[Audio] frYars’ ‘Cool Like Me’

fryars

It’s been while since we’ve heard from London based Indie-ElectroPopper frYars (yup, we’re still writing it like that, believe), and with his new track, Cool Like Me which dropped this week, he’s taken on a decidedly Disco groove for the summer. A surprising poolside vibe for these hot weather days from a surprising source.

Loaded with wicked little Disco licks and sumptuous space-age vocoder action, Cool Like Me, has all the elements of a Tropical Disco floorfiller, but with added frYars Indie-Pop cool. With a tongue-in-cheek vocal set amidst Disco bass and swirling strings, this tune gets both Disco and Pip just right. Whether this is an indication of a shift in sound, or just a one off, we don’t know, but we would certainly welcome more summery, feel-good, tunes like this one in future.

[Audio] The Other Tribe’s ‘My Girl’

The Other Tribe

Earlier this month we presented you with Your Kisses, the exclusive pre-order track that accompanies Bristolian Tropical/House/Indie-Electro mashup crew The Other Tribe’s forthcoming new single, My Girl. Now here’s the headlining tune itself, released later this summer it;s set to take the tail end of the festival season by storm.

Encompassing The Other Tribe’s now familiar melting pot of House beats, tribal purcussion, Tropical vibes and sunshine optimism, My Girl is another summer stormer from this five piece. Working just as well as a Deep House track headed straight for the dancefloor as it does an Indie anthem, commanding a euphoric sing-a-log crowd experience, the new single combines woody House basslines with burbling synths and a soaring vocal. Truly one of the finest Indie-Electro outfits in the UK right now.

[Audio] Cinnamon Chasers’ new EP

Cinnamon Chasers

Long time readers of electronic rumors will know that hands-down one of our favourite producers is the enigmatic Cinnamon Chasers. Spanning Dreamwave, Nu-Disco, SynthWave, Italo and House, Cinnamon Chasers has spent the last five years putting out some of the most consistently impressive records in electronic music. Here is a man who effortlessly juggles emotion and groove to deliver track that both compel you to dance and give you goosebumps. He’s gearing up to release his new EP, Time.Body.Tears, next week and we can give you an sneaky listen to some of it right here.

Time.Body.Tears serves up five tracks, each of them so washed in retro synth Boogie that it’s hard to pick favourites. The EP kicks off with Flight, an undulating tune that rolls along on thick 80s synth bass and a digital sax hook straight out of Jermaine Stewart’s We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off. It’s totally infectious and if anything is going to draw you into the rest of the EP it’s Flight. Body is up next and brings the release a dose off moody dancefloor vibes. A deep slice of piano led House, Body is washed in a hint of mid-90s Orbital-esque euphoria in it’s punchy bass, vocal instrumentation and dubby piano that makes for a pleasingly nostalgic experience. Just in case Body got you too Chilled, it’s swiftly followed by the high-octane Electro-Italo-Cosmic-Rock of Tears. Tears produces the EP’s energetic mid-point rocking an almost perfect combination of Italo bass, breakin’ beats, rousing chords and just the tiniest hint of Ultravox’s Midge Ure. Time brings us, stylistically, back from the 80s to the 90s once more with a slice of classic sounding dance, once again hypnotising us with a big piano hook on this slo-House Jam. Proving the EP’s nod to Tropical Disco, Time has one foot on the beach, the other in distant galaxies. The EP closes on Friends, a massive emotional finale, mixing up Cinnamon Chasers’ resonant chords with a layer of gritty, dirty Disco-House, all chainsaw synths and twisted vocoding. Leaving you with a truck load of Funk, Friends is pure heavyweight French style Nu-Disco with an 80s Electro-Soul heart. Cinnamon Chasers haven’t let us down yet, continuing to be one of the best in the game. Naturally, this is a highly recommended release.

[MP3] Final DJs’ ‘Feel Your Breath’

final-djs_thumb_thumb_thumb

Another new single from Final DJs?!?!? They just don’t quit do they? Whenever Germany’s finest release a new tune it;s always a guessing game as to whether it’ll be SynthWave Final DJs or Nu-Disco Final DJs, whether it’ll be sweeping cinematic synths or groovy Tropical riffs. This new tune, Feel Your Breath, featured on the We Re-Created Disco, is a little of both, but leaning toward mirrorballed dancefloors.

