Friends Electric’s new single reworked by The Dirty Tees

I caught Welsh Indie-Electro-Poppers Friends Electric recently with Fenech-Soler and Substatic, it’s an experience I can highly recommend, the guys were awesome live.

We’ve already dropped their forthcoming new single, ‘Golden Blood’, so how about a reMix by Canadians The Dirty Tees? I think ‘banger’ is the term used… Seriously, The Dirty Tees pull no punches and turn in a full on Electro-House monster only slightly tamed with some sweet strings.

The ‘Golden Blood’ single is out 29th November.

Ill Collins & Beaumont drop the bit-crushed science

Highly underrated Aussie Nu-Disco producer Beaumont has teamed up with Ill Collins, who has an awesome name to indulge in some bit-crushed madness.

An EP is forthcoming, but this tune ‘Drane’ is a little extra gift that won’t be appearing on it. If it’s an indicator of how the EP will sound then we are in for a pretty gritty, thumping, treat. Beaumont has always had a soft spot for 8-bit sounds in his music but here he really lets himself go crazy. ‘Drane’ is a mid-tempo grinder that manages to bring a little Cosmic Disco feel to the Lo-Fi doom.

Ill Collins & Beaumont – Drane

Beaumont’s EP team up with Ill Collins should be out soon

As a side note I know absolutely nothing about who Ill Collins is, but maybe it should be noted though that his SoundCloud profile pic comes from Beaumont’s MySpace album, Beaumont’s 8-bit alter-ego perhaps? Maybe not, maybe he is some Mexican SID freak? Just sayin’…

The Twelves reMix up Munk, right nice!

You gotta’ love a good old fashioned, salt-of-the-earth The Twelves reMix! It’s something you can rely on to be absolutely banging.

Munk is the subject of this latest rework, and his forthcoming new single ‘Violent Love’ (taken from his awesome ‘Mondo Vagabondo’ EP). The Twelves layer their Nu-Disco on thick, with a laidback, but dancey, groove with hints of dub and dancehall in the production and a slight 90’s house piano feel. It’s a full on combination but one that works so well you can’t help but move to it!

Munk’s ‘Violent Love’ is released 12th November on Gomma.

eRNEST & AMz Vs. Le Rev

I have to admit, I have no idea who guitar-alt-pop duo Le Rev are but apparently they are quite sought after as songwriters having worked with the likes of Ladytron and Deadmau5.

When this reMix of their track ‘Lucky You’ by eRNEST & AMz landed in the electronic rumors inbox it really made me take notice though. Its a full on, straight to the dancefloor, ElectroPop number. C.C. Sheffield’s sultry rock vocals lend themselves amazingly well to the Electro-House-ish backing making for a compelling combination.

‘Lucky You’ is taken from the album ‘Tales Of Running Away’, out now.

Holy Ghost! reMix Mark Ronson & Boy George

I’ve got a bit of a love/hate relationship with Mark Ronson (And The Business INTL)’s new album ‘Record Collection’. Some of the tracks on there are amazing, ‘Band Bang Bang’ is one of my favourite songs of the year, but some of it is a bit dreary.

Anyway, the third single from the album is the Boy George featuring ‘Somebody To Love Me’ and Team Ronson have made the excellent decision to get super cool fellow NYC residents Holy Ghost! to reMix the track. They bring with them their unique brand of analog DIY Disco turning the track into a gritty discoball epic. Let the Garage Disco roll!

Video Villain’s ‘Fearless’ video

It looks like all things Video Villain are about to blow up! The girls have premiered their first proper music video, for ‘Fearless’ and it’s pretty damn slick.

As a music fan, writer, promoter and musician myself it’s always really exiting to watch a band from infancy to something really special. e.r. was, I believe, the first place to write about Lucy and Marie, way back in the distant past of February 2009, after they rose from the ashes of a broken Dead Disco. Carving their mark with raw, emotive electronics on a Little Boots obsessed summer you could tell they were, and still are, bound for greatness.

It’s taken a while but with a brand new website, their first live show supporting Midnight Juggernauts, the video for ‘Fearless’ and an EP due out it seems like Video Villain’s time is finally here. A change really is going to come!

A dark and dangerous video, like VV’s music and a great introduction to the band. I also really like Lucy and Marie’s face-to-face synth rig, I hope they carry that over into their live shows,

Keep your ear to the ground for Video Villain news and go show them some of your finest MySpace love!

You Love Her Coz She’s Dead; new album and single

How controversial would it be if I said I thought You Love Her Coz She’s Dead were actually better than Crystal Castles? (although not as good as Heartsrevolution). I wonder if that’s the kind of thing I’m likely to say? I mean, the last CC album was a defiant maturing of their sound and showed a real progression in their productions, but sometimes I just think there is more actual fun to be had with YLHCSD. Whatever, the world is better off with both bands in existence.

So, the news from the YLHCSD camp is the release of their début, self titled, full length album will be released this coming valentine’s day (as in 2011…2010 has flown by!) preceded by two singles. The first at the end of this month will be ‘Sunday Best’, which is YLHCSD at their most arcade chaotic, yet poppy, best. An 8-bit assault on the senses which strikes you like a wall of noise but actually has a hook that leaves you humming.

Barretso reMixes Gemini Club’s ‘Ghost’

We can’t seem to get enough of Gemini Club’s ‘Ghost’ right now. It’s such a sweet tune and the reMixes to date have been so good it’s hard to choose between them.

Enter Chilean electronic rumors staple Frankie Barretso, who has turned in a really cool, driving reMix. This is arpeggio fuelled powerhouse Disco with some euphoria inducing keys in the chorus. Still couldn’t choose my favourite reMix, but this one is defiantly at the top (probably a toss-up between this and Hey Champ!’s) .

Russ Chimes; The Midnight Club is finally here!

The wait is finally over! This week Russ Chimes’ ‘Midnight Club’ EP was finally released and it’s so good to have these tracks, we’ve played to death already, in glorious high quality!

Easily on of the best Nu-disco releases of the year (made all the better by a trilogy of amazingly crafted mini movies)  we were exited to see that the release was joined by a reMix EP as well! While we are all totally in love with the original EP track, which seem to tell a story all of their own, without the videos, as Mr. Chimes proves he is one of the most innovative and constantly perfectionist producers working in this genre, the EP provided some pleasant surprizes including this reMix of ‘Targa’ (the whole reMix EP is of ‘Targa’) by Bestrack who actually keeps a lot of the original intact but covers the song in massive synth chords and a band new big ol’ bassline.

The ‘Midnight Club’ EP and is reMix sister are out now. Both are highly recommended!
