New material from The Knife!

We’ve been keeping an eye on SoundCloud all morning since they announced on their Twitter feed that The Knife would be débuting new material via their service sometime this week, and here it is.

The Swedish Experimental ElectroPoppers were commissioned by Danish performance group Hotel Pro Forma to compose the music for an opera based on Charles Darwin and his work ‘On The Origin Of Species’ and in a The Knife first they decided to collaborate with artists Mt. Sims and Planningtorock to “to capture the huge width of the Darwin and evolution theme”

‘Colouring Of Pigeons’ is a strange and intoxicating beast, undeniably The Knife (especially when Karin’s trademark vocals kick in) but the operatic feel to it gives it a life all of it’s own. Give it a few listens, it gets under your skin (in the best of ways), which, I suppose, makes it classic The Knife!

The studio version of the opera, ‘Tomorrow, In A Year’ will be released on Rabid Records on1st March.

New Danger track!

Kicking off with spooky (yet X-Massy!) chimes before dropping a huge synth bass this new Danger tune that surfaced on Seek Sick Sound builds into an immense cinematic banger.

Not sure where the tune is from, fingers crossed it’s from a forthcoming new EP! Wherever it originates, it’s a welcome return from Danger:

Not too sure if that is a rip of the whole track?

Some CHEW LiPS to tide you over

I honestly don’t think I can wait any more! CHEW LiPS’ début album, ‘Unicorn’, drops in a mere matter of days now!

I know you all feel the same, so to tide you over here is a brand new reMix of CL’s forthcoming single ‘Play Together’ by London’s DJ Jocks which completely changes the song, giving it a early 90’s disco flavour. The FM arpeggiated bassline makes me think of the Arthur Baker reMix of Pet Shop Boys’ ‘In The Night’ (from The Clothes Show!)

‘Unicorn’ can be pre-ordered from CHEW LiPS’ store here.

Ali Love Harder

Ali Love was rockin’ us all in the last three months of 2009 with the single ‘Diminishing Returns’ and some huge reMixes of his track ‘Smoke & Mirrors’, now he’s back with this tune, ‘Love Harder’, which will be the next single out on Back Yard Recordings.

‘Love Harder’ is more minimal, Italo influenced ElectroPop with some sweet 80’s-esq vocals and nice Simmonds fills. Gonna’ be real interesting to hear the album when it hit the streets.

‘Love Harder’ drops soon and ‘Diminishing Returns’ is available now:

Alphabeat’s new single reMixed

Scandinavian Wonky Popsters Alphabeat’s second studio album ‘The Spell’ hits stores on 1st March, just ahead of that they are paving the way with the single ‘Hole In My Heart’ on 22nd February.

‘Hole In My Heat’ is a slice of huge, pure Pop, genius and comes with a sweet array of reMixes.

Most notable, fellow Scandinavian’s The Sound Of Arrows, who are currently making waves amongst ElectroPop fans with their single ‘Into The Clouds’, turn their Dreamwave tinged Electro goodness on Anders and Stine’s vocals to create an instant classic Disco flavoured ElectroPop track.

Elsewhere, Wideboys create a big, radio friendly, dance tune, completely the opposite of Chew Fu’s broken beats, warp bass and Disco stabs.

She Is Danger’s début EP

We’ve already featured their remix of Ellie Goulding’s ‘Under The Sheets’, so with the forthcoming release of their début EP we though it was time we devoted some words to She Is Danger. The London duo of Lena Cullen and Maya Jane Coles, already impressing with their reMix skills, are about to drop some monster Dubstep of their own.

‘Hurt You’, with it’s dual female vocals and almost Garage beat, is a pretty unique take on Dubstep. they’ve been compared to Portishead, a lot, but I see more Kosheen in them, especially in some of the vocals. they’re like Kosheen run through a Dub bass machine!

♫ She Is Danger – Hurt You (Radio Edit) (zShare) (MediaFire)

And check their wonderfully Dubby reMix of Kitsuné’s tune of the moment, Crystal Fighters’ ‘I Love London’:

‘Hurt You’ is dropping on Beatport very soon, keep it locked to She Is Danger’s MySpace:

electronic rumors’ top 20 songs of 2009!!!

Insanity! Compiling a top twenty tracks of 2009 was infinitely harder than the album list, I have no idea how it got finished! Once again, there was so much good music released in 2009, it truly was a wicked year to be into electronic music, just look at that top ten! From established acts like Røyksopp to bands who made 2009 their own such as Filthy Dukes, La Roux and Little Boots to bands that are going to blow up in 2010 like CHEW LiPS and The Vanish, the music we’ve been given in 2009 has set the bar so high for the coming year.

I wish there were more slots, I could have easily made it a top 40 or 50, and like the album list I have probably forgotten some gem I was rockin’ to in January and I’ll probably want to reorder in a few hours. But right now, here’s the list. Many, many thanks to all the artists that provided our soundtrack to 2009 and all the artists featured on electronic rumors, without you this past year would have been a depressing, gray mess!
