slick of electronic nostalgia. With a subtly funky bassline to underpin proceedings, As We Were treats you to classy chords and pin sharp leads conjuring moods of days gone by. Not just reminiscent of 2007’s SynthWave explosion, but laid back 80s movie soundtrack work and Sci-fi Disco. We’re hoping this is the start of s resurgence of activity from Maethelvin, we’d love to hear of an album on the horizon.

Passion Pit Cry Like A Ghost Official Video YouTube

Cry Like A Ghost is the next single to be taken from Passion Pit’s second album, Gossamer. It;s a good choice for single material too, optimistic and melancholy at the same time, and anthemic too, ElectroPop in that way only Passion Pit can do.

Check out the video, directed by Daniels, which we’re not sure if it’s supposed to be depressing or empowering, but it;s a rollercoaster of life.

[Audio] Alpha Rhythm

Alpha Rhythm

We know absolutely nothing about newcomer Alpha Rhythm. he hit us up on SoundCloud, from which we can discern his real name is Jimmy Hansson and he’s from Sweden. So there you go, that’s all the information we’ve got, but really do you need more? just check out the music and you’ll soon be taken in by this guys synthetic, space-age Technoid Disco.

The six minute epic that is Moon Chaser is his most recent tune.A Kraftwerkian oddessy with a storming disco grove. Decked out in electronic blips and deep warping bassline, Moon Chaser straddles a weird line between Cosmic Disco, House, Techno and Electro but usually manages to take the best from all of them and wraps them up in a dreamy SynthWave vibe. there’s a touch of the Balearic to the track too, a definite sunrise feel beneath the machine beats. Laika is more SynthWave leaning, with a strong emotional core played out  with a troupe of rich synth tones and intertwining melodies. Don;t be fooled by it’s heartfelt content though, there’s still a grinding bassline underneath it all. The other track on alpha Rhythm’s SoundCloud is Chrome Sunset, an arpeggio fuelled car chase in music form, or maybe that should be starship chase? The tracks driving rhythm section is complimented by some seriously galactic keys and is one again, reminiscent of the Robots reMixed. For three début tracks, Alpha Rhythm has really delivered the goods, if you like you electronic music with a touch of an Italo grove and a Sci-Fi mood, then you should check this out.

[Audio] More from Miles Prower

miles-prower_thumb

Bristol based SynthWavers Miles Prower have unleashed two more tracks from their forthcoming Pneumatic EP, which makes five now, which is high time the EP was released if you ask us. These guys continue to make their decidedly British mark on the SynthWave scene with Italo influenced grooves and bright Saturday morning melodies.

This World Wont Let Me Down is a rich, emotionally resonant tune in a classic Dreamwave mould. With a tiny bit of a Tropical vibe this time around, Miles Prower deliver punchy basslines to carry the weight while layers of starlight melodies play out over the top.Starlight Burning up’s the tempo somewhat, maybe a little too much. When not descending a suspicious amount into Happy Hardcore territory, it’s actually a pretty uplifting, euphoric track with some epic vocals from Alice Maria Sparey, we’re just a bit concerned that putting a donk on anything is never a good idea. It’s a nice enough tune though, and sees Miles Prower set to turn-in a top EP.
