[Video] Viceroy & Chela’s ‘Dream Of Bombay’

Here’s the official video for San Francisco funkmeister Viceroy and Dreamwave songstress Chela’s frankly amazing new single, Dream Of Bombay. This breezy slice of feel-good Dreamwave has been on repeated round these parts for a while now, and the video is so cool.

Josh Harris directs the clip, capturing the perfect nostalgic vibe, while Chela exudes effortless 80s cool.

[MP3] Clancy’s ‘How To Hold On To You’

Clancy

The one and only Clancy’s back in the production hot seat with a brand new track. We always tend to love it when this dude drops a new track, and so far he hasn’t disappointed. His new tune, How To Hold On To You, can be added to the ‘hasn’t disappointed yet’ pile.

How To Hold On To You continues on Clancy journey from Dreamwave hero, to Nu-Disco groover, to House jackmaster. This one’s all about pulsating deep basses, infectious piano riffs and snatches of diva vocals. Soundtracking a late 80s Chicago warehouse, How To Hold On To You, rises and falls with swells of emotion as to hooks you in and keeps you entranced until the end. It’s track like this that make us glad the Chicago House sound came back.

[Video] Karl Bartos’ ‘Atomium’

Karftwerkian legend Karl Bartos’s first single from his new album Off The Record, is finally here. Strap yourself in for some icy snyths and robotic vocals.

The video is, possible deliberately, really early 90s EBM. All inverted colours and cheap video effects. Probably quite fitting.

Karl Bartos’ Atomium is released 1st February. Off the Record is released in March.

[MP3] Lindstrøm reMixes Grizzly Bear

Grizzly Bear

Well, it was probably only a matter of time. After the kind of hype that Norwegian cosmic Disco legend Lindstrøm received toward the end of 2012, we knew sooner or later the cool Pitchfork crown would come knocking on his door. Oh look, here’s a Lindstrøm reMix of the new Grizzly Bear single, Gun Shy. That was quick.

It’s actually a pretty amazing track. It’s hypnotic space-age Disco track with all the tundral charm that we love Lindstrøm for. The mans knack for making icy, piercing synths feel warm and comforting is second to none, and he really knows how to rock an infectious hook. This has the potential to be one of the biggest tracks of the summer, expect to hear this a lot on your local indie dancefloor. Indie flavoured Cosmic Disco at it’s finest.

[Video] Goin’ Old School: Cabaret Voltaire and Afrika Bambaataa & Soul Sonic Force

Goin’ Old School isn’t a trip down music memory lane, it’s a mugging in the dark alleyway of nostalgia:

Two of our favourite tracks this week, starting with the mighty Cabaret Voltaire and 1983’s Just Fascination.

And Renegades Of Funk!, also from 1983, one of Afrika Bambaataa & Soul Sonic Force best.

[Audio] Ryan Riot reMixes Two Door Cinema Club

Two Door Cinema Club

World dominating IndiePoppers Two Door Cinema Club are starting to sound a little samey if you ask us. There’s only so many combinations of frantic off-beat hi-hats, syncopated riffs, and summery leads. just take the track Handshake, for their last album, Beacon. It sounds like a Two Door Cinema Club song, like someone’s worked out a formula for that. At least we can count on the likes of Swiss Dreamwaver Ryan Riot to spruce things up a little.

Ryan does the job properly, adding a bouncy synth bassline and some kicking dance drums. Most of the original song is still there kicking about, but Riot elevated the track to new, exiting places with a few well-placed dance music tropes. On the whole it’s a decided improvement on the track, which becomes an exciting Indie-Electro floorfiller in Ryan Riot’s hands.

[MP3] Touch Tone reMixes Goldroom

Here’s the recent NightWaves single reMixed by Short Circuit. Wait. Sorry. Flashback. What I meant to say is here’s the recent Goldroom single reMixes by Touch Tone. I do love it when the old Binary crew get together for tracks, makes me feel nostalgic before I’ve even pressed play, and I can always trust that pressing play will live up to my expectations.

No fear here, Touch Tone crafts the prefect breezy vibe for the track. Slightly Tropical, the track flows like water, the dreamy vocals curling in and out of Touch Tone’s laid-back Disco like smoke. Built on a French-Disco-esque piano riff, the reMix takes it time to deliver soul shaking bass and a rolling beat over it’s relaxed five minute run. This is cruising music, a feel good tune that sweeps all your worries away.

[MP3] Lancelot’s ‘Higher Ground’

Lancelot

Fresh Australian producer Lancelot, who released the awesome We Can Dance last year on Binary, has just unexpectedly made his return with this lush, Housy Disco tune. The free download comes after  quite a period of relative quiet front he man, but that’s fine, we here are big believers in quality over quantity and think the current culture of having to release all the time is harmful for fans and producers alike. right here Lancelot proves why it’s best to take your time and get it right, he definitely brings the quality.

Higher Ground mixes up deep House vibes with Tropical Disco feel, which makes for a euphoric, feel-good, but irresistibly dancey tune. Hypnotic, but funky the track wraps you in it’s arms and doesn’t let go until the dance is over. this is truly one to get lost in on the dancefloor. We’re hoping that 2013 is a year we will hear a lot more from Lancelot.

[Video] Tesla Boy’s ‘Another Light’

Here’s a cool video that Russian Dreamwave/ElectroPop champions Tesla Boy have put together for the B-side of their recent Split single, Another Light.

It’s 80s as hell, and so shiny that it hurts to watch, like staring at the sun.

[Audio] Jupiter reMix Yan Wagner

Yan Wagner

French producer Yan Wagner’s recent Forty Eight Hours album didn’t leave out MP3 player for very long in the latter half of 2012. A Housey, ElectroPop opus that deserved wider attention. Yesterday the single Changed from the album was released, and alongside reMixes from Arnaud Rebotini, The Hacker and Tristesse Contemporaine sits this version from one of our favourite ElectroPop duos, Jupiter.

Jupiter get busy with their playful DiscoPop style all over the track. Their now trademark bouncy bass is at the fore of the track, providing a rock solid, funky, bedrock for layers of spikey tones and cosmic synths to dance around the tracks four and a half minutes. A stark contrast to Wagner’s deadpan, Factory-esque style, this meeting of styles works infinitely better than it should, more power to Jupiter for pulling it off. By the time the reedy synth solo kicks in you can;t help but be totally hooked.
