Frost

frost

Frost are a Norwegian duo who have come to our shores to ply their sweet ElectroPop wares.

Their new track, ‘The Wood’, is at once both warn and full of Scandinavian chill. Distant and cold synths soon give way to layers of comforting pads and and a smooth, understated female vocal. The romance in the vocals play nicely against the machine percussion to give the song a tension as well as a familiarity.

The Sanfernando Sound reMixes Kites

kites

The Sanfernando Sound is back on the mix, this time turning his attention to London Indie band Kites.

keeping up his trend of post-EBM-ish power Electro tracks this mix keeps it momentum going with deep digital bass and ominous chords. while not strictly dark, the track is pretty upbeat, there is a moody undercurrent which, when coupled with Matthew Phillips almost Gothy vocals, makes for a sound that wouldn’t have been out of place on a late ‘80’s New Beat compilation alongside Skinny Puppy and The Neon Judgement. Wrap that up in some contemporary ElectroPop/Dreamwave style production and you have a track that easily sets itself apart from it’s peers.

Justice reMix The Asteroids Galaxy Tour

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour

Is it Justice? Isn’t it justice? Who know’s? Well…everybody, it is Justice reMixing the new The Asteroids Galaxy Tour track.

I swear when Justice’s new album is released there will be people, with a physical copy in their hands, saying, “there’s no way this is Justice!”. Whist not a huge Justice banger, you can hear Gaspard & Xavier’s DNA running through this mix, especially on the bass. This is a funky little groover and I expect to find more than a couple of tracks like this on Justice’s new album.

Jowie Schulner’s ‘Emotions’

Boombar main man Jowie Schulner has dropped a new tune on SoundCloud, showing off his emotional side.

‘Emotions’ lives in the place where Dreamwave meets Jarre. Layers of synths conjure an atmospheric setting for the track and play out their story over a laid back mid-tempo beat. This is journey home music, reflection music, the bittersweet end to the movie. Jowie has a knack for bringing an intense musicality to retro synth music that shines through in this tune.

Ruben & Ra taken on ‘Street Dance’

I thought the title of London Disco duo Ruben & Ra’s new track was evocative of something very familiar, and I was right.

This new tune is their take on Break Machine’s classic ‘Street Dance’ (a bit of a favourite of mine!). Lifting the call-to-dance vocals and that instantly recognisable whistling lead line Ruben & Ra mix it up with a little Nu-Disco, a ‘90’s house organ bass and create a modern anthem.

Robots With Rayguns reMixes Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj

Robots With Rayguns is on a reMix roll this week, he’s now tackled Nicki Minaj’s ‘Super Bass’.

Now, i wouldn’t have though it before listening, but how this tune sounds actually makes a lot of sense. what do you get if you add a Robots With Rayguns track and a Nicki Minaj track? The answer is a Futurecop! track! Alright, so it’s not a Futurecop! track, but it shares a lot of DNA with much of Futurecop!’s amazing ‘It’s Forever, Kids!’ album. ‘80’s inspired ElectroPop with slick rapping over the top is Futurecop!’s forté and RWR takes that formula and runs with it with is new reMix. the resultant tune is poppy, funky and a lot of fun.

Masters Of The Radio’s début EP

masters of the radio

Cheshire SynthPop duo Masters Of The Radio are gearing up for the release of their début EP, ‘The Pleasure Age’, this week.

Featuring alongside tracks like ‘Easy Now’ and one of our favourites ‘The Last Feeling’, will be this track, ‘Close To You’. The new song is a moody slice of retro Electro with some Japan-esque vocals that I can see fitting in really well amongst their other tunes. ‘Close To You’ has an epic and cinematic quality to the slightly sombre ‘80’s inspired electronics which lend the track a nice feeling of drama.
