Goin’ Old School: Paul Hardcastle – The Wizard

More Paul Hardcastle for you! 1986’s ‘The Wizard’ is three things. One; better, and funkier, than 19, two;  the new (I say new, it was back then anyway) theme to Top Of The Pops, and three; One of the best songs ever written.

Azari & III’s ‘Manic’ video

Azari & III’s single ‘Manic’ has not got a video.

This amazingly catchy, house single is just a precursor to their self-titled album, which promises to be a stormer.

‘Manic’ is out now with Azari & III’s album following 8th August.

Human Life’s ‘In It Together’ re-release

We have more Human Life for you today following on from their marathon mixtapes yesterday.

As you know by now their Housey ElectroPop anthem ‘In It Together’ is being re-released with new reMixes from Frankie Knuckles, The Shapeshifters & Louie Fresco. Hopefully this will be Human Life’s well deserved breakthrough track. Check the video, which you’ve seen before, but check it again anyway, it’s aged well.

To celebrate the release Human Life are giving you the hands-in-the-air ‘Uptown’ to keep, for your very own, in exchange for your solemn oath that you’ll nip off and purchase the single. I told them electronic rumors readers are peeps of their word. Don’t make me a liar.

Human Life – Uptown

‘In It Together’ was re-released yesterday at Beatport with everywhere else on the 8th.

The Twelves’ ‘Kitsuné Tabloid’

‘Kitsuné Tabloid By The Twelves’ is, unsurprisingly the new Tabloid artist mixtape from Kitsuné Music, it’s  (also unsurprisingly) been put together by The Twelves.

We’ve heard it, it’s pretty special.

Here is a 40 second video teaser, which is the most pointless thing in the world, but it’s all you’ve got for now. Don’t let the pointlessness of the video put you off getting excited for the album.

The Twelves’ ‘Kitsuné Tabloid’ album drops 29th August. Stay tuned.

Goin’ Old School: Japan – Quiet Life

In 1979 Japan may well have been the fist act to popularise the burbling arpeggio intro! This is ‘Quiet Life’ as performed on TOTP.

Scroobius Pip’s ‘Introduction’ video

Scroobius Pip, of dan le sac Vs. Scroobius Pip fame, has got to be my favourite MC working today.

This is his new solo single, once again, insightful lyrics, witty delivery, 90% of rappers in the world should take notice. Produced by Danny Lohner. Backing vocals by Mila Jovovich & Cameron Slade. Indeed!

‘Introduction’ comes from Pip’s upcoming solo records ‘Distraction Pieces’.

Toro Y Moi

Toro Y Moi’s new video, ‘How I Know’ is decidedly slapstick by Toro Y Moi standards.

Jordan Kin directed this clip which has gone a bit hipster Casper.

‘How I Know’ is the third single from ‘Underneath the Pine’.

Goin’ Old School: Doug E. Fresh & The Get Fresh Crew – The Show

Doug E. Fresh & The Get Fresh Crew doing ‘The Show’ on TOTP in 1985. Still a classic! how young does Slick Rick look?
