Desire

Are we in for another Italo summer this year? Sometimes I do wonder what a lot of these artists from the 2008 ‘wow Italo!’ explosion are doing now (we could really do with a new Heartbreak release!)

Italians Do It Better signees Desire are currently touring with Glass Candy right now so why don’t you check out three tracks from their 2009 album ‘II’ and then check Glass Candy’s MySpace for tour details.

The Canadian’s trio produced some of the best Italo inspired ElectroPop in the last few years, just the right combination of House, Disco and SynthPop with just the right amount of edgy darkness. They almost exclusively write love songs but despite making Disco songs about love they retain a slightly mournful twist to their tracks.

Foreign Office reMixed by Warrior One

London four piece Foreign Office’s début single, the Indie-Disco-Pop ditty ‘Leaving The House’ has been given an Italo influenced reMix by east end duo Warrior One.

Like a clash between Italo, ElectroPop and Bleep-House, Warrior One’s mix is all square waves and distorted claps. Pulsating basslines and an infectious melody make this a killer reMix. Check it:

Dan Le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip Get Better

I gotta’ say, Dan Le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip’s ‘Angels’ album is one of my ‘go to’ albums, y’know, when you can’t decide what to listen to, I normally head straight for ‘Angels’. Good music and intelligent witty lyrics, what more do you need?

The end of the month sees the duos second album ‘The Logic Of Chance’ released on Sunday Best and just ahead of it, out now, the single ‘Get Better’, which is surprisingly Italo sounding with a nice 8-bit lead line too. Villa provides one of the reMixes, all synths, cowbells and huge 80’s chords!

Ali Love Harder

Ali Love was rockin’ us all in the last three months of 2009 with the single ‘Diminishing Returns’ and some huge reMixes of his track ‘Smoke & Mirrors’, now he’s back with this tune, ‘Love Harder’, which will be the next single out on Back Yard Recordings.

‘Love Harder’ is more minimal, Italo influenced ElectroPop with some sweet 80’s-esq vocals and nice Simmonds fills. Gonna’ be real interesting to hear the album when it hit the streets.

Italo from Fare Soldi

It’s Italo time! Fare Soldi were featured on the compilation album ‘Italo School’ alongside the lieks of Crookers, Cecile, Scuola Furano, Blatta & Inesha and Pink is Punk.

Their track,’Tutto, Tutti, Sempre, Subito’, is an Acid laden, Italo, cowbell party with a sweet Disco flavoured mid-section.!

Heartbreak’s new EP

May 25th sees the release of Heartbreak’s latest offering. The ‘Deceit’ EP will contain three brand new tracks and three reMixes, two of ‘We’re Back’ by Vitalic and Romantix, and one of ‘Soul Transplant’ by Allez-Allez.

It’s defiantly one to look forward to, Heartbreak are just the right combination of SynthPop, Italo, Electro and Disco.
