Monarchy début live show and words about space!

Monarchy have announced their début live show at London’s Electrowekrz on the 22nd of this month. Well, strictly speaking it’s not their début show, their début show was at the NASA Planetarium at Cape Canaveral, Florida in from of 20 witnesses and beamed into space. Listen to the band talk about it in this video.

But it is their first ‘proper’ show in front of an audience and the duo’s Twitter feed is full of talk of preparations.

We’re pretty exited and you can be electronic rumours will be front and centre!

Monarchy’s forthcoming third single ‘Love Get Out Of My Way is released this month and amongst the reMixes is this deep Electro affair from DFA producer and analog synth guru Tim Goldsworthy.

‘Love Get Out Of My Way’ drops 26th July with reMixes from Holy Ghost!, Sinden, and Treasure Fingers also.

Russ Chimes reMixes Ronson

Mark Ronson’s current single ‘Bang Bang Bang’ (Featuring ElectroPop artist MNDR and Q-Tip, ex of A Tribe Called Quest) is actually pretty good. It’s got a real old school Electro Funk feel to it and is generally pretty darn banging.

But, oh look! Russ Chimes has got his hands on it (and, as we know, his hands have the Midas touch) and, keeping the elements that made the original groove, has transformed it into a monster disco workout. We really cannot wait to hear what Russ’ EP will hold, I hope he releases it while the weather is still good, I have a feeling it might just end up being the soundtrack to my summer…if it’s out in time!

Clock Opera Vs. Mickey Moonlight

Clock Opera are one of the more interesting act to emerge in the last six months, setting them selves apart from the pack with unusual instrumentation and intelligent songwriting.

Ed Banger artist Mickey Moonlight has had a crack at their current single bringing in some heavy tribal drums and some eclectic noise work. You can tell he had fun with this reMix, just let himself go. It’s pretty spacey and just a little experimental but does kinda’ draw you in.

Unreleased ceo!

ceo’s (Eric Berglund from The Tough Alliance) début album ‘White Magic’ is causing quite stir amongst those with discerning tastes and with good reason. Sure, at it’s core it’s ElectroPop, but it almost defies definition. I’ve honestly never heard anything like it, influences form World Music, Hip-Hop and a certain symphonic quality to ceo’s music make it a really special listen. I suppose you’ll either get it or you won’t, but if you do, it’s kinda’ infectious.

Anyway, those fine folk at Modular, in celebration for the release, are giving away this unused track from the album sessions. ‘Everything Is Gonna’ Be Alright’ would have fitted perfectly on the album, it’s a tribal escape from reality (with pan-flutes!).

Monarchy’s ‘Love Get Out Of My Way’ video (again?)

OK, I have no idea what the deal with the previous video clip for Monarchy’s forthcoming ‘Love Get Out Of My Way’ single was. It looks like the video was taken down and has now been replaced with this new video that premiered this weekend.

It’s all good though, I actually prefer the new video. I’m a sucker for a bit of poppin’ and lockin’ and the visuals are really striking. It’s also got a little bit of 80’s in there too, like if the characters from New Order’s ‘True Faith’ video all started doing the robot with lasers.

Oh, and the song is still badass!

‘Love Get Out Of My Way’ drops 26th July with reMixes from Holy Ghost!, Sinden, and Treasure Fingers amongst others.

Kolt13’s Kavinsky reMix

Awesome Nu-Disco producer Kolt13 had dropped his entry for Kavinsky’s  ‘Nightcall’ reMix competition over on his SoundCloud.

There’s now over 200 reMixes of this track floating around the internet, after one of the largest reMix competitions I have ever seen, but this has to be one of the best. There some amazing reMixes entered into the competition (I spent a whole day on SoundCloud going through them!) but this one really works for me. Cutting up and disjointing the original in an Electro stylee, but not so much to take away from the song itself. It’s a pretty crazy banger with sweet sounding retro synths battling with distorted 8-bit sounds for your attention.

As soon as the solo kicked in I was sold!

The ‘Nightcall’ EP is out now and the reMix competition is drawing to a close, we’ll bring you news of the winners as it arrives.

David E. Sugar’s a ‘Party Killer’

ChipTune pioneer turned Electro-House guru David E. Sugar’s forthcoming single, on Rob Da Bank’s Sunday Best label, sees a pretty huge shift in direction toward a more Electro-Punky, or Indie-Electro sound.

Featured on the forthcoming ‘Kitsuné X Ponystep’ compilation, the track, ‘Party Killer’ is a raw and raucous party anthem with jagged disco guitars and David’s stripped down vocals over a smooth summer beat.

the reMix backup comes from  Disco Of Doom, The Phenomenal Hand Clap Band, Renaissance Man, Sunday Best themselves and Adam Smith who keeps most of the song structure but chops up vocals and guitar and melds them to a more dancefloor friendly Electro track. Defiantly the banger option in the reMix package.

David E. Sugar – Party Killer (Adam Smith reMix)

‘Party Killer’ will be released as a limited edition 7” and the digital remix package, followed by a full length album in October.

Tesla Boy’s new single

This week saw the release of Russia’s ElectroPop/Dreamwave heroes Tesla Boy’s new single ‘Thinking Of You’, the second from their début album ‘Modern Thrills’.

We’ve been following Tesla Boy’s career for a while as, frankly, they are making some of the best SynthPop on the planet right now, and it’s good to see them with proper releases and proper videos (thanks to Mullett Records) ‘cos they really are a band that suits videos.

The prime example of that is the video for ‘Thinking Of You’ which was directed by Yoram Benz.

The single also features reMixes from Baxter, MAM and Casio Social Club but it’s the original version that is the real standout for me it’s a super slick melting pot of SynthPop, Nu-Disco, ElectroPop and Dreamwave that contains just the right amount of each.
