Short Circuit’s ‘After Burner’

Short Circuit

The king of RoboPop™, Short Circuit, has just dropped a brand new free single.

‘After Burner’ is a companion peice, an epilogue to his ‘Late Night Drive’ EP and comes complete with three minute intro. After the intro slowly builds, layering lush synth sounds and building anticipation with a sense of urgency, the track proper feels as much a spiritual successor to ‘Let Go’ as it does to the ‘Late Night Drive’ EP. This is one of Short Circuit’s slickest productions to date, everything sits together nicely, the combination of growling bassline, 16-bit melodies and melodic vocoded vocals all achieving the right balance. ‘After Burner’ strikes a nice balance between the aggressive the romantic in it’s sound, which leads to a Poppy, catchy track with a underlying edge and drive.

Justin Faust reMixed by PWNDTIAC

justinfaust

Justin Faust is celebrating a hugely successful couple of months of his latest release, the ‘Girl Talk’ EP, being out in the world and loved by all with a free reMix of the lead track by the awesomely named PWNDTIAC .

But it’s not just the name that’s cool about this guy, he’s turned in an amazingly slick, funky and fun mix of Faust’s track. Big ‘80’s drums with a digital funk bassline keep it solid for the huge retro chords and squelchy melody to work their magic. This is well on it’s way to become my favourite of the mixes, it hits all the right spots for a late night nostalgia jam. PWNDTIAC has just released his début EP on Work It Baby, this guy’s gonna’ go far in the Dreamwave/Nu-Disco world.

Check out the first two demos from stardate the latest project from the mind that brought you 80s Stallone. His mission to give him self some freedom defined only by the use of hardware synths.

I don’t know if he’ll thank me for posting these demos, and EP is on the way but these are his first experimentations within his new parameters, but I couldn’t help myself, as a fan of electronic music these two tracks were too good to pass by. ‘Universal Pilot’ is at once ominous and uplifting, with these two roles being taken by the bass/pads and the melody, and it’s the capturing of these two moods that gives the track it’s cinematic feel. Heavy synth bass and arpeggios opposing, but working together in a Jarre-esque mid-paced peice. ‘Untill You Die’ walks a similar road but with more of a resolution to it, this is end of the movie stuff with a hint of guitar creeping in amongst the electronics and a bit of a sunrise feel.

Goldroom reMixes Gigamesh

gigamesh2

I’ve been dying to post this for a couple of weeks and now I finally can. Here’s Goldroom‘s masterful reMix of Gigamesh’s ‘Red Light’.

Premiered on The Magicians’ ‘Magic Tape Sixteen’ , Josh Legg’s reMix can only be described as ‘a treat for the ears’. This track is the aural equivalent of sitting on a rooftop, overlooking the city, watching the sun go down, an end to the day and the slow beginnings of the night. I would have said ‘sitting on a beach’ but there is something slightly urban about the track, I think it’s the rolling ‘80’s bass gives it a hot city nights feel while the dreamy synth work bring to mind that point at dusk when anything is possible. We’ve really dug all of Josh’s  Goldroom work so far, but he has really nailed it this time!

Noir Deco & MPM Soundtracks

Noir Deco

‘Future To Fantasy’ is the title of Newcastle SynthWave Producer Noir Deco new album, due out this week. Here’s a taste of what’s to come with a track featuring the awesome MPM Soundtracks.

‘Journeys’ is exactly that, a sonic exploration of rain soaked, neon lit, futuristic metropolis backstreets. With a hint of Italo about it, that keeps the energy up, the track is a masterful peice of soundtrack work. A synthesizer odyssey that leads you through the darkness, into the blinding artificial light as it sweeps from mood to mod. Can’t wait for the album!

Com Truise’s ‘She Melts’

Com Truise

Here’s a slice of synthetic romance Com Truise has just released from his archives.

‘She Melts’ is an LA-style neo-Funk infused Dreamwave jam from the New Jersey synthesizer master. All fat bassline on bright leads, with a glitchy quality to the layers of synths, Mr. Truise shows one again why he is the kind of this style.

Lazerhawk’s ‘Arise’

Lazerhawk

Some spooky SynthWave now with Lazerhawk’s contribution to todays festivities.

‘Arise’ whips a John Carpenter-esque melody into an Electro frenzy of stomping beats and ominous synths. Building an air of tension throughout the track with piercing lead line that layer on top of each other at a relentless pace, this track is the audio equivalent of being chased by cyborg zombies from the ‘80’s!

Lazerhawk – Arise

Lazerhawk’s new EP is out soon also featuring reMixes from Miami Nights 1984 and Mitch Murder.

Short Circuit’s ‘Visitors’

shortcircuit1

LA Dreamwave innovator Short Circuit is here to send shivers down your spine with a track full of dread.

Opening with the synthesizer equivalent of nails on a chalkboard, ‘Visitors’ assaults your senses on three fronts, growing electronics and spooky melodies and banshee lead lines. Amongst all the chills, though, is a damn cool track, the shuffling percussion in particular lends the track an ‘80’s funk.
