[Download] Futurewife With Sister Girlfriend’s ‘Summer’s End’

Futurewife

Seattle’s resident groove master Futurewife and ElectroPop three piece Sister Girlfriend seem like the most nightmarish match made in heaven, yet the results are a pure dream. These guys have teamed fellow local resident Tiffany Wan to deliver this tricked out Funk jam, Summer’s End. So sit back, put your feet up and your headphones on, and sink into some of the smoothest sounds around.

Futurewife serves up some infectious rolling bass hooks and Old School Hip Hop beats for his slick vintage Disco to flow over. Thick synth stabs and retro sweeps form a neat package that allows Futurewife and Tiffany Wan to roll out a sweet duet over the top. It’s an interesting combination of influences, but this time too many cooks certainly don’t spoil anything. This melting pot definitely works.

[Download] Starcadian’s ‘Wrecking Shot’

Starcadian

Back in 2012, when we were just getting to know his work, New York’s synthesizer mastermind Starcadian released what is possibly one of the best mashups ever unleashed on the world. First Kill crammed in Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Pharoahe Monch, Queen, Belinda Carlisle, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Busta Rhymes and Wu Tang Clan over some seriously hard hitting Disco sounds. Now, with one of our favourite albums of last year, Sunset Blood, under his belt, and with the storming new Saturdaze EP, on the horizon Starcadian drags you back to the dancefloor with his follow-up bootleg. This is Wrecking Shot.

This time around Miley Cyrus, Ol’ Dirty Bastard & Kelis and Tracy Weber get run through Starcadian’s galactic groove machine and spat out the other side in as a mirror-balled glam jam. Piled high with the finest French Touch, Nu-Disco and a surprising amount of Italo, Wrecking Shot once again surprises us as Starcadian makes seemingly disparate songs weave in and out of each other seamlessly. Where Fist Kill was full throttle Electro, Wrecking Shot has a smooth and soulful side. This should more than keep you going until Starcadian brings his urban synth Disco, with a Saturday morning TV theme vibe, on the new EP.

Starcadian’s Sunset Blood is out now. The Saturdaze EP is released 26th September.

[Audio] Ilya Santana’s ‘Big Foot’ reMixed by Future Feelings

ilya_santana

Mediterranean Cosmic Disco master Ilya Santana has released on most of the top Disco labels at one time or another, and now the Spaniard is preparing to unleash his latest single via London’s Retrospective Recordings. It’s called Big Foot, which immediately makes us think of those shaped ice creams, which, we guess, adds to the laid back summery groove in some way. Right here we are premièring our friends, Mexican Nu-Disco outfit Future Feelings, take on the tune. Deep and synthy stuff to follow.

Future Feelings take the very organic Disco sounding original and inject it with a healthy dose of robo-boogie. The Cosmic vibe is still in place, but in this more synthetic environment takes on a Jarre-like quality as it rides over an undulating electronic groove. The bass hammers home while the leads fly. Analog Disco at it’s best, this reMix is a galactic journey through a 70s lens. Buck Rogers would have loved this one!””

[Download] MiGHty mOUse’s ‘That Piano Track’

Mighty Mouse

Fresh out the oven; here’s the latest monster from floorfilling renaissance man MiGHty mOUse. Following on from his recent Shaker Faker/Space Face single of earlier this year, That Piano Track, continues the MiGHty mOUse trend of throwing a whole bunch of dance music genres into a blender and generating something awesome and fresh. Put together primarily for his DJ sets, the mOUse man felt this one was too good to be kept to himself. We tend to agree.

There’s just so much more personality in MiGHty mOUse’s tunes than many of his contemporaries. Never following a formula he always delivers something that’s completely in-tune with the dancefloor but with a heap of added quirkiness; That Piano Track is no exception. With frantic purcussion and a groove that effortlessly slides from light piano hooked House to sub rumbling Bass; this one will definitely keep the crowd locked in. Enjoy.

[Audio] Paradisko reMixes Portecho’s ‘9PM’

Portecho

Turkish Duo Paradisko, who you may remember from their storming début, Chewing Gum, have just turned in a fantastic new reMix to lift your mid-week. Taking on 9PM, from Indie-Electro outfit Portecho, a duo whos membership spans Istanbul and New York; the track gets it;s official release this week. Check it out.

Easing you into the tune gently, Paradisko use the originals moody vocal perfectly as they build up the atmosphere in their reMix before launching into an analog Disco Italofest. Squealing synths and stripped down beats permeate this tune, lightly sprinkled with stabbing piano and gentle bass. There’s a hint of early 90s dance in the mix, but a big chunk of this tune’s DNA is owed to Mediterranean clubs in the mid-80s. An awesome nostalgia fest.

[Audio] Ben Macklin’s ‘Dare’

ben-macklin

Here we have the new outing from Cassette Club’s Ben Macklin; get your shorts on, ‘cos this one is ultra-Tropical. Teaming up once again with frequent collaborator Emma Brammer Ben is serving up some of the dreamiest Disco sounds around to ease you out of the summer gently. Dare is released this week and comes correct with a couple of reMixes from fellow Londoner Luxar.

So recline on your pool lounger, flip the shades down, take a sip on that cocktail and slide into the smooth bassline and swelling vocals of Dare. A steady Nu-Disco tune with a little undercurrent of House and a Balearic vibe, Macklin deliverers it all with this one. Island chimes subtly blending into a hazy piano hook set the tone for the track, mixing Chicago with LA and laying the groundwork for Brammer’s smokey vocal to swirl around the track. The summer ends here, but that doesn’t mean we have to stop dancing.

[Audio] Lovestarrs’ ’80’s Love Song’

Lovestarrs

It seems like ElectroPop heroes Lovestarrs have well and truly shaken off the manacles of The Good Natured as Sarah and crew joyously revel in their new found freedom. After the monster rabble rousing début (comeback?) single Get Your Sexy On, team Lovestarrs have been drip feeding us a string of funky and uplifting tracks from their forthcoming new EP, Supernova. Well, premièring right here is the final drip ahead of Supernova’s release. This is 80’s Love Song.

With a surprising amount of retro Boogie in it’s DNA, 80’s Love Song is an exuberant and energetic hot-summer-nights anthem. It’s sassier and slinkier than anything we’ve heard from Lovestarrs (or The Good Natured) to date; rolling on a buoyant Disco groove, leaden with irresistible bass, the tune could have quite easily made for the latest vintage-tinged floorfiller. Not content with filling dancefloors alone though, Sarah adds a smooth, shimmering, and gloriously British Pop sheen with her urban dreamtime narrative, delivered with an infectious optimism. An interesting take on how DiscoPop should sound, a low down groove paired with Indie sensibilities. After a few summers full of LA-esque Indie-DiscoPop tunes, it’s refreshing to get down to a retro summertime vibe that sounds undeniably from the UK. Supernova is looking like the shake-up British SynthPop needs.
