[Download] JBAG reMixes Jolie Jolie Chérie’s ‘Où Tu Veux’

jolie-chrie

Parisian DiscoPop trio Jolie Chérie have release a free reMix package for their Où Tu Veux single. Released in January, the rousing SynthPop ballad features extra vocals from Valli and has now got a fresh set of versions from the likes of James Curd, Solar Systems, Quater Chic, Scuola Furano and this soaring slice of Island ElectroPop euphoria from London’s finest DiscoPop duo, JBAG. Jolie Chérie reMixed JBAG’s X-Ray Sex single of 2010, it’s well overdue that the favour is returned.

JBAG eschews and mood of the original in favour of a carefree dancefloor vibe. Despite being quite mid-tempo, JBAG keep the energy up and the mood hectic, inserting random riffs and sirens into the mix; giving the track an organised chaotic feel. At it’s core lies a laid back Tropical grove built around syncopated stabs and a clap-a-long beat that never relent over the tracks seven minute length. A departure indeed from the original, and a surefire summer jam.

[Audio] Chloe Martini’s ‘Volatile Dreams’

Chloe Martini

This week Polish producer Chloe Martini released her new EP via Roche Musique. Warsaw based musician Anna Zmijewska is already the subject of quite a bit of attention from the likes of Bondax, Annie Mac and Friend within who have all championed her tunes. With a manifesto to Bring back the 80s, Chloe Martini serves up some of the smoothest Electronic Soul and Dreamwavey Nu-Disco around. Her new EP is titled Private Joy; here’s our favourite track from the release, Volatile Dreams.

Volatile Dreams features talkboxed vocal stylings from Azteka to help it along it’s thick synth Funk path. Slick-as-all-hell retro Disco is provided by a densely layered concoction of lush synths, punchy vintage bass and busy rhythms. For such a new and young artist, Volatile Dreams is an incredibly mature production showing a deep understanding of 80s Soul, Funk, Disco and Boogie. It’s also the perfect summertime jam. A powerhouse dancefloor track, but also nostalgic to the max. Impressive stuff.

[Audio] Goldroom reMixes Ekkah’s ‘Last Chance To Dance’

Ekkah

Dreamwave originator and purveyor of all things nautical Disco Goldroom has treated us to a brand new reMix. He’s been a bit quiet recently, since ‘Till Sunrise, due to all the constant gigging and whatnot so it’s nice to hear some fresh music. The object of his talents this time is Brummie Rebekah/Rebecca themed duo Ekkah’s single of last year, Last Chance To Dance. Soak it up.

Goldroom immediately drops you in the middle of some island bliss with rolling percussion and delicate arpeggios before launching into dreamy beach House vibes. Ekkah’s vocals have a certain soulful quality and skippy Pop groove that lends themselves perfectly to Goldroom’s piano lead feel-good soundtrack. Can’t stop vibing to this.

[Audio] Shook reMixes Great Good Fine OK’s ‘Too Much To Handle’

Great Good Fine OK

We’ve made no secret of the fact that Dutch musical master Shook is one of our favourite Disco producers around. The multi-instrumentalist adds a layer of musicality to his music that many of his contemporary producers can’t manage. Most recently he’s lent his talents to Brooklyn based Indie outfit Great Good Fine OK in reMixing their new single Too Much To Handle. This single is released ahead of their 2M2H EP to be released later this month.

Shook has a little fun with this reMix. For his take on Too Much To Handle he’s whipped up a bouncy, vintage affair. Quite stripped back and subtle, Shook decides not to got for the big, attention grabbing reMix tricks in favour of delivering a sweet, chilled, tune that borrows much from 80s Soul and captures some perfect Sunday afternoon listening vibes.

[Download] Ben Macklin & Le Flex’s ‘Escape’

ben-macklin

After having him reMix his tune Dare, London Tropical groover Ben Macklin has teamed up with Le Flex to produce a brand new original track. Released this week in Macklin’s SoundCloud page, Escape is available as a free download, which is generous of him. Check out the smooth sounds of Escape below.

This is exactly the kind of poolside House jam we love Mr. Macklin for, with an added upbeat injection from Le Flex. Smooth as hell, Escape is dripping with a chilled summertime vibe built on an infectious bass hook and stabbing synths. The percussive keys give it that Topical flavour, but doesn’t overpower it’s laid back House credentials. We’re putting this in the pile marked ‘summer soundtrack’; we can’t wait for better weather to blast this one.

[Audio] Hemingway’s ‘Lost Tribe’

hemingway

Torontonian Disco experimentalist Hemingway always serves up something interesting with every tune he releases, which means we pay attention whenever a new track appears. This one right here comes from  the Stratford Ct. 1yr Anniversary Compilation, which is apparently a compilation to mark the one year anniversary of another compilation. It’s worth checking out if just for Lost Tribe, Hemingway’s latest compelling offering.

Hemingway offers up some seriously intoxicating Disco sounds on this one. Intricately crafted, Lost Tribe takes distant elements and melds them into an amazingly funky whole, all held in place by a hi-hat heavy rhythm and a warbling bass. Haunting sound drop in and out of the mix and lilting, emotional melodies drift around the track, making it something wildly more cerebral than it’s contemporaries, but all the time keeping the dancefloor vibes strong.
