Lazerhawk’s ‘Arise’

Lazerhawk

Some spooky SynthWave now with Lazerhawk’s contribution to todays festivities.

‘Arise’ whips a John Carpenter-esque melody into an Electro frenzy of stomping beats and ominous synths. Building an air of tension throughout the track with piercing lead line that layer on top of each other at a relentless pace, this track is the audio equivalent of being chased by cyborg zombies from the ‘80’s!

Lazerhawk’s new EP is out soon also featuring reMixes from Miami Nights 1984 and Mitch Murder.

Glass Candy’s ‘Halloween’

Taking the crown for spookiest post today is the always excellent Glass Candy and their cover with vocals/tribute/homage to John Carpenter’s ‘Halloween’ theme. With just hints of the theme amongst deep pulsating electronics and Ida’s unsettling vocal, it’s creepy stuff.

Alberto Rossini has directed an equally creepy, yet somehow still retro cool, video for the track.

Short Circuit’s ‘Visitors’

shortcircuit1

LA Dreamwave innovator Short Circuit is here to send shivers down your spine with a track full of dread.

Opening with the synthesizer equivalent of nails on a chalkboard, ‘Visitors’ assaults your senses on three fronts, growing electronics and spooky melodies and banshee lead lines. Amongst all the chills, though, is a damn cool track, the shuffling percussion in particular lends the track an ‘80’s funk.

TNUC’s video for Gianni Rossi’s ‘C- Beams’

In time for Halloween Uncle TNUC has unleashed his first slashed flick.

The clip is for the Gianni Rossi (A.K.A Steve Moore) version of his own (as in Steve Moore’s) ‘C Beams’, a little less cosmic, a little more funky and a video full of kids who should have known better!

Powerglove’s ‘Crypt’

Powerglove

Never one to miss out on the opportunity some ‘80’s straight-to-video horror theme Electro Powerglove enters the party, bringing with him a slice of creepy cool SynthWave.

‘Crypt’ drops some unsettling baroque elements over pumping sidechained Electro, the a hypnotic and otherworldly harpsichord refrain setting the scene for all manner of synthesizer horror. And when the sweeping retro synths kick in, you know you’re not getting out alive!

Young Digerati cover Werewolves Of London

The last of Young Digerati’s trilogy of Halloween cover versions finds them attacking cover of Warren Zevon’s ‘Werewolves Of London’.

Beautifully turning the 70’s glam rock track into some slick ‘80’s DiscoPop, I can’t help but think that the track works better like this. This is easily mid-‘80’s horror-comedy soundtrack fare, probably featuring a bratpacker and out just in time for the holidays.

Sam Padrul reMixes Ghosthouse

ghosthouse

Ghosthouse are a Chicago duo who make ElectroPop tracks with a massive dose of Funk. their latest track ‘9.2.5’ has been given the reMix treatment by Sam Padrul.

I was going to try to write this without mentioning Chromeo, but it was too much like hard work, because Ghosthouse are defiantly traveling the same road, with some added Prince-like qualities and pulsing electronics to make their sound their own. Sam Padrul takes the track and gives it a laid back beach Nu-Disco workout full of bouncing synths and a slick little guitar lick the roll the track along.