Before we talk about the rest of the song, we just have to mention the insane, emotional, spine-tingling breakdown in this tune. A shuffling, rich, build with gentle vocal tones that is prefect for winding up excitement on the floor. Feel Your Breath itself is pure Final DJs’ epicness. A bouncy bassline is set off with soaring synth solos that take you on a journey throughout the track. One of this duos finest to date, Feel Your Breath is every bit for your mind and your ears as it is for your feet. The complete package.

the-other-tribe_thumb

This is Your Kisses, a track that will be available exclusively with pre-orders of Bristol’s finest Indie-Electro rabble rousers The Other Tribe’s forthcoming new single My Girl. A soulful House track, this could have been a single in it’s own right, but who can turn down a freebie?

Nicely mixing up The Other Tribes’ infectious tribal EelctroPop with a slick deep House groove, Your Kisses is a perfect late night jam. There’s even a hint of a Torpical vibe in there too, which gives it a nice summery feel. Not that anything The Other Tribe turn their attention to doesn’t turn out summery as hell. If you get the chance to catch these guys live during the warmer months, you’d be a fool not to.

[MP3] Aimes’ ‘Keep On Movin’’

Aimes

Here’s the new one from Brooklyn synth head Aimes who, with Keep On Movin’, have taken on a new laid back House vibe to his music. We last heard from Aimes earlier in the year with his Beautiful Decay reMix EP that bounced off of last year’s original release. It looks like the producer wants to set us up for the summer with his new material.

Keep On Movin’ is a perfect slice of lazy electronica, the kind of tune you want soundtracking hazy summer days spent with friends. Sleek and soulful, it gives away Aimes’ Chillwave roots with waves of lush synths and warm tones that wash the track in a comfortable glow. Contrasting this is a solid House beat and a bassline with just a touch of Disco funk and a hint of Tropical dreaminess. We guarantee, this is one slice of sunshine bliss you won’t want to miss.

[Audio] Goldroom reMixes Owl Eyes

Owl Eyes

Just as the weather is getting warmer here in the UK, hopefully for good (you can never really tell when summer’s going to start here), Goldroom drops a brand new reMix to soundtrack our forthcoming holiday weekend. Turning his not inconsiderable talents, this time, to Australian singer/songwriter Owl Eyes and a track off her recent début EP, Faces, to be featured on a forthcoming reMix release.

Around the one minute mark, in this reMix, Josh drops an immensely funky little Acid riff that hangs around throughout the tune. Burbling 303s may seem like a departure for the king of Dreamwave but it’s blended so effortlessly into the lush tropical Disco that it sounds perfect. Hypnotic and enticing. This little nod to the warehouse, from the beach, is just enough to give the track the kind of essence that would work just as well under the strobe lights as under the mirrorball. Hazy, summery, dancefloor, gold(room).

[MP3] Little Boots reMixed by Cosmic Kids

little_boots

Hot on the heels of the storming release of her sophomore album Nocturnes, the queen of ElectroPop Little Boots has snuck out this funky little reMix of the album’s preceding single Broken Record. Not on the official release, this rework comes from LA duo Cosmic Kids.

Cosmic Kids bring a little Tropical flavour and dreamy, laid back, LA Disco vibe to the track. Never veering to far into full on poolside Disco thought, The duo keep things pretty Housey, with a burbling Acid bassline and pumping beat. Cavernous synths swirl around the track, weaving themselves in and out of ghostly vocal snatches, while the overall moody groove is offset with bright, shimmering chimes. Lush, spaces Disco/House sounds right here.

Here’s an unexpected slice of awesomeness. Goldroom and Mereki’s Only You Can Show Me, which has been on heavy rotation round these parts since March, has only gone and got itself a video.

Directed by Jake Gibson, the clip has a really optimistic, feel good vibe with lots of grooving fro Mereki and a cast of smiling faces. Unfortunately there’s no Josh bopping around in it, but you can’t have everything.
