Walter Sobcek – Je Me Souviens (+ NightWaves reMix)

Multi-national duo Walter Sobcek are releasing their début EP for Sismic Music this month and, frankly, it’s pretty awesome!

The title track ‘Je Me Souviens (Original ZHive reMix)’ is a strange combination of uplifting and melancholy, French and English, dancey and dreamy, with some almost baroque phrases that all adds up to a truly satisfying crescendo. It may have just missed the summer but this is pure strain summer haze ElectroPop.

Speaking of summer haze ElectroPop, LA’s kings of the scene NightWaves return the reMixing favour (Walter Sobcek reMixed their ‘Sweet Carrie’) with a smooth, chilled, driving reMix.

Yelle’s new single on Kitsuné

Parisian ElectroPop princess Yelle returns this October with a new single on Kitsuné Music.

Co-written, again, by GrandMarnier & tEPr and produced by Siriusmo, the track ‘La Musique’ is a nice slice of analog French Pop with a hypnotic bassline and leads which cut through the song. Lorenz Rhode’s reMix amps up the deep Disco into serious French-Touch territory with a killer ‘70’s Moog bassline.

French retro synth master Frederic Riviere A.K.A. Anoraak has finally dropped his début album, ‘Wherever The Sun Sets’, and it’s awesome.

Next month sees the release of Bag Raiders début full length album on Modular.

Lo-Fi-Fnk’s ‘Sleepless’ video

Lo-Fi-Fnk’s new single ‘Sleepless’ had it’s official video premiered today.

We dropped the track itself last month, which is available on 7”or digital from today, it’s a laidback ElectroPop groove that takes you back to the ‘90’s and the video, directed by Tomas Carlsten & Simon Svéd, had an appropriate late night insomniac quality to it.

‘Sleepless’ is released today on Moshi Moshi.

New Electric Youth!!!

What a way to start the weekend!!! Thanks to DiscoDust we have got a brand new track from the awesome Electric Youth!

EY have been quite for far too long, apparently holed up in the studio working on new material, as no-one quite does 80’s Pop like Electric Youth. ‘Right Back To You’ is pure genius, uplifting, retro ElectroPop with an amazing chorus hook.

Kimbra & Penguin Prison

Readers may remember Australian singer/songwriter Kimbra from her recent guest vocal appearance on Miami Horror’s ‘I Look To You’. Well, now she’s ready to drop her début single ‘Settle Down’.

I gotta’ say, I really like her voice, it’s got a touch of Jazz quirkiness and is reminiscant of Martina-Topely Bird or Annette Strean (Venus Hum). The single has been reMixed by New York’s finest, Penguin Prison, and Chris Glover’s BedroomPop in combination with Kimbra’s soulful vocals is an insanely winning combination, I’d REALLY like to hear more of Kimbra working with electronic music, I mean REALLY!

B-side video for The Good Natured

You know things are going well when even your B-sides have videos!

So, here is the video for the B-side of The Good Natured’s forthcoming single ‘Be My Animal’, a track called ‘Prisoner’.

Directed by Lorenzo Ricciarell the video explores aspects of transformation as TGN’s Sarah moves through an evolution, via make-up, from innocence to grotesquery while the song itself is Sarah’s effort to confront why some lovers have both emotional and physical power over us.

‘Be My Animal’ is released 1st November.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, but when I’m feeling listless and can’t decide what to listen to on my mp3 player more often than not I just chuck on Dan & Pip, I dig the electronics, the poetry, the delivery, the production. It’s all good.
