Mighty Mouse’s new album

This coming week sees UK Disco-heads Mighty Mouse release their début artist album.

Titles ‘Song With No Words’ the album consists of ten ‘Movements’ ranging electronic Lounge Jazz to Cosmic Disco to pure smooth Funk. Meticulously crafted and staggeringly well produced the album is more of a journey through analog grooves, flowing from one track to the next, than ten straight songs and manages to sound almost cinematic at times.

Check out ‘Movement 5’, one of the jazzier tracks on the record, but who doesn’t like a little jazz in their lives every now and then?

‘Song With No Words’ is released 6th December on History/Disco Circus Records.

Neon Hitch & Deadmau5

Check out this collaboration between Electro-House universal dominator Deadmau5 and Pop newbie Neon Hitch.

The brand new track is a really interesting slice of electronic Pop and manages to sound very Deadmau5 without sounding like anything he’s ever done. It’s an odd one, the groove is really commercial yet the production is trademark Deadmau5. Odd, but good.

Deadmau5 (Feat. Neon Hitch) – I Can’t Behave Myself

I reckon this will probably end up being Neon Hitch’s début single with Deadmauy5 on production credits.

It’s HURTS and all their friends, playing in the snow!

Did you think we’d leave you without anything festive today after the deluge of X-mas tunes over the last two days?

Well, after dropping HURTS X-mas single on you two days ago we can now premiere the particularly X-massy video for it.

Just as the song is reminiscant of the ‘proper’ X-mas singles of the 80’s, the video, too, is quite an 80’s X-mas video.

So, as the chick from ‘Stay’, the crazy dancing lady, the mourners and the ballet dancer & her androgynous admirer say farewell to 2010 we have to wonder what characters HURTS have in store for us in 2011.

Look! The guys are even wearing red! Must be a special occasion.

The single is available as a free download from 14th December.

New tracks from Preston Park

Remember, literally, years ago we wrote about a MySpace find called Preston Park?

We dug his funky ElectroPop way back then so when he turned up in the electronic rumors inbox we were pretty interested to hear what he was producing these days.

Two tracks graced our mailbox. The first, ‘Little Bottle’ (which is a collaboration with Young Monday) is our favourite of the two, it’s an upbeat SynthPop track with a touch of Soft Cell around the drum programming and some nice vintage synth sounds. Sitting somewhere between Minimal Synth and Lo-Fi SynthPop, ‘Little Bottle’ is a confident Pop song that harkens back to to days of the Futurist pioneers. The atmospheric ‘Falling’ is more of a lament than a ballad, being borderline Spoken Word over an evolving Synthesizer backing. The French lilt of the vocals creating evocative imagery.

Douze – We Got The Love

‘We Got The Love’ is the latest track from Frenchman Arnault Douze Esteve A.K.A. Douze.

A protégé of Kris Menace and collaborator of the one-and-only Alan Braxe, Douze creates an amazing amalgamation of French-Touch, Disco, ElectroPop and talk box Funk. This is the smoothest slice of Disco that has landed on the electronic rumors desk in a while and just when you’re getting into the groove with the body moving bassline and lush pads the track hits you with a devastating solo! Awesome stuff.

Douze’s EP, ‘Doxology’, is out 6th December on Work It Baby.

Fare Soldi reMixes Duran Duran’s Rio

Italian masters of all things crazy Italo Fare Soldi have got their funky hands on Duran Duran’s ‘Rio’. This can only end well (or badly, depending on your position).

Spotlighting the tune’s mental bassline over a 909 beat whist dropping in bits of the song over the top is the path to true Italo enlightenment. Fare Soldi always manage to keep thing fresh and he they do a spot-on job or working the retro and the contemporary into a dancefloor slaying package.

David Lynch makes an ElectroPop record…really!

So, I’ve always had a love/hate affair with the movies of David Lynch. I’m a massive Twin Peaks fan and love the films where he warps normality and makes you look at the world differently. However, he pisses me off when he just gets weird for the sake of it, like it he feels he has to live up to being ‘David Lynch’. His music, on the other hand, has always interested me.

So, why is he here on electronic rumors? He’s only gone and released an ElectroPop record hasn’t he!

If you’ve ever wanted to know what David Lynch would sound like vocodered over a machine beat and Disco chords then you’re in luck! This little slice of Indie-Electro is surprisingly good, pretty minimal, and gets boarderline 8-bit crunchy in places.

David Lynch – Good Day Today

‘Good Day Today’/’I Know’ is being released by Sunday Best with an Electro album coming next year.

My Favorite Robot’s ‘Birthday Song’

Those Canadian meisters of Experimental ElectroPop Electronica My Favorite Robot have breathed new single into the world.

‘Birthday Song’ will take you deep deep down, everything about it seems designed to put you in a dream likes state on the dancefloor. From it’s drone organs to it’s ethereal vocals all pined down with a hypnotic sub-bass. This is serious ElectroPop/Deep House with just a touch of Acid warbling.
