Edwin Van Cleef Vs. Housse De Racket

French Indie synth wizards Housse De Racket are releasing their début album, ‘Forty Love’, for the first time in the UK later this month packaged up with an extra CD choc full of reMixes.

One of the reMixes on the ‘Bonus reMix Edition’ is this blistering tune from the north’s finest Dreamwave export Edwin Van Cleef. His take on HDR’s ‘Champions’ is a smooth, feel good, jam that immerses you in synth goodness.

Bright Light Bright Light’s new video

Now signed to PopJustice’s PopJustice Hi-Fi label, the amazing Bright Light Bright Light can have proper videos and everything!

And, flipping hell, is his new single, ‘Love Part II’ good or what? It’s proper electronic Power Pop. I’ll say that again, it’s PROPER ELECTRONIC POWER POP! Right? I always said he was a good songwriter, bit this track exceeds every expectation. Remember how powerful Pop was in the 80’s?, how you would get chills when the chorus kicked in? That’s what we’re talking about here.

The video is cool too, nicely shot and full of angular abstractness, as all good videos should.

Did I mention we quite like this here?

‘Love Part II’, Bright Light Bright Light’s début single is released 12th September, until then your MySpace love is required:

Futurecop!, back to the future!

Futurecop! are back! Awesome!

The duo, who were there right at the beginning of this retro synth epidemic we now call Dreamwave, are releasing a reMix album titled ‘The reMixes ♥’ to tide us over while they work on their début long player.

The album will feature reMixes of, and by, Futurecop! from the likes of Anoraak, Digikid84, Stephen Falken and Lauren Flax. Also included is this reMix of Dreams by Silicone Project, which just sums up everything that is exiting about Futurecop!. The analog synth burbling, the big 80’s chords, the uplifting (in an 80’s teen movie way) melodies and the retro funk.

Futurecop! – Dreams (Silicone Project reMix)

‘The reMixes ♥’ drops 31st August on FutureFlashs’ Kiez Beats label.

The Electroscopes

The Electroscopes are, or is, a one man act (backed up by a live drummer) from Northampton.

A relative newcomer to the game, having kicked off The Electroscopes last year, main-man Paul has already had BBC Radio airplay and was featured as their ‘uploader track of the week’, back in September 2009, with this track ‘Harder Each Day’ which Paul is gearing up to release as a single.

It’s a pretty deep sounding slice of ElectroPop styled Electronica. Vocally and lyrically it can stand alongside this years hippest Bedroom Pop producers, such as Penguin Prison and I Am Noxious, but musically has more of a progressive electronics slant to it. In keeping with the ‘sound’ of this summer the tune is pretty chilled, carried along by intricate programming and melodies.

The Electroscopes is defiantly a name to keep an eye on.

The Electroscopes – Harder Each Day

Once this track is mastered and slapped on a CD it’ll be slamming! It’s coming out at the end of the month on TTR (Through The Roof) Records, until then give the man some MySpace love:

New Lo-Fi-Fnk single, ‘Sleepless’

There’s a new 7” on the way from Swedish Electro heroes Lo-Fi-Fnk.

‘Sleepless’ is out next month and defiantly increases the anticipation for their forthcoming full length second album. It’s a chilled, hypnotic ElectroPop groove that sounds something like the sound in your mind when inflicted with the tracks inspiration.

With all the horn and piano stable it’s like being an insomniac in the 90’s! Awesome!

iamamiwhoami’s ‘y’

iamamiwhoami (i.e. defiantly Jonna Lee now) have mostly stopped being mysterious, except with their releases (a succession of one track singles). It’s probably time for a proper release.

It would be welcome to, their latest track ‘y’ and it’s accompanying video are both things of beauty, like a head on collision between The Knife and Kate Bush.

‘y’ is out…y’know, whenever…some other tracks are out there though, all with single letter titles.

Silver Columns; Always On

‘Always On’ is the next single from Scottish ElectroPop experimentalists Silver Columns.

The track, that successfully walks the line between Avant Garde and Bedroom Pop, also gets a whopping nine minute reMix from Caribou, who take the listener on a synthesizer journey through deep analog basses and bleeps and blips making Silver Columns suddenly sound very Hot Chip.

ODahl’s début EP

Out this week is the debut EP from Swede producer ODahl.

Probably best know for his reMixes of Tesla Boy, Cut Copy and Empire Of The Sun, ODahl busts out three original cuts on the self titled EP including ‘Dance Mama’ a dreamy, ever so slightly glitchy, summer Disco track. Pure party stuff. The track ‘Hello Hello’ appears both in it’s original from and with a reMix treatment from the awesome Diamond Cut, who turn in a rolling, arpeggio driven, Dreamwave version with some sweet big 80’s chords.

ODahl’s EP is out this week on Velcro City Records and features more reMixes from Alfa and Joman.
