It’s been exactly one year since we last featured a track from SynthWave pioneer Powerglove. That dude sure loves Halloween! Then again, his track do tend to have a sinister undertone, all ominous synths and brooding beats. Greek retro-Popper Kristine has enlisted him, along with Mitch Murder and Barretso to reMix her forthcoming new single, Modern Love.
The original has been knocking around for a while now, it’s a really compelling slick of 80s synth rock. Sounding like a track rejected from the first Ladyhawke album for being too retro cool, Kristine’s husky vocal is perfectly period against the bracing synth lines and rolling bass. Powerglove takes this shimmering, and confortable, track and give it a spooky edge. Laced with John Carpenter synths and Kavinsky a style chainsaw power riffs, Powerglove’s reMix is a truly epic slice of SynthWave. Dark, gritty, majestic. Electronic horror at it’s finest.

Never one to miss out on the opportunity some ‘80’s straight-to-video horror theme Electro Powerglove enters the party, bringing with him a slice of creepy cool SynthWave.
‘Crypt’ drops some unsettling baroque elements over pumping sidechained Electro, the a hypnotic and otherworldly harpsichord refrain setting the scene for all manner of synthesizer horror. And when the sweeping retro synths kick in, you know you’re not getting out alive!
There’s a moment in the Grindhouse movie Hobo With A Shotgun that introduces the badassery of two armoured demons/cyborgs know as The Plague. This murderous slaughter scene is soundtracked by a Powerglove track called ‘Hunters’.
‘Hunters’ has never been released (although the whole track is on one of the DVD extras for the movie) so Powerglove’s peer Lazerhawk has released his own version of the track into the wild. Lazerhawk’s take on ‘Hunters’ is just as intense as the original. Total John Carpenter-esque 80’s synth movie music with a dancefloor twist. Driving and powerful with a hint of horror, the digital bass and icy lead lines will keep you captivated.
