Silver Columns; Always On

‘Always On’ is the next single from Scottish ElectroPop experimentalists Silver Columns.

The track, that successfully walks the line between Avant Garde and Bedroom Pop, also gets a whopping nine minute reMix from Caribou, who take the listener on a synthesizer journey through deep analog basses and bleeps and blips making Silver Columns suddenly sound very Hot Chip.

MEN’s ‘Credit Card Babie$’ video

This is the video for New York Indie-Disco act MEN’s début UK single ‘Credit Card Babie$’.

Starting out with a core duo of Le Tigre members JD Samson and Johanna Fatema, MEN has expanded into a full on band and art/performance collective. The video for their insanely catchy Indie-Electro-Pop début was directed by Matt Wolf.

‘Credit Card Babie$’ is released 6th September.

The Vanish return with ‘Heartbeat’

Things have been quiet from The Vanish camp since the release of their last single, ‘Hold On’ but this week sees the release of ‘Heartbeat’, the second track from their demo EP to be given the single treatment.

The Indie-Disco-Pop ‘Heartbeat’ was my favourite track on the original demo EP, making top ten in electronic rumors’ top 20 songs of 2009, so the single, and it’s stellar reMix line up is most welcome here. Speaking of ‘stellar’, Australians Get Stellar and Beaumont both provide mixes for the package.

That was a terrible segway…………….

Anyway, the Beaumont mix we have for you here isn’t the one appearing on the single, that is an 8-bit Chiptune-Disco affair, this alternate mix is a smooth electronic Pop track in the Starsmith vein that I think I actually prefer. There is a certain epic journey-ness to this mix that can’t help but win you over. Get Stellar’s reMix goes straight for the Electro-Disco jugular that’s just made for late night dancefloor action.

The Vanish – Heartbeat (Get Stellar reMix)

Also on the single is the stunning, simple stunning, Barretso reMix, if I can post it I will.

‘Heartbeat’ is our now.

Eat More Cake

Eat More Cake are a four piece from London who take in an eclectic array of influences to create their down-tempo electronica.

It’s a synth bass in their new single ‘Has To Be Done’ that really hooked me in. The track is a strange beast that waits until you’re comfortable with your impressions of it then flips out on you. Spanning Synth-Rock, Indie-Pop and ElectroPop in one song sounds like a feat, but Eat More Cake pull it off with slickness and a smooth male/female vocal duet.

Eat More Cake – Has To Be Done (Album Version)

Check their reMix of Stardust’s ‘The Music Sounds Better With You’ for more genre mashing.

Faded Paper Figures

Faded Paper Figures are a trio from LA who make some of the quaintest ElectroPop you’ll ever hear.

Like a slightly more Indie Freezepop, cheap drum machines and toytown synths are the order of the day here. Faded Paper Figures have an immediate charm about them that is helped, in no small part, by both male and female vocals which, rather than duel, compliment and intertwine around each other. Occasionally you can hear bit of The Postal Service creeping into things, maybe some Passion Pit too, but for the most part Faded Paper Figures have a pretty unique sound of their own, one that sounds honest and heartfelt.

It’s ElectroPop that makes you feel like everything is, in fact, going to be OK!

They have just released their second album ‘New Medium’, check out two of the tracks from it:

Reset! and Justin Faust reMix Goldhawks

I’ve never heard of London Soft Rock band Goldhawks before, listening to the tracks on their MySpace they sound a little generic, but you’re not interested in that are you? They have a new single coming out called ‘Keep The Fire’ and it’s backed up with a totally monster reMix package!

Here we have two of the best, Italian Nu-Disco producers Reset! and the always excellent Justin Faust both take, what is essentially a good song, out of the murk of AOR and onto the dancefloor. Reset! completely demolish the original and build it up into an Italo/Balearic deathmatch while Mr. Faust’s epic Dreamwavey mix brushes the track with a bit of French Touch.

Goldhawks – Keep The Fire (Reset! reMix)

Also on the single is an electro/Dubstep mix from Bar9 and a chilled mix by Softwar. The whole package is defiantly worth your investigation.

Futuristic Retro Champions

Futuristic Retro Champions are a Glasgow based Indie-Electro four piece who are gearing up for the release of their début double A-side, ‘May The Forth’/’Settle Down’.

And, frankly, it’s pretty rad. These three girls and one guy’s particular brand of ElectroPop, with it’s heavy Indie-electro pounding counterpointed with sparkling 80’s sounding  lead lines, is catchy as hell and toped of with vocals with an adorable Scottish twang. The production is pretty huge too, allowing these cute little ElectroPop tracks to evolve into epic, emotive power tracks.

Check ‘em out:

‘May The Forth’/’Settle Down’ drops 5th August as a limited edition CD or as a download from the band’s Bandcamp.

New I Am Noxious track

Why isn’t Mr. T signed yet? It’s pretty baffling.

Well, as long as he hasn’t got a record label breathing down his neck he’s gonna’ keep letting me share his tracks with you lot!

His latest I Am Noxious track, ‘Flashback Tears’ may be his best yet, despite the underlying melancholy in his music this track is surprisingly uplifting. this track sounds like it’s moving slightly away from his usual Bedroom Pop style in to an almost Passion Pit/Miike Snow Indie-Electro territory, but with more of a cheeky British edge.

I Am Noxious – Flashback Tears

I’m sure Mr. T has got some more sweet Pop up his sleeve, keep it locked to his MySpace.

New Dragonette track!

New Dragonette in the electronic rumors inbox is never a bad thing!

Their new single, ‘Our Summer’, is released later this month followed by ‘Mixin’ To Thrill’, an album of reMixes from the past year.. ‘Our Summer’ is a stompin’ good Electro party tune that will surely whip the crowd into a frenzy on their forthcoming US tour. Defiantly more straight Electro than the band have released before, I’d go so far as to say it’s pretty Electro-Punk!

Check it out:

Jump Jump Dance Dance – Modern Eyes

‘Modern Eyes’ is the latest single from LA Indie-Electro duo Jump Jump Dance Dance, it’s a catchy, glitchy guitar track that goes well 80’s in the chorus.

Check the clip directed by Clemens Habicht.

There’s some nice reMixes floating around, each with it’s own dancey take on the tune. Beni brings an almost Fidget style to his Electro reMix while Bit Funk turn in (probably) our favourite of the mixes, it’s a smooth Nu-Disco, organ fuelled, floorfiller. Vindata’s mix also has a place in our harts, all 80’s arpeggios and vocoders, what’s not to love?
