[Audio] Tensnake’s ‘The Walk’

tensnake

We’re massive fans of both German retro House overlord Tensnake and his record label True Romance. Shocking revelation; we know! We eagerly look forward to releases from both, and when they are together it’s something switch on your ‘email me when it’s released’ notification on Juno for so you can get that vinyl ASAP. The new release will be Keep On Talking, which we have already been grooving to for a bit; back with this new tune, premièred at Mixmag, titled The Walk.

The Walk rumbles along on a propulsive bassline after the introduction of meticulously synthesized drums and Balearic percussion. This one is a pure joyous House tune, with no pretentions other that making the crowd loose themselves on the dancefloor. Snappy snares and irresistible retro-hooks offer up a megaton slab of classic House with a pitch perfect build. Timeless and unshakably funky; The Walk feels like a solid, workhorse, crate filler.

[Audio] Kim Ann Foxman reMixes her own ‘Creature’

kim ann foxman

Creature was, then Hercules And Love Affair alumni, Kim Ann Foxman’s début release back in 2010. Released alongside fellow H&LA’er Andy Butler, the track is now getting it’s first vinyl release at the third release on Kim’s own new imprint, Firehouse Recordings. Back with a host of new reMixes, the Creature vinyl also features this updated mix of the tune from Kim herself. Prepare yourself of some deep Acid vibes.

Like the original, Kim’s new reMix is an ode to classic House music, in this case moody, dimly lit, Chicago warehouse vibes. An enthralling seven minutes of undulating synths and burbling basslines, this reMix of Creature is a hypnotic and intoxicating affair, shifting and evolving over it’s length, from dark and growling Acid House to soulful and haunting electronica. A totally enchanting track set to a shuffling House beat.

[Audio] GotSome reMix Róisín Murphy’s ‘Exploitation’

roisin-murphy

Exploitation, the first single from Hairless Toys, the about–to-be released new album from Avant-DiscoPop queen Róisín Murphy has been given the bass heavy floorfiller treatment from Bristol’s finest GotSome. The reMix rubs impressive shoulders with work from the likes of DJ Sneak and Falco Benz on the single and more than makes it’s mark by drawing you into it’s hypnotic groove. Check it out below.

Pulsating robo-bass and a jump up beat drive this juggernaut of a track. Murphy’s vocals are the prefect counter for this throbbing and woozy House tune; her soft tones curling across the high-octane machine groove like smoke. GotSome serve up a symphony of tough rhythms, cowbell and loose keys; punctuated by those demonic synth growls. Strobe light stuff, GotSome are on a roll.

[Audio] Nude Disco & Foreign Boy’s ‘S E X E’

foreign-boy

Nude Disco and Foreign Boy are at it again. The Nude Disco Records staples have collaborated on yet another track, this one our first hint of what to expect from Foreign Boy’s début full length album; coming later this year in the Autumn. When these two get together synth Disco amazingness generally happens; so get you dancing shoes on for S E X E.

Sitting at the nexus point between Boogie and House, S E X E comes laden with an absolutely pounding synth bassline. This heavy and infections bass is accompanied by a warehouse beat and Foreign Boy’s vocal drifting across the mix. Honestly, you won’t be able to get enough of that bassline. This bodes well for FB’s premiere release, let’s hope we can expect more of thins Vintage, jackin’ SynthPop groove.

[Audio] Anoraak’s ‘Odds Are Good’

anoraak

Not only is there a new tune in the offing from French Dreamwave legends Anoraak, but it’s released by Eskimo Recordings. That seems like a match made in heaven. Old School members of the Valerie crew, Anoraak have pride of place on Eskimo’s new addition to their colour coded compilation series, The Orange Collection. Hopefully this means there more new material from Anoraak on the horizon. Check out Odds Are Good.

Anoraak main-man Frédéric Rivière oozes his way through the track with a smokey grace. Haunting vocals and easy nostalgic synths trickle over four minutes of dreamy SynthPop. When the growling, moody bass meets the pin-prick arpeggios, hazy magic happens. This is the kind of classic Anoraak tune that you can just sink into. Let the music envelop you.

[Audio] Little Boots’ ‘Better In The Morning’

Little Boots

In a post-Business Pleasure world we are eagerly awaiting the release of the queen of ElectroPop, Little Boots,’s third album. It’s titled Working Girl and set to be released in July, and in advance of that, we can have our first taste in the form of the pre-release single which was unleashed this week. The single is called Better In The Morning, a track that she’s been teasing for the past few days and is now available for your listening pleasure in all it’s glory.

Better In The Morning is a continuation of the evolution of Little Boots sound. As hinted at on the Business Pleasure EP, the new material seems to be less Deep House influenced and taking a Alt-Pop slant. It’s got itself a quirky DiscoPop groove, which more of a Raw feel that her very early DiscoPop track. This feels like the DIY Pop we’ve always though of her as. It’s Pop with no rules. Woody bassline and a solid beat propel the track, which is leaden with robotic sound effects and synth scratches while Boot’s enigmatic nursery rhyme vocals feel pleasingly biting and tongue-in-cheek. It’s a track that you just have to bob your head to, there’s no preventing that. We’re dead excited for the album.

[Download] Du Tonc reMix Pixies ‘Monkey Gone To Heaven’

The PIXIES

After premièring it on their recent Music To Show Aliens When They Land On Earth mixtape, Du Tonc (the globe trotting team-up of Matt Van Schie and MiGHty mOUse) have unleashed their the surprise tune from that mix. A reMix of Pixies late 80s/early 90s Indie club staple; Monkey Gone To Heaven. As a prelude to their forthcoming new single, released later this month, this reMix is bound to keep you going for a while.

Effortlessly blending a bit of Indie nostalgia (if you like that sort of thing) with their magical Tropical Disco sound, Du Tonc strip down most of the original, keeping a few grooves and vocal snatches, but manage to hold onto Monkeys Gone To Heaven‘s feel with Matt Van Schie’s trademark Disco dream basslines and the waves of lush synths and wicked little licks we expect from these two. It’s a track the you can’t help but smile about, particularly if you’re familiar with the original. Summer goodness right here.
