[Audio] Goldroom reMixes Ekkah’s ‘Last Chance To Dance’

Ekkah

Dreamwave originator and purveyor of all things nautical Disco Goldroom has treated us to a brand new reMix. He’s been a bit quiet recently, since ‘Till Sunrise, due to all the constant gigging and whatnot so it’s nice to hear some fresh music. The object of his talents this time is Brummie Rebekah/Rebecca themed duo Ekkah’s single of last year, Last Chance To Dance. Soak it up.

Goldroom immediately drops you in the middle of some island bliss with rolling percussion and delicate arpeggios before launching into dreamy beach House vibes. Ekkah’s vocals have a certain soulful quality and skippy Pop groove that lends themselves perfectly to Goldroom’s piano lead feel-good soundtrack. Can’t stop vibing to this.

[Audio] LACES’ ‘Love Me Sober’

Laces

LACES is the new moniker of Jessica Charlotte Poland. She previously went under the name of Charlotte Sometimes, not an artist we were previously aware of, apparently she’s been doing the singer/songwriter thing since 2008. She’s gonna a little more ElectroPop under this new alias and is about to release her début single, Love Me Sober.

Love Me Sober pairs Jessica’s introspective vocal style with huge, epic electronics and undulating rhythms. A lyrically acerbic tune, Love Me Sober counterpoints it’s moody content with and anthemic SynthPop sound. Big beats, big, chords and Jessica belting out a powerful lament . We’ll definitely be interested to hear more.

LACES’ Love Me Sober is released 16th March.

[Audio] Lo-Fi-Fnk’s ‘U Don’t Feel The Same’

Lo-Fi-Fnk

Swedish SynthPoppers Lo-Fi-Fnk have dropped another surprise new single. We weren’t even sure they were still active, but they recently announced their forthcoming new album, titled, Can You Feel It?, and here is the second single following November’s title track release. This one’s called U Don’t Feel The Same, high octane stuff.

The duo turned trio serve us a monstrously sizes slice of ScandiPop on this one. U Don’t Feel The Same is a sprawling ElectroPop that in it’s three and a half minutes length offers up breakbeats, Chillwave synths, cheeky little riffs, and introspective vocals all on one track. It’s a bit of a Frankenstein of electronic styles, but the pull it off with seemingly effortless ease. Loaded with Lo-Fi-Fnk’s unique brand of Swedish quirkiness, U Don’t Feel The Same is Indie-Electro excellence.

Sun Flares is taken from Let Em Riot’s new EP, Lines, which is released tomorrow. Just like The Manual and We Were Young it’s a deeply emotional slice of nostalgic ElectroPop brilliance.

[Audio] SLK’s ‘Hush’

SLK

We’re not big fans for inter-artist comparisons, but SLK is kinda’ like London’s answer to BANKS. Delivering a warm concoction of avant-garde Future R&B, combining experimental electronics with soulful vocals. Her new single, Hush, follows on from a critically acclaimed EP last year titled Form. Check it out below.

Hush starts out moody, and the gets moodier and moodier. Haunting beats and eerie, backtracked samples pair with subtle and ominous synths that forms a musical atmosphere for some particularly British sounding vocals. There’s a lot to like in here; if you’re into your Downtempo, or Future R&B, or experimental electronics, even a little Dub, SLK serves up an eclectic and involving tune right here.

[Audio] Booka Shade & Karin Park’s ‘Line Of Fire’

Karin Park

The utterly amazing Swedish/Norwegian SynthPop chanteuse Karin Park’s latest appearance comes from an unexpected collaboration with German Techno powerhouses Booka Shade.  Maybe now so unexpected though, as Booka Shade provided a reMix for her current single, Hurricane, so perhaps this is her returning the favour. The track itself, Line Of Fire, actually appeared on Booka Shade’s 2014 EP of the same name in it’s Club Mix form; check out the Vocal Mix, with added Ms. Park.

There may be a little backlash amongst diehard Booka Shade fans against the commerciality of Line Of Fire, but they can just crawl back under their rock of 90s Techno obscurity ‘cos this is one of Booka Shade’s finest moments. Against a deep and hypnotic Tech-House backing Ms. Park serves up one of her unique and passionate performances as punchy kicks, growling bass and metallic leads deliver a mesmerising and involving club anthem.

[Audio] Kate Boy’s ‘Higher’

Kate BOy

The best (in our opinion) live act around right now and Scandinavia’s top ElectroPop act at the moment, Kate Boy, have just released a new EP collecting all the track from their single’s to date.  Northern Lights, The Way We Are, Open Fire and Self Control are present and correct in all their epic SynthPop glory; alongside which we are treated to a new track. A long-time live favourite, this is the anthemic Higher.

Higher is always the nexus point of Kate Boy’s live set, part anthem, part manifesto; it’s the pivotal point the show revolves around. The perfect balance of melancholic music and euphoric, optimistic vocals; Kate Boy’s trademark juggernaut drums and powerful, rhythmic synths drive the track along, but this one is all about the vocals. Anyone who has seen them live will get chills, anyone who hasn’t will be looking forward to when they will be able to.
