Saint Etienne at X-Mas, ‘A Glimpse Of Stocking’

I have been saving this post for X-Mas eve!

Recently SynthPop legends Saint Etienne released a full-on X-Mas album, ‘A Glimpse Of Stocking’ containing 15 tracks of ElectroPop and Indie-Electro with varying degrees of X-Mas cheer and X-Mas depression. The album is already becoming a rarity, which is a pity as it should be everyone’s compulsory X-Mas day listening, Sarah’s vocals lend themselves perfectly to seasonal songs.

So, this X-Mas eve, check out these two tracks from the album. ‘Through The Winter’, a mid-tempo synth ditty reminiscent of mid-90’s Etienne and the deep dance groove of ‘No Cure For The Common Christmas’ and make sure you have a good one!

DāM-FunK – ‘Tis The Season!

West-Coast electronic Funk overlord DāM-FunK has recorded an especially smooth little jam for the holiday season.

Recorded live, un-sequenced, in LA a few days ago, the track ‘’Tis The Season’ blends X-Mas spirit, 80’s electronic Pop R&B and DāM-FunK Electro groove and should definably be on your X-Mas party playlist.

Ladytron reMixes SONOIO

In yet another smart promotional move Alessandro Cortini A.K.A. SONOIO is giving away another album, this time chock full of reMixes.

The album, titled ‘Non’, is rocking some quite high profile names for a freebie including this reMix of ‘Houdini’ by Ladytron. Ladytron take SONOIO’s deep, analog, ElectroPop and turn it up to 11, piling on the vintage synths in a hypnotic and dreamlike way.

You can download (or order on CD for $5) ‘Non’ at SONOIO’s official website.

New Metronomy material

This week Zane Lowe dropped the first material from Metronomy’s forthcoming new album on his show.

The track, ‘She Waits’, comes from Metronomy’s sophomore LP proper, ‘The English Riviera’ which is expected to drop in April. The track is more laidback Indie than previous offerings and whilst I’m not totally sold on every lement of it there is enough good stuff in there to make the album promising.

We’ll have to wait and see.

Way Out West Vs. FM Attack

Canadian king of all things 80’s-esq House FM Attack recently reMixed the title track from Bristol’s electronica legends Way Out West’s latest album.

With no definite release in sight it’s possible the track is getting a single release (the album has already has a reMix package), and it deserves it, especially this mix. FM Attack brings his brand of pre-Dreamwave Nu-Disco with it’s lush synths and sparkling lead lines which effortlessly flow aver a hyped-up groove.

Creep reMixed by Soul Clap

Young Turks latest signing, Lauren Flax’s Creep are giving away the Soul Clap reMix of their début single ‘Days’.

This reMix doesn’t feature on the single, which features Romy from The XX on vocals, and brings a shilling beat and a bit of funk to the dark minimal original. I’m not going to call the original either Trip-Hop (‘cos it’s not) or Witch-House (‘cos that’s just a ridiculous term), it’s got more in common with Minimal Synth than anything else. Anyway, check the reMix for some dark 90’s electronic Funk.

The return of Tigersapien! (they’re ‘Not Dead’)

Wow, that was an unexpected email! It’s been nearly two years now since Philadelphia based ElectroPop Punksters Tigersapien set out little corner of the music blogosphere on fire with their raucous brand of Electro. They dropped an awesome EP, titled ‘EP’, then seemingly disappeared, so when I checked the electronic rumors Inbox and there was an email from Tigersapien, I took notice!

Well, it seems the Tigers have dragged themselves from their favourite strip joints to get together a new EP ready to drop this coming January and they’ve dropped off the first track, fittingly called ‘Not Dead’.

‘Not Dead’, is exactly the Tigersapien we remember. This track is bordering on EBM, in it’s arpeggios, but mashed up with a health dose of noisy Electro and a rock ‘n’ roll swagger and that live rawness that ran through their last EP. If you like your ElectroPop punky or your ElectroPunk poppy, then Tigersapien are for you.

Tigersapien’s new EP, ‘Clean Lines’, is coming 11th January 2011.

Human Life reMix Polygon Palace

A while back Melbourne based international Electro duo Polygon Palace stepped up for reMixing duties on Human Life’s single ‘In It Together’, now the Californian ElectroPop heroes are returning the favour.

Polygon Palace’s new single, ‘We Have a visual’ is “a hard-hitting tune on the topic of vampire-hunting robots and cross-dimensional hedonism (with synths)” which, frankly, is as awesome as it sounds. It’s an Electro Sci-Fi epic, and Human Life take it to the next level. Bringing their massive 80’s synth sounds to the table Human Life take the track to it’s funkiest conclusion, This is pure dancefloor ElectroPop genius. Y’all defiantly need to be keeping an eye on Human Life in 2011!

Oh, and check the big deep breakdown!

Polygon Palace – We Have A Visual (Human Life reMix)

Human Life are also contributing a reMix to the forthcoming single ‘Boadicea’ by Mason featuring Róisín Murphy! Can’t wait!

‘We Have Visual’ is released 30th December on Forum5

Jungle Fiction’s début EP

Icelandic Nu-Disco trio Jungle Fiction make the kind of rad summery sounds you wouldn’t normally associate with their colder climate.

With reMixes for the likes of Kele, Acid Washed & Neon Indian under their belt, it’s about time for this young trio to drop their début EP. Which they are, and giving it away for free! The guys ‘Heat Of The Nite’ EP is three tracks of urban, Sci-Fi, retro Electro. Appearing at a point where the noise powerhouse Electro of Kavinsky and Danger meet the smooth, sweeping, 80’s leads of the Valerie Collective, Jungle Fiction have produced an EP of driving Electro Disco tunes that guarantees we’re gonna’ hear more from them.

Jungle Fiction – Transhuman

Jungle Fiction – Heat Of The Nite

Finishing up the EP is a collection of reMixes from Fukkk Offf, Ishivu and F.o.o.L., it’s an amazing début should defiantly be picked up, especially as Jungle Fiction have seen fit to give it away!

You can download the whole EP from their SoundCloud page here.
