NightWaves; ‘Sweet Carrie’ reMixes

NightWaves03

Binary Records guys NightWaves’ single ‘Sweet Carrie was released a few days ago and despite having sung it’s praises we think you might still need some convincing.

So here we have for you some of the reMixes that come with the single, kicking off with LexiconDon, who keep hold of the chilled summer vibe but pull it in more of a straight ElectoPop direction with stunning results. While everyone else in the world is chilling to this tune in the sun with a beverage, Walter Sobcek heads straight for the dancefloor with his take on the track leaving Alfa to crack out an arpeggio driven Electro reMix. It’s a storming reMix package, well worth a purchase!

Cinnamon Chasers’ new EP

CinnamonChasers

We, here, are big supporters of Cinnamon Chasers, their last album ‘A Million Miles From Home’ made it into the top 5 of our top 20 of 2009 so we’re pretty damn’ exited at the news of a new EP.

The ‘Sunset Drive’ EP will contain five tracks, including this one, ‘You’ which sees CC leaning in a slightly more full on Dreamwave direction whiles keeps the chilled summery vibe we love and expect from them.

The video for ‘Luv Deluxe’ which we featured way back when recently won ‘best music video’ at SXSW, and well deserved too, it’s an amazing video/track.

MiMó

mimo

MiMó is, or rather was, Erasure’s Any Bell. Having recently released his second single, ‘Will You Be There?". ‘, under the moniker (a tribute to his friend Tomeau Mimó), Andy had decided to release future records under his own name due to more than one artist already using the name Mimo.

The singles, ‘Running Out’ and, the current, ‘Will You Be There?’ are a couple of Italo influenced ElectroPop/EuroPop tunes produced by Pop producer extraordinaire Pascal Gabriel. Upbeat, dancefloor, Pop tracks with Andy’s unmistakable vocals both singles have an impressive line up of reMixers. ‘Will You Be There?’ can include amongst it’s reMix credentials this mix from French Horn Rebellion who bring a relaxed Nu-Disco flavour to the track and ‘Running Out’ features a mix from Indie-Electro band-of-the-moment Fenech-Soler who’s sweeping, chilled, Electro mix is the highlight of the single.

Barretso reMixes Housse De Racket

HousseDeRacket

When electronic rumors fav Barretso dropped his new mixtape the couple of days ago to tracks really held our interest. Both reMixes by Barratso himself, firstly of the Vanish’s ‘Heartbeats’ and secondly of French synthesizer (or Synthetiseur) heroes Housse De Racket’s ‘Oh Yeah!’.

The guys over at Trashbags have finally dropped the Housse De Racket mix and it’s a proper Nu-Disco workout, hard FM bass adds a real kick to Barretso’s sweet lead lines. This is an absolutely killer reMix, when the track kick back in from that build those soaring synths will just carry you away!

You can pick up Berretso’s mixtape at his SoundCloud here, now we’re just waiting with baited breath for that The Vanish mix, it sounds wicked!

The single for ‘Oh Yeah!’ is due out in May

Ladytron; Velocifero – reMixed & Rare

Ladytron02

A couple of days ago the supreme rulers of all things Indie-Electro, Ladytron, released the fourth and final instalment of their ‘Remixed & Rare’ series. Each release of the series focused on one of their four studio albums collecting reMixes from the single, B-sides and other gems.

Taking it’s tracks from 2007’s ‘Velocifero’ it’s mostly collected from the singles that accompanied the album with a couple of surprises thrown in. Take a listen to some of our favourites. The Toxic Avenger absolutely hammers home his dirty Electro-House banger version of ‘Ghosts’, Port-Royal turn in a Lo-Fi chilled take on ‘Tomorrow’ while Grey Ghost turns ‘Predict The Day’ into a smooth, vocoder driven, Dreamwave-esq synth odyssey.

Panic Bomber

PanicBomber

Miami’s Panic Bomber has just released a new EP on Canada’s YYZ Records.

The ‘Discipline EP’’s title track is a genre crushing Nu-Disco/SynthPop/Acid Techno stormer. A hard and dark bassline propels the track forward and counterpoints the catchy vocals, and that’s before it goes crazy with Acid builds!

NightWaves; new single and Beaumont reMix

NightWaves03

Coming straight out of LA based SynthPop/Dreamwave collective Binary Records, NightWaves have been throwing out some awesome tunes recently. I’m still rockin’ to their cover of ‘In The Air Tonight’!

Next week they duo drop their new single ‘Sweet Carrie’ and continuing the evolution of the NightWaves sound they’ve dropped some subtle guitars into the mix which blend pretty well with their dreamy synths. The tracks is pure summertime cool which, frankly, makes you wish you were somewhere else (unless, of course, you are already somewhere chillin’ in the sun, in which case, here’s your soundtrack!) You can check the video here.

Along with a killer package, our good friend Beaumont has contributed his take in the tune to the mix. The Aussie producer turns in sweet laidback Electro-House mix that makes brilliant use of cut-up vocals and finds a voice all of it’s own.

As a bonus the guys are releasing the stems of the track for all and sundry to reMix! Download them here.

‘Sweet Carrie’ drops next Tuesday on dubFrequency.

DāM-FunK covers The Human League

Dr. Martins, British footwear provider to the Indie inclined for, well, forever, are celebrating 50 years in the boot business by commissioning a whole heap of artists to cover 10 classic tracks.

This is the track you’ll be particularly interested in. La Electro-Funk agitator DāM-FunK taking The Human League’s ‘The Things That Dreams Are Made Of’ to Moog heaven.

Like Barry White channelling Phil Oakey this is a really raw Funk, bass heavy version.

Marina And The Diamonds reMixed by Lovers & Gamblers

MarinaAndTheDiamons05

More Marina And The Diamonds you say? Well that’s just fine! Especially as she is the target for the latest reMix by Little Boot’s posse Lovers & Gamblers.

A few reMixes in and we’re now starting to get a real feel for L&G’s style. I love the way they use their synths, it’s pretty stripped down, just concentrating on the groove, it’s like raw Electro Disco. I can imagine them, not surrounded by thousands of pounds worth of studio gear, but with a handful of trusty analog synths and a four-track! This reMix has a killer bassline, pretty aggressive but sweetened by the blanket of retro synth work over the top, and we know the original’s a good song anyway!

Marina And The Diamonds – I Am Not A Robot (Lovers & Gamblers Precious Little Diamond reMix) (zShare) (MediaFire)

Is it just me or do Marina’s vocals really lend well to reMixes? More so than most?

The ‘I Am Not A Robot’ single is out on 26th April.

Penguin Prison & Starsmith; who could ask for more?

PenguinPrison04

After his sterling work on Ellie Goulding’s number 1 album, SynthPop prodigy Starsmith is back in the reMixing game and there’s not an artist I can thin of who I rather hear him reMix than Penguin Prison.

Tackling ‘The Worse It Gets’ for Penguin Prison’s recent double A side Starsmith turns in a sheer brilliant slice of Nu-Disco styled electronic Pop. The man was one of the most talented electronic music producers around anyway but I think his time chillin’ with Messrs Chimes and Grum has been a good influence on him! Really looking forward to his solo EP!
