[Audio] Zimmer’s ‘Escape’

Zimmer

In the mood for some self-styled Horizontal Disco? Well have no fear because Mr. Horizontal Disco himself, Parisian producer and DJ Zimmer, is back with a brand new tune. Enlisting the help of Norwegian vocalist Emilie Adams, Zimmer has unleashed Escape. Escape is the first track to be taken from his forthcoming EP, Coming Of Age, due out next month via Roché Music. Give it a listen below.

Taking a pinch of Tropical, a hint of Chicago and just a dash of UK Deep, Zimmer serves up one of his trademark beautiful and laid back poolside dancefloor tunes. Escape is loaded with Island riff and a resounding piano hook. Playing out over rooms drums and a percussive bassline Adams’ raspy vocals are neatly interspersed with half heard Sax. This is smokey House music for urban late nights. Summer in the city is here.

Coming from her new album, Hairless Toys, Evil Eyes is the new single from Avant-DiscoPop siren Róisín Murphy. Accompanying the single is this suitably left-field video for the track.

Murphy appears both in front of, and behind, the camera in this clip, a darkly humorous descent into suburban madness.

[Audio] Aeroplane reMixes BANKS’ ‘Beggin’ For Thread’

banks

One of our prized pick-ups from this year’s Record Store Day was the second reMix 12” from L.A. Future R&B experimentalist BANKS. The reMixes Part 2 release featured two version of her most often reMixed track Beggin’ For Thread; one of which came straight from Belgian Disco maestro Aeroplane. Vito De Luca’s mix has just hit the digital world on his SoundCloud page, so if you didn’t manage to get hold of the record you can wrap your Internet ears around it right now.

You know where you are with an Aeroplane reMix. Vito consistently delivers quality like a brand name you can trust. Cleanly produced Disco and House, bright and shiny, with Pop sensibilities that what Aeroplane stands for and on this reMix he flips BANKS’ enigmatic presence into a bouncy DiscoPop existence, her smoky vocals taking on a new upbeat quality among Aeroplane’s buoyant bass and lush pads.

[Audio] Auxiliary Tha Masterfader’s ‘Disco Machine’

auxiliary-tha-masterfader

Last week we premièred the AIMES reMix of the new single from Dutch groover Auxiliary Tha Masterfader, Disco Machine. Alongside AIMES, RipTidE and BroKen DJs step up to the plate for reMix duties, but right here, right now, we’re going to take a listen to Aux’s boogiefied original. The single is out right flippin’ now via Brixton’s Nude Disco imprint, but before heading on over to pick up a copy check out Disco Machine in all it’s Extended Mix glory.

Aux breaks out the vintage galactic Funk for this one. Disco Machine revels in it’s Italo and Boogie DNA; it’s undulating bassline laying down solid ebb-and-flow foundations for all manner of synthesizer noodling gentle vocoding. Sounding authentically like an early 80s European dancefloor hit, Disco Machine sets up all the genre’s tropes for Aux to give them his own person spin. Synthesizer gold.

[Audio] Patchy’s ‘Wild 1’

Patchy

Two years on from her début album, Illuminators, London based ElectroPop songstress Patchy is still releasing some of the most interesting SynthPop in the capital. She’s just served up this brand new tune, titled Wild 1, on her SoundCloud page. We hope the weather’s good where you are, this is one tune that deserves sunshine and good times.

Wild 1 hits the ground running with some magnificent lush chords that glide into Patchy’s voice, full of personality. Played out over a surprisingly gentle beat, layered with shuffling hats and reverb drenched claps, Wild 1 weaves a rich tapestry of ringing synths and growling tones. Patchy’s introspective performance ties the track together with a deeply personal mood. We’re hoping there’s lots more coming from Patchy.

[Audio] Little Boots’ ‘Working Girl’

Little Boots

Oh yeah. Little Boots, along with opening up the pre-orders for the vinyl of her eagerly anticipated third album, Working Girl, has dropped the records title track. Working Girl (the track) follows on from Better In the Morning to build up a picture of how this new full lengther will sound, and come across conceptually. Utilizing a slick mid-80s yuppie aesthetic to convey the empowerment of being her own boss (Working Girl comes out on Little Boots’ own On Repeat imprint) and her experience of the industry. It sounds like personal and insightful stuff, and it doesn’t hurt that it’s funky as hell.

Co-written with On Repeat artist Tom Aspaul and Grades, Working Girl show off a deeper groove that it’s predecessor. Easing you in with a silky smooth, undulating, hook and Victoria’s hushed vocals Working Girl soon escalates into a sublime mixture of UK Deep House and DiscoPop, cherry-picking the best of both. In fact, Working Girl feels like distilled Little Boots, encompassing everything we’ve grown to love about here over the past decade. Those hazy, yet catchy vocals, those warm club tones, that slightly left-field approach to a storming Pop tune. We can’t wait for the album.

Leo Kalyan

London based Future R&B noodler Leo Kalyan is gearing up for the release of his début proper EP later this month. After a string of well received singles and the Stranger mixtape Leo is ready for his première label release on Believe Records, to be titled Silver Linings. Both Annie Mac and Mista Jam have supported his tunes on Radio1 as we are sure they will this new one. It’s called Fingertips; check it out.

Kalyan weaves a laid back, almost Tropical, breezyness into his sound on Fingertips. An emotional rush of hazy synths and springy, rolling R&B beats which Kalyan makes his own with this typical heartfelt croon. A woozy groove with a big rush of a chorus, Fingertips is a sweet teaser for the forthcoming EP.

[Audio] TVÅ’s ‘Always Be’

CSCN, Casine’s singles label, is going from strength to strength. It’s a really good idea for a sub label; keeping the artist development with Cascine and letting CSCN just be a celebration of songs that they love. This time it’s Swedish duo TVÅ who get some CSCN love. Their single, Always Be (backed with Keep Me A Secret) gets a single release. Prepare for some ScandiPop goodness.

This brother and sister pairing have come up with a couple of beautiful and lush SynthPop tunes. Always Be is a glistening, gentle array of tundra synths. Turning icy elements into a warm and inviting whole, TVÅ deliver a tune that swirls around you and wraps you in it;s emotional depths. Incredibly understated, Always Be incorporates sparse drums and distant keys into a track that sounds full as the biggest production. Sublime stuff.
