Florrie drops début EP

Bristol born Xenomania go-to girl Florrie dropped her début EP yesterday, both on iTunes and absolutely free on her website.

The ‘Introducing’ EP does just that. As a collection of four tracks, some we’ve heard before, some new, it’s a pretty good example of Florrie’s sound and where she seems to be going.

One of the new tracks on the EP is ‘Left Too Late’ which is, frankly, pretty amazing. It’s got everything you want in electronically produced Pop. Coming from the Xenomania camp you expect a certain level of quality Pop, but this is all Florrie’s work and is pretty stunning for a début, and a début without a label too. Having already turned down quite a few major label offered in favour of self-development I’m sure she’s going to be in a position to negotiate the perfect deal in the coming months.

Florrie – Left Too Late

If you like the tracks I strongly suggest throwing Florrie a few bucks and buying the EP, she’s gotta’ eat after all!

Hear The Human League’s new single, ‘Night People’

The Human League recently débuted their forthcoming new single ‘Night People’ at a live show in Berlin and luckily it was captured by audience members with cameraphones.

Taken from the album ‘Credo’, set for release in March 2011, the ‘Night People’ single will come with reMixes from Mylo, The Emperor Machine and Villa.

It’s not possible to fully judge the new single from this footage, but it does give a clue as to what we can expect.

I’m thinking there is a bit of a ‘Sound Of The Crowd’ vibe going on here. We’re defiantly looking forward to this release, and catching The League live next month.

Friends Electric’s new single reworked by The Dirty Tees

I caught Welsh Indie-Electro-Poppers Friends Electric recently with Fenech-Soler and Substatic, it’s an experience I can highly recommend, the guys were awesome live.

We’ve already dropped their forthcoming new single, ‘Golden Blood’, so how about a reMix by Canadians The Dirty Tees? I think ‘banger’ is the term used… Seriously, The Dirty Tees pull no punches and turn in a full on Electro-House monster only slightly tamed with some sweet strings.

The ‘Golden Blood’ single is out 29th November.

The Twelves reMix up Munk, right nice!

You gotta’ love a good old fashioned, salt-of-the-earth The Twelves reMix! It’s something you can rely on to be absolutely banging.

Munk is the subject of this latest rework, and his forthcoming new single ‘Violent Love’ (taken from his awesome ‘Mondo Vagabondo’ EP). The Twelves layer their Nu-Disco on thick, with a laidback, but dancey, groove with hints of dub and dancehall in the production and a slight 90’s house piano feel. It’s a full on combination but one that works so well you can’t help but move to it!

eRNEST & AMz Vs. Le Rev

I have to admit, I have no idea who guitar-alt-pop duo Le Rev are but apparently they are quite sought after as songwriters having worked with the likes of Ladytron and Deadmau5.

When this reMix of their track ‘Lucky You’ by eRNEST & AMz landed in the electronic rumors inbox it really made me take notice though. Its a full on, straight to the dancefloor, ElectroPop number. C.C. Sheffield’s sultry rock vocals lend themselves amazingly well to the Electro-House-ish backing making for a compelling combination.

‘Lucky You’ is taken from the album ‘Tales Of Running Away’, out now.

Holy Ghost! reMix Mark Ronson & Boy George

I’ve got a bit of a love/hate relationship with Mark Ronson (And The Business INTL)’s new album ‘Record Collection’. Some of the tracks on there are amazing, ‘Band Bang Bang’ is one of my favourite songs of the year, but some of it is a bit dreary.

Anyway, the third single from the album is the Boy George featuring ‘Somebody To Love Me’ and Team Ronson have made the excellent decision to get super cool fellow NYC residents Holy Ghost! to reMix the track. They bring with them their unique brand of analog DIY Disco turning the track into a gritty discoball epic. Let the Garage Disco roll!

You Love Her Coz She’s Dead; new album and single

How controversial would it be if I said I thought You Love Her Coz She’s Dead were actually better than Crystal Castles? (although not as good as Heartsrevolution). I wonder if that’s the kind of thing I’m likely to say? I mean, the last CC album was a defiant maturing of their sound and showed a real progression in their productions, but sometimes I just think there is more actual fun to be had with YLHCSD. Whatever, the world is better off with both bands in existence.

So, the news from the YLHCSD camp is the release of their début, self titled, full length album will be released this coming valentine’s day (as in 2011…2010 has flown by!) preceded by two singles. The first at the end of this month will be ‘Sunday Best’, which is YLHCSD at their most arcade chaotic, yet poppy, best. An 8-bit assault on the senses which strikes you like a wall of noise but actually has a hook that leaves you humming.

‘Sunday Best’ is released 29th November.

Barretso reMixes Gemini Club’s ‘Ghost’

We can’t seem to get enough of Gemini Club’s ‘Ghost’ right now. It’s such a sweet tune and the reMixes to date have been so good it’s hard to choose between them.

Enter Chilean electronic rumors staple Frankie Barretso, who has turned in a really cool, driving reMix. This is arpeggio fuelled powerhouse Disco with some euphoria inducing keys in the chorus. Still couldn’t choose my favourite reMix, but this one is defiantly at the top (probably a toss-up between this and Hey Champ!’s) .

Robots With Rayguns – In Your Arms

Lucas Patrick Smith A.K.A. Robots With Rayguns always makes me take notice when he drops a new track, he’s been steadily releasing some of the best 80’s influenced dance music and reMixes around over the past couple of years but despite a few blog column inches seems to have missed out on some of the big hype he deserves.

His latest tune, ‘In Your Arms’ is a three and a half minutes of perfect feel good retro Dreamwave dance pop with a spot-on manipulated vocal sample and a rockin’ distorted synth wailing throughout.

♫ Robots With Rayguns – In Your Arms

I would honestly love to hear a full length album from RwR. I reckon, given 10 or more tracks in which to breathe, Lucas could pull of a masterpiece!
