Blue Satellite

Blue Satellite is English producer Philip Schwan’s project pushing out some heavy French Electro beats.

Mixing up buzzsaw French Electro and 16-bit video game sounds Blue Satellite makes some dirty, yet funky sounds. But that’s not all that’s mixed up in ‘Paris’, the track also drops some lilting accordion, straight from the Paris city streets and a liberal helping of Disco riffs. All-in-all Paris is a pretty huge dancefloor track with enough energy to gut the guy noticed.

Blue Satellite – Paris (Extended Mix)

Check out his smooth Disco with a grinding riff reMix of Muscle Hawk too.

These tracks will feature on Blue Satellite’s forthcoming EP ‘Aurora’ and watch out for a reMix of Gemini Club in the near future.

Billie Ray Martin’s Sweet Suburban Disco

You gotta’ love Billie Ray Martin really, haven’t you? She’s practically a legend in the realm of dance music and she has this massive powerful soul voice, yet she’s always tried to do something interesting. Where she could just be content to warble over the latest fashionable House track she always does something with an edge that wears it’s slightly more eclectic influences on it’s sleeve. That she’s did an EP of Cabaret Voltaire covers last year is a prime example.

So, with “reinventing Italo Disco” as a goal Ms. Martin is back with a new single, ‘Sweet Suburban Disco’, and reinvent Italo she has. This is Italo that was conceived in the rain soaked backstreets of Soho. Deep grooves are overlaid with layer of sparse, cold, synths which are expertly counterpointed by Billie’s huge warm vocals and the best lyrical content we’ve heard in dance music for a while (I’m a huge fan of narratives in music!). Mashing up Italo, ElectroPop and a little Balearic, BRM manages to create a slick package that is as forward-thinking sounding as it is retro.

The reMix duties are provided by Severino, Luke Solomon, Ray Grant and SynthPop godfather Vince Clarke, who turns in a surprisingly deep and edge dancefloor mix.

Teenage Bad Girl’s new EP

Teenage Bad Girl are dropping a new EP later this month.

The title track ‘Keep Up With You’ is massive! Ducking and sliding between sweet smooth, funky, vocodered French Touch and huge, chainsaw Electro-House this track will get you dancing then blow your mind in the chorus.

And that’s before the solo kicks in and practically gives you a heart attack.

Masters Of The Radio

Upcoming electronic duo Masters Of The Radio are picking up the torch for classic Futurist SynthPop.

Hailing from the north of England the duo takes their influences from the Futurist pioneers of the late 70’s/early 80’s (and Gary Numan), many of whom came from the same part of the country. Making sparse and minimal yet melodic music that would have sat easily alongside the likes of early The Human League and Fad Gadget with vocals that occasionally slip into Bowie mode, even with a touch of Brian Ferry in there, Masters Of The Radio prove that you can write Minimal Synth tunes and still have a catchy chorus.

Double act Retro/Grade (A.K.A. Serge Santiago and Tom Neville) are releasing their new single ‘Reset’ next month on Deconstruction.

It’s a big hands-in-the-air Italo/Nu-Disco crossover track that takes the beat, squelchy basslines and structure of Italo and throws in some soaring Nu-Disco leads for good measure.

Check the pumped up performance video complimented by some badass early 90’s CGI!

‘Reset’ is out 21st March.

Jungle Fiction reMix Cassette Culture

Awesome Icelandic Nu-Disco gang Jungle Fiction are back with this epic reMix of Cassette Culture’s ‘ Once We Had An Empire’.

Cassette Culture is the solo project of Tom Lowe from Indie band Kyte and here the Jungle Fiction trio bring both the melodies of Dreamwave and the buzzsaw synths of hard Electro create what seems to be the Nu-Disco equivalent of 80s hair metal, which is rad as fuck! The Fiction are defiantly up there with Kavinsky and Danger and should be kept an eye on.
