Ellie’s new video

Even though it does my head in that she pronounces the word ‘Artist’ with an ‘L’, ‘The Writer’ is a beautiful, introspective, interlude in Ellie Goulding’s début album ‘Lights’ that will see single release in August.

The video has dropped over on her YouTube channel, it’s nice enough although I can’t help but feel that every video post ‘Starry Eyed’ has just been a little unimaginative, as if the record company just want to play it safe.

Still, it is nicely shot and doesn’t detract from the song.

‘The Writer’ is released 9th August.

Kyte Vs. Pacific!

Leicestershire based Indie-Electro act Kyte and currently looking to release their new single ‘Designed For Damage’ later this month.

Taken from their album ‘Dead Waves’, the single comes with a reMix package that includes this gem from Pacific!, a smooth track that predominantly walks the line between Dreamwave and Nu-Disco but has little drops of Indie-Electro, here and there, throughout. Defiantly up there with some of the best of the laidback Indie tinged Disco that seems to be the sound of this summer.

‘Designed For Damage’ is out 26th July.

Backseat Dreamer’s début drops today!

Sean Neuse A.K.A. Backseat Dreamer is finally dropping his début album, ‘‘The Colors of Dreams, They’re In You’ today!

Setting himself apart from Dreamwave, ElectroPop and Indie-Electro by creating a hybrid of all three, mixed up in a Shoegaze style wall of (melodic synth) sound finished off with some floating, introspective vocals, Backseat Dreamer is a definite listen for fans of any of the three styles.

The album is a personal affair with intricately programmed rhythms and emotive vocals, if it wasn’t for the lush sound I would call it Bedroom Pop, but it feels slightly grander than that. Contradictorily grant yet, very raw and D.I.Y.

Give it a listen.

Bottin dreams a dream with Simple Minds

Y’know, it fells like i have been waiting a lifetime for someone to do a decent reMix of my third favourite Simple Minds song, ‘New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84)’.

Enter Bottin to save the day, ‘cos this reMix he has just dropped is awesome! Part Nu-Disco, part Italo and keeping everything that made the original special. Dropping a kick and an arpeggiated bassline in the makes all the difference, and then the song just opens up for Bottin’s synth work.

Amazing!

The Dark Esquire’s new video

The Dark Esquire has just premiered the video for his forthcoming single ‘Lexicons’. The single is more quality ElectroPop from the one of America’s most interesting Synth acts. Never musically pandering to Electro trends TDA has produced another single if intelligent electronic songwriting.

Directed by Mike Ferrara, the video is pure 80’s goodness that appears to see The Dark esquire having a fevered dream about 80’s angles. Enjoy:

Don’t worry Mr. Esquire, geometry does everyone’s head in!

‘Lexicons’ is out 12th August on THISISNOTANEXIT.

The Aikiu ‘Just Can’t Sleep’

The Aikiu, brainchild of French producer Alex Aikiu and has just released his first single, ‘Just Can’t Sleep’ on Abracada. It a pretty sweet slice of Indie-Disco and an ode to late 70’s/early 80’s New York clubland. fittingly the man has been working with Chic’s Nile Rogers. It’s got a lot of early 80’s Pop in there as well as Disco, but however you want to classify it, it’s a damn good début.

Check the video:

The single comes packaged by reMixes from Egyptrixx, Azari & III, Mighty Mouse and Clement Meyer. As well as that fine lot check out these two free reMixes. Sovnger’s mutation into a French-Electro banger and chilled, almost Dubby, Space Disco from Stupid Human.

The Pass

I’m lovin’ this track from Louisville based ElectroPop/Indie-Electro act The Pass, this is the first sample from their forthcoming début album, ‘BURST’.

‘Treatment of the Sun’ is such an ‘of the moment’ tune, upbeat and summery with just the right balance of jangly guitars and layers of retro synth work, I’m defiantly eager to hear more from this lot.

The band have put together this little video to showcase the track:

I’ve got a long train ride tomorrow and you can be sure this is going on the walkman!

If you’re very lucky we might be able to throw an .mp3 of this tune your way in the coming months

The Pass’ album is due to drop Autumn 2010 on sonaBLAST! Records, until then you can pick up this track and their previous EP over at their Bandcamp page.

Monarchy video mystery solved!

Well, either it’s been a slow week or Monarchy have been really busy ‘cos here comes another Monarchy post!

Remember that video for their forthcoming third single ‘Love Get Out Of My Way’ that suddenly disappeared and was replaced with the official video? Well it turns out that it was intended to be the video for the new Benny Benassi reMix of the track. It’s a cool pumping reMix, maybe one of the others (Holy Ghosts!) would be more deserving of a video and record label pushing but I suppose Benassi is more of a ‘name’ amongst clubbers and, as I said, it is quite a cool reMix.

‘Love Get Out Of My Way’ drops 26th July with reMixes from Holy Ghost!, Sinden, Treasure Fingers amongst others.

Performance Unconsoled

Manc ElectroPoppers Performance (I’ve got used to dropping the ‘(we are)’ now) have just premiered the video for their forthcoming single ‘Unconsoled’.

It’s little more Indie than their last couple of singles, but a good indie, a kinda’ early 90’s indie, with a nice synth backing and it’s an awesome video.

How these guys aren’t massive yet I’ll never understand, especially with Joe Cross on team!

Performance – Unconsoled

‘Unconsoled’ drops 9th August on Too Much Information.
