[Download] Jupiter reMixes Concorde’s ‘Floating’

Concorde

You may remember Parisian outfit Concorde as the reMix artists on the opening track of fellow French artists Jupiter’s Juicy reMixes reMix album, tacking the track Oh I. Now the DiscoPop duo are returning the favour be delivering the booming version of Concorde’s new single, Floating There.

Eschewing the almost trademark shiny, mirrorball, DiscoPop stylings in favour of a trendy House sound, Jupiter bring it deep. After teasing us with a little quirky ElectroPop into, the tune soon launces into it’s Chicago inspired, strobe lit, core. 909 beats and punchy sine basses give the track that classic House vibe, whilst Jupiter get playful with the vocals a riffs that hint at their Disco origins. A surprising, and classic House tune from Jupiter.

[Download] Goldroom’s ‘Embrace’ reMixed by Awkoder

goldroom

With so many reMixes of  Goldroom’s excellent Embrace knocking about these days it’s pretty hard to make your stand out from the crowd. The best way to do this, we have realised from listening to dozens, it to truly make the song your own, you’re not going to out-chilled-Disco Goldroom so don’t bother, to make it different and unique. And that’s exactly what French SynthWaver Awkoder has done.

I’m not sure we can even call Awkoder a SynthWaver anymore, especially after this proto-Rave, slightly Deep House track. You can tell Awkoder comes from a retro background, there’s a whole heap of late 80s dance tropes going on, the melodic synth stabs really make the track, Pair them up with a deep digital bassline and a warehouse beat and you’ve got a new direction for Embrace. The reMix is loaded with vocal modulation too, making the original unrecognisable at times, how’s that for making it your own?

[Audio] Vince Clarke reMixes Blancmange’s ‘Living On The Ceiling’

Blancmange

It’s all go in the world of 80s SynthPop legends Blancmange right now. Irene & Mavis, their much lauded début EP from 1980 has been reissued by Minimal Wave records. The six tracks of classic British electronic experimentation, before the catchy Pop tunes, is out now. Alongside which Blancmange are about to head off on a UK tour playing their 1982 breakthrough album, Happy Families, in it’s entirety. Available exclusively on the tour (with a general release coming later) will be Happy Families Too…, a limited edition album set which includes updated recordings of the original songs and reMixes. One of those reMixes sees ElectroPop godfather Vince Clarke, of Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Erasure & The Assembly fame, reMixing Blancmange’s biggest hit, Living On The Ceiling. We’re proud to bring you the world exclusive premiere right here on electronic rumors.

A while back Vince Clarke tweeted about how much fun he was having with this reMix, and it sounds like it. Keeping the originals song structure intact (well, you would with such an instantly recognisable tune wouldn’t you), Vince beefs things up a bit with some pounding Techno, borderline EBM, drums and tough synth riffs. Dropping in the odd Acidic squelch here and there, Vince drives the energy levels up as the track heads toward an epic piano breakdown before launching back into it’s power synth finale. As a meeting of SynthPop pioneers, it definitely doesn’t disappoint.

[Audio] CJ Mirra’s ‘RGB Flowers’

CJ Mirra

CJ Mirra is the synthetic alter-ego if John Sampson, after earning critical acclaim in the Indie world, he’s now flexing his creative muscles with an array of electronic gadgetry. CJ Mirra creates eerie soundscapes, Sci-Fi soundtracks and emotionally resonant moods, all set to undulating and intricate rhythms. His début EP was released next month on Colour8 Records with RGB Flowers, it’s lead track, featuring partner-in-crime Ronika.

RBG Flowers is a pulsating opus that walks the line between futuristic, dystopian, soundtrack and deeply human lament. With rhythms built upon a combination of grinding machine beats and Tabla-esque purcussion, RGB Flowers lays down the juxtaposition of brutal, chainsaw bass and beautiful, Vangelis style synths to create a slightly edgy, slightly unsettling, but always intoxicating piece to take with you into the night. A vaguely recognisable Ronika delivers a performance that adds an extra personal quality to the track, but works more as an additional instrument on CJ Mirra’s sonic canvas than as the tunes focal point. Oh, and there’s a hazy sax solo, and sax makes everything better. The EP comes equipped with and instrumental version of RGB Flowers and the enigmatic and eerie dance beats of Soft Candles and is definitely one you should check out if you fancy a slice of intelligent and meticulously crafted electronica.

♫ CJ Mirra (Feat. Ronika) – RGB Flowers

CJ Mirra’s three track début EP, RBG Flowers, is released 4th November.

Little Boots Shake Music Video YouTube

It never really occurred to us that Little Boots’ first post-Hands single, Shake (nearly two years old now) never had a video. Well, better late than never, and now that the awesome Nocturnes album is out in the wild it makes sense to draw attention to one of it;s finest tracks.

The clip is part dance audition, part Robot Wars, and robots make anything at least 80% better.

[Download] Computer Magic’s ‘All I Ever Wanted’

Computer Magic

All I Ever Wanted is the new tune from the amazing Computer Magic. It may only be a demo, but quite frankly we eagerly lap up anything Brooklyn based synth wizard Danielle Johnson releases. Her last proper release was A Million Years, from earlier this year which still stands out as one of the year’s highlights. Hopefully this new tune is an indication that Danz is back in the studio working on a new album maybe?

Musically, All I Ever Wanted is the epitome of Computer Magic. Raw drum machine beats and vintage synths, complex arrangements sounding deceptively simple. A robotic onslaught made to conform to human beauty, constructed of 80s flavours in a contemporary Indie-Electro mixture. Danz give this latest tune a bit of a Rock ‘N’ Roll edge with an almost early 80s post-punk slant to the vocals, setting it apart from other Computer Magic tunes, but making it infectious listening.
