Cinnamon Chasers reMixed

Cinnamon Chasers

We’re really not used to Cinnamon Chasers sounding as raw as they do on this reMix of ‘Cuts Like Fire’ by Vasili Gavre.

The original, taken from CC’s second full length SynthWave/ElectroPop masterpiece ‘Science’ , was already one of the more live sounding tracks on the album but retained that Cinnamon Casers smoothness, Gavre takes that liveness and runs with it crafting an energetic, rough-as-you-like- slice of ElectroPop full of Rock drums and chainsaw synths. Kinda’ reminds me a bit of the tracks Guns ‘N’ Bombs were doing a few years ago.

Strangers’ ‘Promises’ video (& Curxes reMix)

We featured Strangers new EP a couple of weeks ago, now we can update with some visuals in the form of the new video for the EP’s lead track, ‘Promises’.

It’s just the kind of stylish I would expect from these guys.

Another act we featured this month is Curxes, who add their industrial influenced moody ElectroPop flavour to the track in their reMix.

Strangers’ ‘EP’3’ is out 28th November.

LIGHTS reMixed by Snapd

lights

London based producer of ElectroPop reMixes Snapd has turned his hand to the amazing LIGHTS’ latest single ‘Toes’.

‘Toes’ was always ripe for reMixing, it’s got a spine tingling rousing chorus and a chord progression that is soaring with a hint of melancholy, perfect for stretching out into a epic that people loosing themselves in on the dancefloor. That’s exactly what Snapd has done, at seven minutes his Extended Version keeps just enough melody evolving to retain emotional investment until he drops the song proper for the second half. Great stuff!

LIGHTS second album ‘Siberia’, from which ‘Toes’ is taken, is out now.

Penguin Prison’s ‘Don’t Fuck With My Money’ video

Here’s the video for Penguin Prison awesome current single ‘Don’t Fuck With My Money’.

As you can tell it was filmed amongst Occupy Wall Street, not too sure whether this falls under show of solidarity or cheap cash-in, make me a little uncomfortable. Still, you can’t knock the song, the song is amazing.

‘Don’t Fuck With My Money’ is out now.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs’ ‘Dream On’

teed

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs continues to be one of the most innovative and interesting artists working in ElectroPop today.

His brand new track, ‘Dream On’ mixes up some deep digital late ‘80’s Chicago House elements against TEED’s trademark gentle vocals. The bassy staccato groove has got a real retro flavour and makes for a nice contrast to higher layer of chimes and distant singing. The track works just as well on both these terms, the Warehouse vibe for your feet and the emotive song for your mind.

Royalty

London based synth Funk duo Royalty are gearing up for the release of their sophomore EP, ‘Purple Nights’.

Their heavy beats and and growling groovy basslines immediately bring to mind comparisons to the kind of Nu-Funk brought to us by the likes of DâM-FunK. But rather that sun kissed LA vibes, there is a London grit to this duo’s sound, and urban Funk for those parting in the concrete jungle. Thick retro synth sounds are the order of the day here, pulsating basses, twinkling melodies and reedy pads create something that is a musical journey, at times for hot city nights, at times for something more cosmic.

Royalty – Heart Strings

Royalty’s ‘Purple Nights’ EP is out 21st November. If your in the area catch them at the EP’s launch at the Dalston Superstore on 23rd November, details here.
