[Audio] Lenno reMixes Chromeo’s ‘Jealous (I Ain’t With It)’

chromeo

This, we imagine, is the last of our posts about Canadian funksters Chromeo’s Jealous (I Ain’t With It). Once the stems to a song like this are released into the world, everyone and their dog grabs those coat-tails. We already featured Ride The Universe’s amazing reMix of the tune, a slick laid back Disco stormer. At the other end of the spectrum sit our favourite Finn, Lenno, who takes the track straight to the big room. We’re not expecting anyone to do any better than these two, so case closed.

Taken from their new album White Women, Jealous (I Ain’t With It) was Chromeo’s first single from the album, but weirdly probably the album’s least-strong track. That is, before the likes of Lenno got their hands on it. As we’d expect from Lenno, he makes things truly massive with layers of hugs synths, perfectly produced, Building and building over a Boogie-esque bassline that gives the track a little Disco undertone, Lenno would have the dancefloor in the palm of his hand with this one. Dave 1’s vocals are just the icing on the cake here. We’ve got this on on repeat.

[Audio] Arcade High’s ‘Heat Wave’

Arcade High

One of our favourite SynthWave artists, the Pittsburgh based Arcade High has just released his new EP. Out on digital, or CD (with bundled T-shirt!) via Telefuture, the Heat Wave EP is the first proper release we’ve had from Arcade High since last summers storming Pixel Passion album and sees Ryan indulging his high energy ElectroPop side. Check out the EP’s title track below.

What Arcade High has served up with Heat Wave, which features a nostalgic, Debbie Gibson-esque vocal turn from Morissa Trunzo) is a classy slice of pure American 80s Pop. This one’s all about the pinprick brightness of the synths. Crisp electronic melodies play against each other in a carefree manner to provide a kinetic instrumental for Trunzo’s euphoric performance.A summer soundtrack if ever there was one, Heat Wave is a buoyant and insouciant tune that invites you along with it, you’d be a fool to say no.

Robert Francis Muller directs the clip, whos kaleidoscopic kinetic energy matches the track’s hands-in-the-air bliss pretty well.

[Download] Figure Of 8 reMixes Christobel’s ‘White Ring’

Christobel

Here’s a tasty new track from our Northern Irish homie Figure Of 8. We never know what we’re going to get with a Figure Of 8 reMix, he’s got this knack of keeping a classic Dance music core while getting pretty experimental with his tunes, and this new one of no different. It’s a reMix of Australian signer Christobel’s White Right, and it’s pretty damn absorbing.

Taking Christolbel’s already haunting vocal, Figure Of 8 crafts a moody and enigmatic tune. Powered by a solid House beat and some deft Acid riffing, the vibe of the track allows Figure Of 8 to play around with some quite evocative sounds. From the brooding electric piano to the Industrial purcussion, it really feels like a musical narrative; there’s so much going on and with so much feeling. Atmospheric vocal House at it’s finest.

[Audio] Ronika reMixes The Penelopes’ ‘Time To Shine’

the-penelopes_thumb

London based French duo The Penelopes recent single Time To Shine, a record that we called “Massive” with all it’s moody bombast and stadium ElectroPop leaning, is about to get a bit Massive-er. Fresh from releasing one of the greatest albums of all time, Boogie juggernaut Ronika has contributed to the Time to Shine reMix package with this timeless House mix.

Chicago meets Acid meets Rave in this highly kinetic four and a half minutes. Ronika really keeps the energy going with undulating purcussion and a plethora of classic sounds. At it’s hart a Piano House tune, Ronika brings a load of early 90s elements to the, from the Rave keys to the use of the vocals as samples. This should really be played extremely loud in a field full of revellers, but through your headphones on a sunny day it’ll put just as big a grin on your face.

[Audio] Croquet Club’s ‘Breathe’ & ‘Rush’

Croquet Club

Out this week on Anjunadeep is the new EP from Croquet Club. After wowing with his début release, Awake/Cardigan (that went on to become an Anjunadeep classic), French producer Jeremy Villecourt is delivering three tracks in the form of the Jacuzzi EP. Of the three tunes involved, it’s hard for us to pick between Breathe and Rush, two storming tunes, so have a listen to both.

Breathe serves up a platter of deep and airy sounds mixed with a laid back ElectroPop feel. Layering ominous tone over haunting vocals Croquet Club keep things enigmatic without ever crossing over into actually being moody or dark. This is achieved by washing this tapestry of rumbling basses and dreamlike keys over a seriously compelling poolside House groove and some cheeky Tropical guitar. Taking cues from the likes of French legends Air, Croquet Club brings that spacious hazy sound to the dancefloor. Rush contrasts Breathe by swinging with full force toward the ElectroPop and Pop-House end of the electronic music spectrum with huge, sweeping, big room sounds, lush stings and a radio friendly Piano led sound. Perfect summertime listening, Rush is feel-good House at it’s finest. there’ll be something for everyone on this EP.

[Audio] Lemonade’s ‘Stepping’

Lemonade

The latest addition to the ecclectic Cascine stable comes in the form of Brooklyn based trio Lemonade. Two years on from the release of their last record, Diver, these guys are set to release their third album; to be titled Minus Tide, in September. Before then you can have a taste of what to expect from Lemonade in the form of Stepping. A quick search on Discogs.com revels that there is indeed an artist called ‘Vodka’, we smell a collaboration coming on, we’d like a taste of that too!

The track combines the rugged and the sweet, with cascading rhythms that hit almost a tribal point with their undulating kicks, contrasting with airy pads and distant, gentle, vocals. Taking reference points of everything from 90s House to 80s soundtrack material, Stepping feels like a chaotic affair, but it’s really not. There’s order to the madness and some incredibly catchy hooks set adrift on a sea of nostalgic keys and Acidic burbling. It should be a vey interesting album.
