Backseat Dreamer

BackseatDreamer

Backseat Dreamer is the solo project of South Carolina musician Sean Neuse who makes a kinda’ Shoegaze influenced style of Dreamwave.

Dropping his début album this July, Sean creates a swirling soundscape of intertwining analog synths, layered with just enough retro sounds to keep it from chaos and dreamlike vocals that become another instrument in the mix. The whole thing is kept in check with solid dance beats that make it as much dancefloor fodder as listening gold.

Backseat Dreamer’s début album ‘The Colors of Dreams, They’re In You’ is released 13th July on Stickfigure Recordings.

The Good Natured’s ‘Your Body Is A Machine’ video

Still not sure if we can mention what record label will be re-releasing The Good Natured’s ‘Your Body Is A Machine’, but rest assured the label is alarmingly hip!

We’re really looking forward to the release though, it’s a song that has grown on us more and more over the past year or so and some of the reMixes are amazing.

Finally there is a proper video for the track, feast your eyes:

‘Your Body Is A Machine’ is released 21st June on the aforementioned (or not) alarmingly hip record label.

Zebra & Snake video

Zebra & Snake have dropped a few interesting reMixes in the last few months, most notably for Le Corps Mince De Françoise and The Good Natured, but let’s not forget the Finish duo are releasing original material themselves.

Check the video for their previous single ‘The Colours’, a luscious slice of borderline Bedroom Pop/Electro-Indie with a suitable Lo-Fi video.

The video was directed by Miikka Lommi

The ‘The Colours’ EP is available now and the duo are releasing a new single ‘We Never Go When We Have To’

Calling In Sick reMix Cullen

Cullen

It’s been a while since we heard a new reMix from Sydney’s Calling in Sick, which is a shame as I used to be all over their mixes. Seriously couldn’t get enough of that shit!

So it’s awesome to see them back with this reMix of Australia’s answer to The Postal Service, Cullen’s début single, ‘Easily Impressed’ and it’s just the Calling In Sick sound that I had been missing.

You’ve got the buzzsaw synths hammering crazy solos and arpeggios and the big 80’s chords. Calling In Sick are like the 80’s hair Metal of electronic music, and that is no bad thing!

TeenagersInTokyo

TeenagerInTokyo02

TeenagersInTokyo are gearing up for the release of their début long player, ‘Sacrifice’, at the end of the month and are preceding it with the second single from the album.

‘End It Tonight’ originally featured on the bands début EP last year but is given new lease of life by a bunch of ace reMixes. We Have Band’s jittery percussion and four bar basslines shine through, the WHB sound actually works really well with Samantha Lim’s vocals. Nightschool are the next in a long line of ‘mystery’ acts to appear in the last couple of years. I’m sure people will have all kinds of theories as to who it is, I’m sure there will be loads of Gossip (ahem). Focusing on his reMix though, it’s got a nice New Wave vibe going on with a nice balance of bass & guitar to Synths, kinda’ gives the song more of a live feel too, which is nice.

Performance’s new single

Joe Cross is such the man to watch this year, he is a dude with his fingers in many pies!

As well as being one third of Indie-Electro outfit Performance, he is also half of the awesome Kiss In Cities and had a hand in upcoming releases by HURTS and The Sound Of Arrows.

Anyway, this is ‘The Living’, the latest single from Performance who really do have a knack for songwriting, they may be my favourite current (Indie slanted) Indie-Electro band in the UK. I think I like them so much ‘cos they combine ElectroPop elements with an early ‘90’s Indie sound. Rad stuff!

The single is out now on Too Much Information Records.

Midnight Juggernauts; new tracks!

MidnightJuggernauts04

‘Vital Signs’ we’ve heard before out of these two previews from Midnight Juggernauts’ forthcoming 2010 album, ‘The Crystal Axis’.

Both tunes see a progression of MJ’s particular brand of Space-Electro-Indie-Disco-Pop but still sounding defiantly Juggernauts. The subtle anthemic quality with a hint of psychedelia in a Lo-Fi garage style is still ever present but with a little more sparseness, a little more edge and a little more maturity. Oh, and big ‘70’s creepy synth solos!
